First story: Parents do not realize that this person is an adult. They are trying to keep a childish state of relationship. Second story: The sister has a problem. I don’t know if she is jealous or crazy, but she has a problem. Third story: The father sounds like a real prize. Four marriages? He has a problem.
#2: I would actually call the sister’s bluff about it being her friend that did it by telling her to call the friend and confront them about it in front of everyone. The way that she was acting screams guilty but instead of admitting it and apologizing, she decided to lie and hide it instead.
First story: op was made to pay rent at 16, and they were fine with it for years, the parents just didn't like op had control over her time and money. They can't treat op like a tenant and expect her to be there for family whenever they want. Second story: the sister dug her own grave by running away and not reaching out to apologize, she would rather keep those accounts and slut-shaming her sister than face her family and apologize, I would cut contact had that been my sister, and all of that at the grown age of 28!!! Third story: the father needs to take several seats, he can't expect his adult children to be there for him at his wedding day if he hasn't been around to watch his children grow up, he has no right to complain honestly.
Ellen, have you ever thought about becoming a counselor? You're a natural at it. I have my masters degree in clinical psychology, and I feel you have a real gift in this area.
OP was absolutely not rude or disrespectful, I'd also distance myself from the grandfather for defending the parents saying OP should treat them with more "respect" when they never treated OP with any
I wish my bio dad visited at least once a month I only see him around Christmas time. I live in Pennsylvania and he lives in North Carolina so I guess there's that but he could do more than just Christmas. But that's okay cus I have an amazing stepfather.
First story - Parents should have taught their kid how to invest and/or take classes in finance. Help him/her grow their financial empire, not chip away at it.🤨
How are you doing sweetie? How are you feeling? I hope just great!! In the very first story, how are the parents going to try to be mad at them when they're basically charging their own child rent maybe because their jealous that their own child is doing way better than the both of them. They are not only your child but they are also your tenant, too so they can't tell their child what to do anymore. I get that they're your parents but they also are just some greedy voultures too. Don't talk to or see them for a very long time and if this was your very last time speaking with them then I completely understand why. In the second story, the main protagonist's sister needs to be fully ashamed of herself for hating like that on her little sister just because she's jealous. Cut her all the way out of your life because a hater. In the words of the late great Tupac Shakur from the movie Above The Rim " just because a MF is born into your family don't mean you stay family" I love you my friend!! Have a great day, good night from me!! Stay safe!!

They started charging him rent at 16 so treating them like an adult is only conditional when it benefits the parents.
1st story: ...when it suits them. They want to have their cake and eat it, too.

Story 2: Contact that 'friend', I am sure they would love to know too.
I swear every family has at least that one person who is crazy. It's why so many families only see them during Christmas.
...or the entire family is crazy. Some families are cult proportion bonkers...
Story 1: Better to move pit rather than stay with leeches. Yes those parents are leeches.

She wants to be a teacher I think but would be a good counselor too imo
