Virologist, Dr. Shira Weingarten-Gabbay has uncovered thousands of novel microproteins encoded in the “dark matter” of viral genomes, which has exposed previously unknown immune targets for vaccines. She was nominated for the Blavatnik Regional Awards by The Rockefeller University, but also is a postdoctoral fellow at The Broad Institute.
