Ichika was originally supposed to appear on O.D., but the band decided to take the song in a different direction, so Tim asked him if he "had any spare riffs lying around" & THIS opening is what he sent him. Since the rest of the song is obviously structured around the intro, Ichika really deserves a full writing credit here. He's way too humble though lol.

I mean this in the nicest way to all parties. But no. They are not on the same level. Ichika is good enough that he crosses the line where isn't relatable anymore. His situation feels like "The genius who can't tie his shoes." kinda thing. His music is absolutely awe inspiring, but it also makes me feel sad because he is too talented to be successful. He is an artist's artist. The whole Polyphia crew are also amazing, but they haven't crossed that unrelatable-line. Yes, even Tim is still human, if only just. They work so well together, and keep leaving room for each-other to grow and express themselves. For another example of what I'm talking about, consider Buckethead. He is an incredible artist. But he is so far out-there that it is really hard for 'normal' listeners to 'get'. Other than his 4-year stint in GnR, he just ends up having to do his own thing. He is featured on a ton of albums. He also averages an ASTOUNDING >1 solo-album every 2 week average since 2010. But for Buckethead, music seems almost like a sickness that he needs to get out. Ichika isn't music-sick like Buckethead. But it does feel like he is too good to properly function in a 'normal' band with 'normal' appeal. Unfortunately this will likely mean he will be a 'featured artist' and 'solo act' most of the time.
