I used to live a few houses up from where Jefferson ended in to reading rd from 1988 to 1997 . I remember running out on my porch to see what was going by . Awesome videos ,thanks for bringing back the memories.
Wow Jeff I mean what can I say about this footage besides awesome!?!? I mean have you thought about making the classic clips video on DVD or something?
I still watch this about once a week thinking about NS running through my hometown Reading Ohio a lot, now it’s not the same with NS just running Sunday-Thursday with east end of peavine operation out of pebbles being closed, wish there was a Time Machine lol. You know how many NS trains a day would run through the oasis line?
Reading was my hometown too. Unfortunately, I moved away when I went into the military, going back and visiting my folks is how I was able to film those videos. So, I'm not real familiar with operations back then, wish I did. I miss the NS through Reading also but lately I only get back there maybe once a year. Thanks for watching.
This was north south traffic, when the Peavine closed some traffic may have been diverted. Mostly Ft. Wayne and Columbus traffic. Peavine did not have a lot of traffic towards the end.
@@jefftoft5568 Kind of like a generator/power car? Interesting how they attach to the engines as the first car seems to be at an angle (the front of it) as compared to the consist after this.

Your welcome, I lived on Keith Dr. I worked for the City of Reading my summer breaks from High School 71 to 73.
Awesome video Jeff, the train horns are super cool!!!!!
Thank you Ron!
Triple Crown Trailers are always Nice to see and are still being used today, some 30+ years later.👍
Only one route is still in operation today, I think it might Detroit to KC.

Thought about it a long time ago, not sure how to go about it.
Great video Jeff enjoyed
Thank you Ed!
What is that High Hood without Dynamic Brakes
Can’t say I noticed until you said something. Thanks for watching.
The guy cutting the grass at the beginning of the video is now Retired. 😬👍
He might be the owner of the Reading drive thru, you stay in your car and get your beer and pop and whatever else you might drink.

Did nw and southern use turntables for diesel locomotive and we're any nw and sou units fitted with snowploughs.
I know N&W did have turntables, not every yard did, Southern I’m not sure. I would have to look at pictures, not very many had plows that I recall.
did they used it to go on the peavine line

What's the first trailer on triple crowns it has a door in the middle?
Those are bogies, not part of the revenue service. Just there to start the trailers off the engine.

@@bootsdocsandconspiracies6589 It is more or less an adapter, it might have a coupler where the rest would not.
Do you have anymore ns videos and soo line sd35 videos from the 1990s
I don’t think so.
Hey man great video! Do you mind if I use a small part of this video for my video of the evolution of NS? I will give credit
As long as I get credit that is fine. I appreciate you asking.
@@jefftoft5568 alright thanks!!
What year was this Southern Railroad Engine was filmed?
I believe that was 1990.
Even modern day Ohio blows IL and IA out of the water!
