LOVE THE DARK CHAPTERS AND SERIOUSLY!!!! I do however miss your cult series. I get that it was mostly for Halloween and i'm not trying to be rude, i just loved those. the psychology behind it is insane and if i were a smarter person i would do a dissertation on it and love every second. Also, the set is awesome, the opening is great, i love the changes that you're making with your show. It brings a dark beauty to some very dark stories (this is all my opinion, take it with a grain of salt).

Researchers in the UK did a large study of family annihilators, and they divided them into four major types: the "self-righteous" killer. This type usually strikes when the family breaks down, and one partner leaves and/or initiates divorce. The killer can't handle the loss of the traditional family, and wants to punish the partner. The second type is the "disappointed" annihilator. This killer is angry that the family is not behaving the way they believe a family should, such as believing that the children aren't following the parents' religion, the partner isn't following traditional roles, etc. The "anomic" type: This killer has wrapped ideas of family up in economic success; the loss of a job, a business, and money means the loss of the family. Obviously, Tony Todt is this type, as well as John List, and there are a couple of French family annihilators I've heard of in this type. Last is the "paranoid" type, who believe some outside force or threat is about to destroy their family, so they'll "mercifully" take them out first. I think of that young woman who recently killed her partner and herself, and tried to kill both her daughters during the eclipse.
Sorry to write a novel: I just saw the research online and thought I'd share it.

That's why it's called antisocial or psychopathic. If it made sense according to the norms of society, then it wouldn't be an issue. Some women do the same when you think of the mothers that kill all their children and then claim they were also going to self exit, but somehow they couldn't go thru with that last part, or conveniently it didn't work. These types of parents are selfish cowards. Imagine your cowardice and self image overpowering any sense of rationality and thinking this is the only way out.

The way he describes murdering his kids and wife so nonchalant is disturbing. His retelling of this was like he was describing a family trip that things didn’t go as planned and he was annoyed. His wife had no part of this sick lie. What mother separates her sick kids from not sick kid while planning out and then going through with their murders. She didn’t help hold her child’s feet to stab and smother her son. I’m sorry this is so far from believable his entire story is. Also why would she have him wait 2 days to kill himself to make sure everything was set up? What needed to be done after they all died other than him dying. His arrogance and just fake tears and emotions while testifying is embarrassing and how he feels he’s the smartest person is the room is just pathetic and gross.

He knows the cops know he did it and the cops know that he knows that they know he did it (and despise him for it and don’t believe his lies.) It’s honestly like a dance the police have to do with these people and they can’t break character or they’ll lose their part in the dance. I think there are a couple reasons. 1-mental illness. Perhaps they have an underlying case that hasn't been diagnosed. 2- abuse. During child or adulthood. 3-drugs. Either prescription or illegal. 4-media. Books, movies and television. If you put any of them together or even on there own situations can be interpreted as revelation type events. Stress and seeing the way the world is changing and in many cases going to shit makes it seem like it could be coming to an end. The same way people have been buying into cults for years. I'm not defending this man in any way, but with the schedule he was keeping yiu can see a snap of the brain coming. Given his childhood, the scheduling, and his wives illness all had a part. But i also feel that it was premeditated and he was using it as an excuse for what he did. Honestly though, i really do see why people believe in an apocalypse. I don't know if any of what i said could be right, just attempting an answer!

I read somewhere that he was an extremely controlling and jealous guy that was obsessed with Megan. Her friends said he would rarely allow her a moment's peace. When Megan was out at lunch or anywhere else with her friends, this ghoul kept blowing up her phone wanting to know constantly where she was, who she was with, and what she was doing. Her friend used to half-joke and tell her to decline the call. He claims he did this because he was concerned about her "medical conditions" at trial, always trying to force "treatment" on her, etc., just to keep control.
I think the Feds moving in on his medical fraud case was the catalyst. He was so proud of being the "provider" of the family before his fraudulent charade came crashing down. He basked in the praise and respect. Rather than sharing and confronting the situation with his wife and family, it was easier for him to kill them. Their discovery of the sham "great provider" role was too much for his ego and may have led to exacerbating already existing marital problems where he would lose her, for sure. Megan is definitely innocent and him blaming her will bring him to justice in the next realm. Just my theory.
Edit: Just watched the very end. Couldn't agree with you more, Annie.
