Annie, I hope you read this as I need your help to spread the word. A man by the name of Billy Shafer, took the life of a little girl Sara West in 1993 and is up for parole this October. He goes up for parole every 5 years and needs to be kept behind bars until the end of his time. This happened in my home town of Zanesville, Ohio. I know it’s an older case but maybe if more people were made aware, it would keep him where he belongs.

The first thing that needs to be rid of in the United States is life insurance. The Maximum of Life Insurance should be 20,000 thousand dollars. So many people are killed due to life insurance. Sad. 😢😢😢
More than 20 thousand people are killed each year.

@jenna739 There are just as many "intense cases" that don't involve Mormons, or Christians of any sect, but if the media can sensationalize it by tying the perpetrator to Christianity, they get more mileage out if it. Just like how if a black dude kills a white dude. The media doesn't care, or they go out of their way to obscure the fact that the killer was black. However, if a white dude kills a black guy, it has the potential to make national news because it bolsters the narrative establishment apparatchiks are compelled to push.

    • @aprilshowers21
      @aprilshowers21 3 місяці тому +23

That is true technically, especially for men. But it is highly frowned upon and does bring judgement from other members, and it also disqualifies him for “higher” positions of leadership that he would otherwise qualify for… like bishop or stake president. Which if he had that in mind for his reason to avoid divorce is extra terrifying considering he was a full blown child predator and would have then had even more access, trust and one on one worthiness interviews with all of the youth in his congregation. That’s really terrifying if that was an end goal of his, and thank goodness he was caught, but poor Kathy. May she rest in peace…

In shadows deep, he makes his lair,
A narcissistic monster, void of care.
No heart within, no soul to share,
He only wants what's his, beware.
His eyes are cold, devoid of light,
A selfish being, fueled by spite.
He takes and takes, with no remorse,
A path of ruin, his chosen course.
    Empathy's a foreign land,
He crushes dreams with a heavy hand.
In his world, there's only "me,"
A monstrous ego, wild and free.
Beware the monster, cold and sly,
For in his grasp, true love will die.
He wants it all, and nothing less,
A heartless void, a soulless mess.
I wrote this after a 13-year marriage to a narcissistic monster! I have been happily divorced now for 5 years. Micheal, here is a perfect example of one!!!!

That is a very strong and revealing poem. My stepson is married to a narcissistic wife and they have an almost 3 year old daughter she is so cute. Unfortunately, we don't get to see her much and she is shy which means we don't get to hold her much either. My wife and I love her so much and want to be in her life, but her mom makes it very difficult for us because she sees my wife as a threat. I was considered the good guy up until I told them I had enough and that if they were going to continue to act the way they were and treat my wife with disrespect that they were no longer welcome at my house. So, we have only see them twice in the last few months and both times it felt very awkward because it almost seemed forced on their end and I think they had an ulterior motive on why they wanted to meet and when they weren't getting what they wanted it was time for them to leave. Just makes for a very awkward relationship and makes me sad because the baby is the one that is missing out the most.

Divorce is not against our religion. It isn't encouraged as the be-all answer to problems, but we realize that sometimes, it is the only answer if both people aren't willing to work on the marriage, or if abuse is happening, or other reasons. It is so sad to me that he manipulated this young lady by saying divorce is against his religion, but murder, adultery, pedophilia and other horrible things are apparently okay to him. It makes me sick. His sweet wife is such an amazing person to me, and her family. I am working on forgiveness for things in my life, and they are true inspirations to me.

It bugs me when people think the very few idiot/unethical/corrupt/inept law enforcement officials represent the masses.
I despise cops or any agency who do shit that makes the whole industry look bad but not as much as the majority of LEOs who actually respect the law and still consider themselves and their peers as he good guys.
Unfortunately, stories about LE who do the right thing, day in and day out for the duration of their entire career don’t make good content. That’s unfortunate because almost every single man and woman I’ve met (as a daughter AND wife of ethical law enforcement officers) have respected their oath. There have been one or two who have veered ofer the proverbial thin blue line and witnessed them the called out, reported and one fired. Both were never part of our lives after.

There's too many policemen with huge egos that goes before what's really good for the cases. They don't want to share information and believe that they're the soloist that only can solve the case. And they want all the credit for solving it. It's truly disturbing how many cases that has been suffering and not solved because of these egos.
When I was little I always thought that it was only the best of the best that could work with these kinds of work. Where your performance impact so many others and/or victims. Sadly, as an adult, I've learned that isn't the case. Some police is seriously a more danger to their position in line of work, than to any asset. And this isn't just for police, it's for politicians etc. All for their personal egos. Almost as bad as the criminals.

Absolutely! I have been betrayed by my stuff for so long! Moved into my home 8 years ago and remember thinking “there’s SO much space, I could never fill it”. Boy was I wrong! A son moving to and from college, then eventually out on his own. A surprise baby at age 40. Water in the basement on multiple occasions. The stuff accumulated at a ridiculous rate! Thank goodness I found your channel about a year or so ago and I have slowly but surely been going thru it. Made some great progress when I finally got my basement fixed and we had to get a dumpster. I let go of the guilt and feeling like I needed to sell everything to make money back. I’ve donated so much to family, friends and charity and that feels so good! If it wasn’t worth donating, it went right in the dumpster! Still have a long way to go but the fact that my house is becoming so much easier to manage and keep clean and organized makes the work worth it! I am motivated to continue!

Been there with FL hurricanes, 2005 that tore part of the roof off. In 1986 my home I owned burned down, while it was a rental, after I moved to FL. The renters barely made it out alive. I am so thankful they did! Kids set it on fire. It was a condo & it had to be rebuilt. In 2015, my Father asked me to move up North to take care of him, he was blind from macular degeneration & in his 90's. Three floors of my Dad's 1950s house, flooded from bad copper pipes, I replaced them. This stuff happens! Stay strong, I know the frustration, I am 70 and it has been a long road. "If it "ain't" one thing, it's another." 🥀🥀🥀 Watch the movie "The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks. It is about the troubles in home ownership & a comedy. It will help!

I think because of the abuse - I don't mind that she killed her abuser, but I do mind how she went about it & acted after. It was clearly premeditated. Her mom was clearly abusing her awfully. She manipulated someone else into doing it & then played victim. Then she got help & still doesn't really own up to it and starts manipulating others as well as the media. That's a pattern of behavior, she's not "changed" & her poor manipulated boyfriend a) shouldn't have gone along b) shouldn't have as severe a sentence.

It’s possible the “forgiveness exchange” never actually happened. Cathy was stabbed in the neck. Lisa was mentally unwell and clearly stressed under the guilt - plus there’s a whole religious dimension. It’s possible Lisa merely wished that she had asked for forgiveness, and wished that cathy had been able to say yes. This claim could just be Lisa’s twisted way of trying to emotionally absolve herself while also protecting herself from the law, the same way she thought being schizophrenic excused her. “If I say cathy forgave me, then maybe it will be harder to convict me”.

Blew my mind because I did it whenever he wanted, he was VERY romantic and caring to me texting me loving thing while at work. And was always with me when I was home, with no weird phone activity, so I didn't suspect anything!😖.Sex addict 😩

OMG I have always loved the way you say “alwayz”. I’m so happy you pointed that out lol. ❤

Me too!!!! To both parts. For me, it sounds more like alwas. I've always wondered if it was a California accent.

I am LDS. While our faith believes in doing all you can to save your marriage, it is absolutely NOT against our religion to get a divorce. In fact, my husband has held a high calling, and there are times when it's obvious a marriage can't be saved, that the couple are then encouraged to divorce.

Why is “Mormon” not used by LDS members to describe themselves? Also, why do LDS folks refer to themselves as Christians when their reverence of Joseph Smith and other apostles is a major tenet of the religion? I’ve been researching the Mormon faith a bit and have more questions than answers…

Yes but marriage is heavily pushed on single members & divorce is HEAVILY SCRUTINIZED & there’s a LOT of members who have to suppress so much of their real selves just to serve the church. -a humble opinion from an ex Mormon.

Is that “once this train starts rolling” line in the manual somewhere because it seems like so many detectives have used it 😂😂😂

These are the cases where they need to bring back "an eye for an eye" I can not even begin to imagine just how terrified Cathy had to have been. She was already traumatized and one of her biggest fears was somebody breaking into their home and harming her to the extent that she made it a point to double check all of the locks every single night. Only for her worst nightmare to come to life in the most horrific way. I just can't wrap my head around any of it. People are truly SICK SICK SICK.

Great coverage. Good details.. one suggestion… more of the interrogation footage would be great. Did the sentence of seven years for child assault get added to the 35 years for second degree murder?

I’m genuinely curious - did you watch the interrogation & notice some key points were missing? I trust Annie to give me the good parts, this will erode my trust if she left out juicy parts😮

Hey Annie, idk if you know this but you say “always” like the blink 182 song “always” which is implanted in my brain as one of the cutest love songs, so, you good girl.

I cannot imagine how Catherine must have felt as she was attacked… she was already paranoid and her biggest fear came to fruition

The thing to remember about this case is Kathy's strong and wonderful faith.
