Love shirt pixel, much prefer the idea of compression on upload rather than page load. Be super interested to see a paid version comparison as I pay for shortpixel
Love this video. Im starting to learn how to get really good performance on my wordpress sites. Like double A rating 95-100% on gtmetrix, low requests and page size. But im not totally sure about best image optimize plugin because i dont want that plugin to do other stuff than just taking care of the images - scaling, compressing, lazy loading without issues and possibly serving them from a CDN.
@@wplearninglab I started a music blog, You Make My World Rock about 3 years ago. I always resized my photos before uploading, but I didn't do any compression or other optimizing. So I wanted the ability for the optimization to happen on all my previous pictures too if people were looking at older posts, not just new ones that I am adding. It was my understanding that ShortPixel would only optimize pictures that I uploaded from now on. My Squintillions blog is not as picture heavy and is relatively new, so if I only had that, I might have used ShortPixel.
THE FREE VERSION OF OPTIMOLE DELIVERS YOUR IMAGES VIA CDN ALSO :D It is crazy good!! If you go pro, they say you will get a slightly better CDN but still it is the best plugin for image optimization for wordpress, because it has it ALL - without a doubt!
Shortpixel broked my images, after long time of search found amp solution but this time amp blocked some plugins, than found solutions of deactivate plugins and avtivate back one by one to find wich plugin couses, learned that shortpixel does it
@@wplearninglab yes, and than i delete shortpixel. Now looking for another plugin. Saw that cloufflare also does it,should i try optimel or cloudflare dont know.
@@wplearninglab yeap, I was premium user of shortoixel, I deactivate all off my plugins and than my images problem ended, I activate one by one my plugins and found out short pixel was causing the problem. I delete short pixel. after watching your video I am going to try optimole.
2:06 Does compressing ppi for a digital/web image do any help? I believe it doesn't make a difference unless you decrease the actual pixels, correct me if I am wrong.
I personally dont want anything else than image related things to be taken care of with image optimization plugin. Because you should have a cache plugin and a CDN for the other optimization techniques like minify etc. Im using optimole and it seems to be working well because they serve your images from their own CDN too which seems fast and their compression is great. One of my images is not getting served through the plugin though and im not sure why not.. But optimole seems great
Solid work as ways, Bjorn-you are a powerhouse! I'm sure you're probably already considering an update to this video since ShortPixel has adopted the adaptive approach of Optimole. But my question is concerning CDNs: what if you have already set up one? Does it matter to have CDN sandwiched into CDN? At what point does this redundancy or duplication become a problem? I'd love to hear your wisdom on thins-thanks so much!
😂 Thanks for the support Wolverine. Looks like hater bots. But there are some recent videos on the channel that still don't have a thumbs down. Maybe I had a bad hair day in this one, that's not uncommon.
We currently use Smush to compress all of our images but are considering purchasing ShortPixel as we are wanting to be able to convert our images into Web P, can you run both plugins at the same time?
You can, but it's not recommended. In general when two plugins do the same or similar things, it's not a good idea run them both at the same time. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
I only use ImageOptim on mac for all my image compression before upload. Would be interesting to know if any further compression could be gained using one of your top 2. Just a thought, thanks for another great topic.
There are other things that has to be done than simply compressing images.. Things such as, lazy loading images and serving them from a CDN, using placeholder images before it lazy loads etc. are all things that you need a image plugin for.
I need to ask 1 small question.. I had a domain from other company & hosting from other company. Now my domain is expired. But my hosting still going. I need to connect other domain with the same hosting. Pl help me. Thank you
No because with CDN´s, it uses compressing to deliver files like G-zip compression, which means it will deliver smaller files and also faster because server is closer to user.
Hello again! Do you know of a good plugin for sending automated emails on a schedule (every 3-4 days) to MEMBERS on my website? - It must be able to integrate custom post type posts into the emails..
Hi Michael, I know lots of tools for automating email followup, but I wouldn't recommend any plugin that sends email right from your website. I'm also not sure what you mean by "integrate custom post type posts". Do you mean that the email needs to be generated from the posts when they are published? Are all the emails sent as posts are published? Or do you create all the emails and then schedule them and then each new member starts at the beginning of the email sequence?
Every email needs to be scheduled. And then it needs to pull the dynamic custom post type posts from my wordpress site and display them in the email template. And it should send an email with new posts every 3-4 days or so by itself.@@wplearninglab
My choice is Shortpixel and am using for the last 1.5 years no issues at all. Thank you.
Can you make a video on needed plugins for wordpress website?? Like security plugin, image optimize, or whatever plugins you feel are needed
Thank you for this. Very helpful, can you also do a video on Vivid image optimization to see how it compares?
Yep, I've added that to my list, thanks for the suggestion!

Hey, Make a comparison video on Yoast Seo Premium and Rank Math Seo plugin.
\Very informative video! I tried Optimole and it messed with the website template :| Any idea why this happens? Thanks
Thank you. I ended up going with Optimole, though ShortPixel would have been a close second. My music blog can be picture heavy.
Both options are great. Do you mind sharing which feature of Optimole sold you on it?

These plugins offer more features than just image compression. I'd like to see a feature comparison in addition to compression percentages.

Hi,
I need to ask 1 small question..

You usually add your domain to your hosting as a "Add-on domain" inside you Cpanel in your hosting..
Thank me later
which free plugin has the feature of image lazy load?
Optimole has Lazy load, dunno about the others.
thanks
You’re welcome Sithum, thanks for watching!
This dude looks like will smith so we have to include this image. HAHA Love it.
Optimole is SO good!
Hey Michael,
Yep, Optimole is pretty awesome. I default to ShortPixel at the moment. They're pretty much identical in functionality.
In 2019 still no there "Robin image optimizer" ???
But isnt serving from cdn slower tha optimizing in files?
No because with CDN´s, it uses compressing to deliver files like G-zip compression, which means it will deliver smaller files and also faster because server is closer to user.
Thanks for replying for me Michael, that one fell through the cracks.
