Same, but it wasn't any of my family members. My grandmother lived in a sort of apartment complex specifically for elders who are still independent enough to not need to go to a Home, but who's children are worried about their safety. Before the symptoms of Alzheimers were more obvious, my grandmother's neighbors took advantage of that and would steal things from her, knowing that she wouldn't remember. When confronted, they would be like "But she gave it to me! Right, Ramona?" My mother managed to get some stuff back after threatening to have security go through their apartments, but unfortunately some stuff had been given away to grandchildren who lived out of state and would have required a long and pricy legal battle.
Hi Christine, i hope you read this comment. that part where you are sitting on the bed talking about your antique, holding your precious DOG and your cat is grabbing your hand is priceless moment. selena cordeiro You could not possibly be MORE right. Every, repeat EVERYTHING made in the past 30 (if not linger) or so years has been made with planned obsolescence. I’m 58 and remember when I was a kid....when either of my parents bought something nice or expensive, it’d cost them an arm and/or a leg but it would LAAAAST. But since the late 70’s/early 80’s, if we want to do the same we have to pay 3 arms & 4 legs and it’ll last for MAYBE an f’ing year 🤬🤬
She is so talented, it's frankly overwhelming. Painting, sewing, baking, photography, building... the list goes on and on. Not to mention stunningly gorgeous. What can't she do?!
The hand painted “wallpaper” is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen but when she opened the vintage fridge and it was all vegan products in there it sealed the deal- she’s my new favorite person. Her aesthetic is *chefs kisses*
We love a crafty queen. I can't believe how much of your stuff is thrifted or built from scratch. It's incredible how elegant you make everything look.
If this was my house - I wouldn't want strangers in my house. Let alone touching my things, maybe even breaking them (yes airbnb guests will often break and/or scratch your shit).. Not all people will respect how some vintage things are fragile and easily breakable
@@Kitty__Lazer Personally, I already dislike the idea of someone I don't consider a friend to enter my room (possibly because it shows a lot of my personality and it makes me feel vulnerable). The idea of complete strangers staying at my house just irks me. I would no longer feel like it's home, which is probably rather weird
When the video started I thought her house would look gothic. I'm was surprised at how wrong I was. I'm so inspired by her style, and how she made alot of her pieces. She also doesn't spend alot of money. This is one of the most beautiful homes I ever saw, it's so dreamy.

You recently said in a Q & A on a Patreon Live video that you’d like to move into an old home and start a renovation in Mass. I know Mass is super expensive but Northeastern PA is full of old homes that need TLC and way cheaper. That’s what my husband and I did and it’s a nice area. All of the seasons and reasonable prices.
So I'm from California but I moved to Texas a few years ago. I was totally floored by how many beautiful old, Victorian homes are even out here in some if these towns. I just want to buy them all. Right, Ramona?"
My mother managed to get some stuff back after threatening to have security go through their apartments, but unfortunately some stuff had been given away to grandchildren who lived out of state and would have required a long and pricy legal battle.
“I couldn’t afford wallpaper so I had painted my walls...” with 10x more class and skill! Girls got skills!
And patience! I can’t even imagine the amount of hours put in
So I gotta ask...
How much is wallpaper?
Originally using wallpaper was the cheaper alternative to painting the walls, so it’s kinda ironic she painted the “wallpaper” (also super cool!)
Ikr goals
So..she is a carpenter, she landscapes, she bakes, paints, have an eye for antique stuff and sews ?
🤔😎
Don't forget...interior designer...baker/chef (check out her Winchester House video)...pet mom...
and a model, art director, maybe photographer
This is known as a gay man in a woman's body. Trisha paytas has nothing on this lady
@@nailbunny2326 What does that mean? A gay man in a womans body? Cant a woman do all these things without being compared to a man?
Hi Christine, i hope you read this comment. that part where you are sitting on the bed talking about your antique, holding your precious DOG and your cat is grabbing your hand is priceless moment. THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL moment in this video....... BLESS you and your kind loving heart.
"she has yet to come out with a 'dead old lady' color"
That's my favorite lipstick color too lol.
Menoetia me too
Same, and catsuit has so many good 'dead old lady' colors
the thing i love about her is that she really inspires me to create things for my own space rather than spending a lot of money on things that aren't exactly what i want but i settle for cause technically what i favour isn't socially acceptable or trendy etc. i love this episode :)
I agree! I've gotten really into DIY stuff lately, and sometimes, the internet can make it seem like it's all just wasting time and effort for tacky/shoddy results, but watching Christine DIY is so inspiring! It makes me want to go make everything myself!
Yeah! And me, I like vintage and antiques. You can't just buy that stuff, so it makes it a challenge. But I find the older stuff is built to last.
Never settle!!! Its such a burden to look back at all the time you wasted spending time doing something you didnt 100% want! Trust me, as pressurizing society can seem you must learn to not let them get to you. Life is short, live it to your hearts potential :)
The part that most amazes me is that you would even consider moving away from this house after the huge amount of work you've put into it!
The lazy-susan in the fridge made me go "whoooooaaa!"
me too
Google User it would probably break in a couple of years if modern manufacturers made it lol. None of our fridges now will last as long as hers has.
selena cordeiro You could not possibly be MORE right. Every, repeat EVERYTHING made in the past 30 (if not linger) or so years has been made with planned obsolescence. I’m 58 and remember when I was a kid....when either of my parents bought something nice or expensive, it’d cost them an arm and/or a leg but it would LAAAAST. But since the late 70’s/early 80’s, if we want to do the same we have to pay 3 arms & 4 legs and it’ll last for MAYBE an f’ing year 🤬🤬
Google User lolol so true, that response made my day 🤣
right! why dont these features still exist? that would be so hand!
She is just Sabrina's Spellman lost auntie
Omg yes
my EXACT thought!! glad I'm not alone
She is so talented, it's frankly overwhelming. Painting, sewing, baking, photography, building... the list goes on and on. Not to mention stunningly gorgeous. What can't she do?!
The downvotes are the fools she has buried in her back yard.
It should be those pricks at netlfix for cancelling her show
This comment made me chuckle 😂
🤣🤣🤣👏🏻

'Seconded'...!
The hand painted “wallpaper” is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen but when she opened the vintage fridge and it was all vegan products in there it sealed the deal- she’s my new favorite person. Her aesthetic is *chefs kisses*
Also her PAINtED FLOOR!!!!!!
Sweet and innocent with a hint of murderous secrets, I love your aesthetic so much.
Literally wakes up on the ground with leaves in her hair and still looks gorgeous
"I built it myself." Christine McConnell is my #1 feminist icon.
this woman is obviously some sort of magical being. she's so good at so many things! she has way too much talent.
We love a crafty queen. I can't believe how much of your stuff is thrifted or built from scratch. It's incredible how elegant you make everything look.
We love a supportive queen.
And like S*Y* Christine is a self made youtube genius. ❤
You can turn this into an AIRBNB. People would totally pay to go to your house lol
I totally agree!!!!!!!
I would love to visit this place. It's like you took my idea of a dream house and put it in a mountain cottage.
If this was my house - I wouldn't want strangers in my house. Let alone touching my things, maybe even breaking them (yes airbnb guests will often break and/or scratch your shit)..
Not all people will respect how some vintage things are fragile and easily breakable
@Lyn Or hauling her stuff away
@@Kitty__Lazer Personally, I already dislike the idea of someone I don't consider a friend to enter my room (possibly because it shows a lot of my personality and it makes me feel vulnerable). The idea of complete strangers staying at my house just irks me. I would no longer feel like it's home, which is probably rather weird
When the video started I thought her house would look gothic. I'm was surprised at how wrong I was. I'm so inspired by her style, and how she made alot of her pieces. She also doesn't spend alot of money. This is one of the most beautiful homes I ever saw, it's so dreamy.
I love how HER her house is, but I can't help thinking that it would be a nightmare to dust.
Same haha like so much to pick up, clean under etc
Doing a bit everyday isn't a big problem, with regularity, less dust settles and the job becomes easier.
Source: cleaning lady for 6+ years.
I think she actually likes a little and I stress little bit of dust here and there - like on her bottles of poison! She is so awesome - it kills me!
I was thinking that too!! She's maybe not too meticulous; I'm sure I saw bits of cobwebs on a couple things.
When you have a wand it's no problem
The bounce of her curls when she walked down the stairs made me pass away
Tara Sutherland same
Her hair is just...swooooon....
Makes me appreciate more antiques. People in the past were detailed and made by hand.
More fridges need the lazy Susan feature, stuff always gets forgotten in the back, and that would fix it!
Also, I WISH I had her creativity. She makes me want to make things, but as soon as I sit down to design or create something, my brain goes blank. I am in awe at her mind
Is there literally ANYTHING she can't do? 😍
Literally NOPE. She can do anything!
Season 2
Dexter Tyler no, she CAN do it, Netflix on the other hand sucks and didn’t do it
@@msemilyxoxoxo Ya got me there
Be short. She's terrible at being short.
Her house is like a pleasant nightmare. What a talented woman. Just amazing.
This is the level of "do it yourself" I strive to have in the future! You are a unique and amazing force in the creative community!!
"Cats ruin everything but they make the world better."
The confusing thing is how much sense that statement made....
IDK how I got here, but this woman has nothing new and I love it. The effort put into restoration and creative adulteration is amazing.
For the love of god, please make a house renovation series as soon as you've found a new house!
agreed, we all need that in our lives! Fixer Upper - gothic Christine McConnell version!
I would SO watch that.
and the Goddess! This would be an awesome show ...where is the petition I will sign it x
"I'm cheap and I like to do things myself," is a statement I have also said. One of my dreams is to also redo a house from diy scratch. Haha. PS. How do you tackle the pet hair?
Carolyn Oshanek I am thinking about the same thing😅I have a dyson, a swiffer and a vacuum robot. I don’t have that many things on the floor but I still have cat hair occasionally in my mouth😂
Gurrrrl, I can only speak for myself, but DUCT TAPE.
Do it!! It's hard work and time consuming.
I'm still working on #1911 craftsman home and loving every minute of it 💙🏡💙
Best advice that I can give you is to join a your local Historical Preservation commission or society.
Christine: Talking about her favourite antique picnic basket
Professor Poof: Imma gonna get your arm!
I saw that too!! So cute!!
Those painted walls are gorgeous, but I cringe a little inside when I think of how long it must’ve taken to do them all. 😅
I love what you did with the kitchen cabinets. 💕 It’s always a bit sad when you see all the character stripped away from a beautiful old house.
"Cats ruin everything, but they make the world better" - Christine McConnell 2019
Best quote we have every heard, so true. Haha.
I'm in between fascinated, creeped out, speechless and blown away! ...in a positive way
I like who I am, but I REALLY want to be her.
« I like who I am » 💘
Go for it!!
*him*
your house is possibly the best thing i have ever seen.
I have been struggling with my identity after these past few years and this video helped remind me how creative and tenacious I once was. Thank you for sharing what you have built.
Christine is living what I keep telling myself. "Do what you can, when you can, with what you have." 🤗
This woman is the witch I wish I could be.
Manifestation!!!
Came for the vintage aesthetic, stayed for the comfortable cat poses. Love your channel ❤️
Honestly? I dig these web uploads more than the netflix show.
Meaghan K right! The puppets threw me off. I thought it was a kids show
Allison Spray same. They were cute and all but this feels a lot more personal and not so scripted.
I still miss the Netflix show. Mostly Rose.
Agreed, the hokey/dirtiness was totally unnecessary
“This might not excite too many people,” when she’s talking about a picnic basket/gramophone hybrid, I think everyone that watches you was dying when you played the record 😫
That is one of the coolest things I have seen in a long time, and can totally picture the kind of couple that would have owned it.
It was totally awesome. I never heard of such a thing, and now I need one. Lol.
My dad used to carry me on his shoulders and walk around the house singing that song.
yep I would own that and take it out on our Steampunk picnics!! and grew up with that song in Nineteen Hundred and sixty something
what i love about christine's videos: I feel like a lot of other content creators would point to a fake flower display and be like "ohh i sourced these vegan hemp-silk flowers from a local organic farm community, who sell many homemade crafts in order to provide past-life counseling for underpriveledged alpacas in this area." and Christine's just like "yeah i got these at hobby lobby"
She's like us, and also not like us.
I'd be so grateful if you started a dress making class. Between you and Bernadette Banner, I'm eager to learn.
omg yes. Both very classy women!
Check out Gertie from Gertie's World here on youtube she's cool and vintagey and makes her own dresses also you might like Laci Fay the Vintage girl next door although not sure if she sews her own dresses.
LOL i was really impressed when she was about to show us her Room O' Crap (cause we all know how bad ours is too) but she stayed on brand, i love it!
I NEED TO ACHIEVE THIS LEVEL OF AESTHETIC IN MY LIFE I JUST FALL IN LOVE WITH THAT KITCHEN!!
Not gonna lie. I thought she was just really rich and had all luxury furniture. I think it’s great that she seems to always use what she has, but actual vintage objects, and takes care of it! I love that she Diy’d the wallpaper! Such a neat idea!✨💙
"saving it for my dream home" SIS THIS IS MY DREAM HOME
What a dream life you have created for yourself and an amazing testament to just diving in and putting in the time to learn and master skills.
She reminds me so much of the mother in Coraline, just imagine her with button eyes. Even the house reminds me of the movie!
I have a feeling that the movie Coraline is right up her alley. I got Other Mother vibes from her as well.
Duuuuude omg I just died. Accurate AF
Live action
I have thought the same!
I love that your cat has a stage name
22:05 your cat drinking from the teacup in the back melted my heart
I was the one who asked about the headphones 😅 I screamed when she addressed it... love Gunship too! 😍 Christine is such a treasure and so humble
Oh my word, I bet you did lol !!.. What an honour..Happy for you Jessica x
Don't sell the house.... make it a creepy AirBnB!
Yes please I’d stay there
I started renovating my apartment, inspired by your art.Nothing hard, just time consuming.Plastering the walls and painting. The negative response from the family is still overwhelming; its so hardwired in people that renovations need to happen in a week, by a group of angry men that make all of the decisions and do a pretty bad job; but their bad job is more worth then yours slow and good progress; because one is a woman and more or less shouldnt learn, do or try doing anything.
@ evgenia Great observation. Sorry you’re living it but sounds like it’s already making you stronger and more determined. 👏🏼👏🏽👏
Artistic vision takes time.
I don't know who this person is, or how I got here, but it's like when Purell first came out - I now know I need it, but didn't know it existed 5 seconds ago.
What is Purell?
@@krislupi66 Purell is an alcohol - based gelatinous hand sanitizer, that some people use in substitution for hand washing with soap, and water. It is not as effective as soap, and water at killing bacteria, viruses, etc.
I KNOW! I found her via 'Hooked on Houses' - this woman is SO talented! I LOVE people who can create a home without spending a TON of money. I love old houses but also don't like when they 'update' a bathroom or kitchen - I could go on and ON about this woman - I just so admire her.
@@cloudywoods You're getting me excited, kiddo! I can feel your energy, and love of house remodelling!
oh my god, same.
This was in my recommendations. I was hooked when she asked "how did you get out of your cage?" "Get the handcuffs" lol I love it 🤣
The Victrola picnic basket is amazing!!
It's official I have found the ultimate domestic witch... and I adore you, I also adore Dita Von Tease (with whom I understand you are friends with). I love the vibe, very similar to the show "chilling adventures of Sabrina" also my jam. Thank you so so so much for being wonderful and unique. As well as giving the rest of us courage to do so. I will now commence bombarding my friends with all of your videos on UA-cam. Xoxoxo
So dark and creepy
Omg. That picnic grammophon suitcase is AMAZING!
This house is like the complete opposite of my personal taste but damn is it incredibly gorgeous! Amazing job!
Wow. Doing all these things by yourself, that's great. When you say "my" house, the word has a really deep meaning.
I'm not into the whole "Arsenic and Lace" look, but you seem to have real comfort in the style and it suits you very nicely, in such a charming way. I very much enjoy the channel.
First of all the house is amazing but what really shocked me is when she said she hand painted/carved/built everything? Incredible 😫
And some of them are dirt cheap because they haven't been modernized. I can't imagine how many there could be in areas even older than here in the East.
hunnyflash I would love to go to Texas!!! Our house was built around 1860. It’s a labor of love. Lol! Some days I love it, some days not so much. Lol!
Omg, yes! So many beautiful old mansions here in Erie that need to be brought back to their glory.... Move here please!!!
Another place to watch for old houses might be Detroit, it's not northeast but lots of old homes with good bones.
@@carolineapodaca525 Detroit is still in decline, whole neighborhoods are abandoned and there are places the police just won't go anymore, I wouldn't suggest anyone move there right now.
Oh my goodness Christine is the most wonderful combination of Lana Del Rey and Morticia Adams. Like she has this timeless beauty and grace mixed with this lovely gothic feel and her whole aesthetic is so unique. The house is gorgeous! Whoever ends up buying it will definitely be one lucky soul.
"I could not afford wallpaper so I just handpainted the whole room" to look like FLUFFING HEAVEN.. jesus i would be actually mad, if she and the place weren't so perfect and nice to watch
she is just so ethereal like does she even really exist
Little bit of spookiness I agree..
I wish you wouldn’t sell this and instead made it into a destination rental because gosh it’s just AMAZING, and I don’t trust someone to not ruin it. 😭
She is selling it?i m new here..
Cheri Whitley she’s not :) She is going to be offering it as a vacation house to Patreon members. Make sure to subscribe!
That's exactly what she is doing
I really hope that whoever buys this house keeps the aesthetic of it and just genuinely appreciates everything that Christine put into it. Like the painted wallpaper is so delicately made and the cupboards in the kitchen are so quaint. It just makes me sad to think that those types of styles are so easily dismissed when it comes to buying/redecorating houses
I feel so seen and held by your presence, just like I do during thunder and lightning storms. Thank you for being you and sharing all your beautiful work. This video came at a suspiciously good time. I've been struggling a lot lately with fear around being myself. So seeing you living out your dreams makes me think maybe I can too.
Aqua Mihara always be yourself, dont change who you are for anyone. life is to short not to be who you wanna be
You can do it! I've discovered if people don't like who I am I don't have to be around them. And I'm much happier just being with my family(and those close friends who are also family). So be you! T
