    It's so refreshing that Christine McConnell is candid about limited budgets, not being organised, and not consistently being as tidy as we see when the house is "camera-ready"! It does not make a dent in her mystique if you ask me; on the contrary, I find her even more impressive and relatable!

      @@Frankenzebra house boat kitchens are better! They are small on purpose and include fix+fits made for small spaces, our house kitchens have standard cupboards and appliances in them that don't actually fit, lol! Last place I had did not have space for the kitchen door, also I don't think you could open the oven when someone was in the bathroom either. But yh, for her level of art she needs more kitchen space, I am amazed she has managed so much in that, admittedly adorable, space.

    • @felicitygee381
      @felicitygee381 5 років тому +1

      @Michele no worries, it was kinda true and it is very funny. So, yes, our kitchens often have doors, but the door was removed because it couldn't have opened.
      The door to the bathroom on the other wall only opened part way because the kitchen counter was in the way (cut at an angle to allow door to open). The oven door opened across that entrance/exit space, so anyone in the bathroom could not get out if oven was open. It was just a really bad landlord fix up cheap job, but.... I don't live there anymore (yay!).

    My heart breaks and my head still in disbelief knowing that when my grandmother passed most of her belongings that she kept all those years could have been so loved by someone like you. Instead my brother (his wife actually) went through the home and selected everything she wanted and then boxed everything else up and out in the driveway for a middle of the week garage sale for 3 hours and what wasn’t purchased was thrown away or dropped off at goodwill. I’m over the fact that I wasn’t contacted to collect anything to have something to hold memories I can be reminded of often but knowing there are people out there who would love and cherish the items and things my grandmother loved, cherish and took good care of for most of her life that she had them till the end….only to be tossed out like garbage. It was heartbreaking. Looking at your home walkthrough gave me moments of good memories I haven’t thought of for years and some I had forgotten all together and it felt really good to remember them so thank you for that.

      Same, but it wasn't any of my family members.
      My grandmother lived in a sort of apartment complex specifically for elders who are still independent enough to not need to go to a Home, but who's children are worried about their safety. Before the symptoms of Alzheimers were more obvious, my grandmother's neighbors took advantage of that and would steal things from her, knowing that she wouldn't remember. When confronted, they would be like "But she gave it to me! Right, Ramona?"
      My mother managed to get some stuff back after threatening to have security go through their apartments, but unfortunately some stuff had been given away to grandchildren who lived out of state and would have required a long and pricy legal battle.

    I started renovating my apartment, inspired by your art.Nothing hard, just time consuming.Plastering the walls and painting.The negative response from the family is still overwhelming; its so hardwired in people that renovations need to happen in a week, by a group of angry men that make all of the decisions and do a pretty bad job; but their bad job is more worth then yours slow and good progress; because one is a woman and more or less shouldnt learn, do or try doing anything.

      I KNOW! I found her via 'Hooked on Houses' - this woman is SO talented! I LOVE people who can create a home without spending a TON of money. I love old houses but also don't like when they 'update' a bathroom or kitchen - I could go on and ON about this woman - I just so admire her.

I love the vibe, very similar to the show "chilling adventures of Sabrina" also my jam. Thank you so so so much for being wonderful and unique. As well as giving the rest of us courage to do so. I will now commence bombarding my friends with all of your videos on UA-cam. Xoxoxo

    You recently said in a Q & A on a Patreon Live video that you’d like to move into an old home and start a renovation in Mass. I know Mass is super expensive but Northeastern PA is full of old homes that need TLC and way cheaper. That’s what my husband and I did and it’s a nice area. All of the seasons and reasonable prices.

      So I'm from California but I moved to Texas a few years ago. I was totally floored by how many beautiful old, Victorian homes are even out here in some if these towns. I just want to buy them all. And some of them are dirt cheap because they haven't been modernized. I can't imagine how many there could be in areas even older than here in the East.

    I really hope that whoever buys this house keeps the aesthetic of it and just genuinely appreciates everything that Christine put into it. Like the painted wallpaper is so delicately made and the cupboards in the kitchen are so quaint. It just makes me sad to think that those types of styles are so easily dismissed when it comes to buying/redecorating houses
