I installed three of these at a children’s home in Mexico and was able to massively increase cellular service for the Director and house parents. Fantastic products!
Thank you for the truly honest review, Tyler! I’m glad kind, honest, and caring people like yourself still exist in today’s world. You are truly an amazing person. Keep up the great and quality filled content!
I can definitely see a use for this product and being that an antenna is involved and signals,it fits right in to your channel's content. i hate when channels about technology advertise say 'blenders' or 'Shaving products'. Informative and supportive of your channel.
My home was built in 1940 with expanded metal (wire mesh) for the plaster lath. The 'Faraday cage' effect has been a nuisance since I was a kid, in the 60's -- no FM, very little AM, almost no weather radio or broadcast TV. Everything requires an outdoor antenna. So I have a decent tower, and good OTA TV. Step outside and you'll have plenty of signal. Step inside and your cell phone is as dead as fried chicken. (This makes it interesting when a visitor is expecting a call). I've looked into solutions (repeaters) over the years, and nothing really looked too promising / affordable, but now you've got me willing to revisit that 'mission'. It would be cool to remedy this once and for all.
@@rbarr775 I found this guys video “debunking” it an actually working because more bars is not great. It’s download speeds and he was finding that it wasn’t impressive. So yet again, I’m avoiding getting better reception. Ugh
@@bdmenne Anyone "debunking" this is being misleading. It's a repeater, so its only going to work if where you place the outdoor antenna the signal is decent. If you setup the outdoor antenna where there's still next to no signal the repeater isn't going to help.
They do work in specific circumstances like Tyler pointed out. They do not support MIMO paths so don’t expect blazing fast data speeds. But they will get a call through. Also note you have to have a signal outside to start with. It cannot boost nothing.
Hey Tyler, have you ever had a strange, crazy or perilous antenna install? I, for one, would love to hear about non-routine installations you may have experienced. THANKS! Please keep up the great work and stay safe!
I actually shared a video about this on my Patreon. Most of the stories were just doing things to get all local channels in challenging conditions (I live in a very mountainous area). A few stories consisted of me almost falling off the roof/ladder which is one of the reasons why I no longer offer antenna installations locally anymore.
Make sure the two antennas can't see/hear each other. Otherwise there will be feedback and the amp will have to turn down the volume of the booster. Kinda like pointing a microphone at the amp/speakers will give you feedback.
I have poor cell phone reception at my house. This is not a problem because I use the Wi-Fi calling feature on my phone. My carrier supports it and it works very well. I can use my cell phone to make or take phone calls even when I'm in my basement. Most modern cell phones have this feature. Just check with your carrier if they support it and if they allow it on your specific phone model.
@@Dads1978 This is true. Every solution has its pros and cons. I guess I'm lucky enough to say that it's extremely rare when my internet goes out. I'm fine with my solution but I can see how this can be beneficial to others. 🙂
I installed a docking station in my truck for my I phone. The docking station has an internal antenna. The external antenna is on the outside of the truck. The problem i encountered was the docking station and the external antenna were too close causing feedback. The antenna manufacturer suggested the antennas needed to be 50 feet apart. My solution was to move the antenna to the back of my truck on the topper. The top is fiberglass. I purchase a ground plane plate tuned to the correct frequency and metalized shielding fabric. I glued the fabric to the underside of the fabric to the topper and grounded it to the ground plane, making a Faraday cage. No more feedback.
I have questions: How far does the boosted signal travel outside of the house? Will my neighbors receive improved service as well? And, if they do, will multiple cell phone users impact the performance of the boosted service?
Hi Tyler. I appreciate all your great product reviews. For this one, you tested with download and upload speeds but I didn't see what the appreciable dBm gain was after the install. I am considering this product however the outside signal here is -110 dBm. I want to be sure this will work despite the low signal level outside. It would be nice to know what gain for achieved. Thanks
I have the Dot model. I live smack-dab in the middle of a suburb of 40K, but equidistant away from 3 of my towers (each almost exactly 1½ mile away from me). Before, I was lucky to get one bar, had choppy voice calls and hardly any data throughput. There was some trial-and error getting it going. Aiming the outdoor antenna toward the tower south of me gave me best results. YMMV. The dot now gives me 2 to 3 bars. Quite happy.
I set my Mom up on cellular home phone. There are very few features, but I could place the transponder in a window with good coverage. Mom likes using her regular phone with dial tone, and the cost is far less than for wired service.
I bought one last year ,It helped ! One of my daughter's has At@t and got no signal, now gets 3 bars when it's plugged in. I bought it for Verizon but soon after I bought it we cut the cord and switched to T Mobile ,there is a tower close by.
Thanks again for everything that you do. I only get reception if I travel to almost the top of the mountain here so I doubt this would work for me. Hopefully when the fiber line drop is installed. I will have a WiFi signal strong enough for my phone to work correctly.
I have a business that’s 2000 sq feet, the whole location is a dead zone the only cell service that it picks up is Verizon. Would this work for my location and is there a limit to how many cell phones could be using the booster at any given moment?
I have been through the cell phone booster scenario many times and have not had a lot of luck. I tried 3 different manufactures with the same end result "Not Good"! My last attempt at getting a "GOOD" cell phone connection uses a different approach. Since I have Verizon service, I purchased Verizon's "LTE Network Extender". This unit plugs into your WiFi router and connects to cell phones using the cell signal and converts it to send over the internet, where it goes back out to the distant phone. There is also a GPS antenna (about 1" square with 10' of wire) that I have in the window. When in our RV in the mountains the cell phones around us only get 1 bar, if they are lucky, we ALWAYS get 4 bars. Inside the RV and about 25' around it you get 4 bars using this LTE Network Extender. Other RVers come to stand around our RV to make their Cell phone calls. Since Camp Grounds only have Access Points and no hard connections, I purchased a Joowin WiFi router/booster/bridge which uses WiFi to connect to the Camp ground AP and the Verizon LTE Network Extender plugs into that and communicates to cell phones using cell phone frequencies. The best idea I had. I tossed more than $1200 worth of other Cell phone signal extenders into the trash. I can not tell how many hours I spent on the phone with various support groups with no success. Oh, the wife loves it. No dropped calls, Face Time with the grand children, and large pictures get sent in seconds. You can't go wrong. When we go home the unit sits in the living room to give us 4 bars.
Is there a professional version of this product? I know that convention centers and other large buildings often have repeaters like this, but there are small businesses and whatnot that would benefit from a device like this.
Do you know of a vendor that sells a 3ft or 6ft antenna pole. I need at least 3 feet to clear my roof from where it would be mounted. I can only find a 10" Wilson pole.
Verizon gave us one because we're in a known dead area. Runs on a gps signal so the unit should be set by a south facing window. Works great and free as long as we are Verizon subscribers.
I’ve seen something similar in use at a pub in rural New South Wales. From my understanding, these things must be professionally installed and only work with one phone network. In this case, it’s Telstra.
Maybe it was the app version. The same thing happened with the MyGica TV tuner dongle for android phones. The old app worked fine but the new "updated" app didn't have sound.
Same here, nothing. With the old app I could get on the roof and see the signal change from tower to tower as I adjusted, almost immediately. Now it's just dead in the water.
Awesome review I did one question do u haft to mount the antenna peice outside or can u just mount it in a window cause I don't really have a way to get up and mount the antenna on the roof of my house so I was wondering to see if they would work as 2 indoor antennas?
I tried a booster provided by Verizon and it seemed to “confuse” my cell phone on whether to use the Verizon network or the Wi-Fi signal on the phone. I had to disconnect the booster. Perhaps the booster would be helpful if Wi-Fi every went out of service. Have you ever heard of a cell phone dropping calls because it does not know which signal to use, (carrier signal vs. Wi-Fi)?
Could you explain how the booster works as a WiFi router using the Wi-Fi antenna? Does that become a Wi-Fi router that any device can connect to? How does that differ from the cell signal from the indoor antenna panel? Thanks
@ So what is the difference between what comes out of the “Wi-Fi antenna” vs. the indoor antenna panel? Could the antenna panel not be necessary in some circumstances?
It depends what bands the home internet uses. The signal booster doesn't work with the 600MHz 5G band T-mobile uses in some areas. Verizon it would probably work for.
I had a signal booster in the past. I have Verizon as the service provider. It did not work at all. When I contacted Verizon, they said I had to purchase another cell line to use ANY type of cell booster. Does this one work differently that I wouldn't have to pay for another line?
Luckily my reception is good but this is a very strong option yet a very expensive option. A landline likely be a cheaper item but over time and only having the cell usage still give their device a strong buy recommendation.
Question. I have an outdoor antennae that works good most times but I do get interference from time to time. I think its airplanes in the signal path. But two Spanish stations never get the interference even if I point the antennae in different directions. Why do these stations keep a good signal all the time? Thanks
The airplanes reflect the signal when they fly over and throw things off. You will need a larger antenna. Consider an antenna recommendation from me at the link below. This can prevent you from spending hundreds of dollars and time wasted on setting up the wrong antenna for your area. antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
I would like to find a way to boost the 5G signal in my home so I can do away with the completely. I currently use it for internet access. Do you think this would be strong enough to allow for that? I stream movies primarily. I get 5G signal now but only at one or two bars and that makes streaming sporadic.
As a retired engineer, I've monkeyed with lots of personal gadgets but not yet any cell phone boosters. I'm wondering if this booster would work in a car, using an omnidirectional antenna on the car's roof. I'm thinking of rural or mountainous regions with low signal levels. I know a car-top antenna works very well to improve GPS reception at 1.5 GHz and at UHF ham frequencies because I've done it routinely. Any deas?
I get who this is for. Before wifi calling and smart phones, I seriously could have used one of these despite that I live within a city. However now I own a nice smart phone and where I live my cell signal is 1 bar despite being on Verizon who has great coverage everywhere but my house. Thankfully wifi calling is my saving grace. I have a Eero mesh wifi system throughout my house. No dead spots on my entire property. I don't need no stinkin' cell tower when I'm home. 😁
I don't know whether a signal booster will help me or not. My phone occasionally drops a call, but much more often I can hear the caller, but suddenly they can't hear me. This happens in my house. My service seems worse outside! But it's hard to tell - the signal seems randomly better or worse. Do you think a signal booster would help with this weird problem?
Where I live inside my home I can usually get 4G lte and if the stars align I can get 5G. I would like to get 5G inside the house. I have been looking for something like this for a while now but the only thing I was finding was for 4G only or at least that's what they said. I think this would do the trick.
It would depend what band 5G operates on in your area. This signal booster doesn't work with the 600MHz low band 5G T-mobile uses but does work with other bands. There should be details on the product page but you'd have to be sure that your phone is connected to one of the supported bands.
@@AntennaMan thank you. I'm moving to a new house that is constructed of brick. The cell service I get inside of my home is very sketchy. Outside it's fine. Full 5 bars of 5G. What I'm hoping to do is, I have a Verizon home internet box. Which also uses cellular data. I want to have that connected to the booster and then use Wi-Fi calling from my phone. That will also help my internet signal for streaming and such. The other question I have is although the high boost looks like a really good unit. There are other ones out there for considerably less money. Is there really a difference?
Does that come with the warning telling you to notify your cell company you have installed this? You're transmitting on one of their frequencies. The FCC may come knocking at your door if you're causing interference.
I was thinking the same thing. I remember my old Nokia bag phone the later my first hand held cell phone had a jack on the back for an external antenna. that wold solve today's problems..
These definitely can work, but man are they expensive. I have very weak cell signal in my home (my house is just in a weird spot between towers) and I've found that WiFi Calling gets the job done.
@AntennaMan would you recommend this brand over weboost? Because I currently have a weboost and I'm really not happy with it and only 1.9 miles from the tower, it's not a significant change in signal strength
In the Philippines, this is illegal to use the Cellular Signal Booster. According to National Telecommunications Commission memorandum order # 01-02-2013.
Tyler, will a Cell booster help with a hot spot on my phone? I believe I’m being throttled from 3 pm to 10 pm each day. Everything is fine except for these hours. I have a unlimited plan for text and data. Live very rural also. Thank you.
If the speed on your hotspot is throttled due to a congested tower, this booster won't improve things. It will only improve speeds if the signal is weak.
It happens to me also. I Kno it sucks. Umm the booster does help but sometimes u can't help if the tower is crowded. For me it's just 3pm to maybe 8pm I say it's the damn kids n there video games
I have no problems in my house with the cell phone, so this device is just a waste of money for me. Interesting to know that there are such devices to boost cell signals.
Need one that doesn't require outside antenna. It's for my work office. i have no access to the outside world anywhere from my office and running a wire anywhere will be unnacceptable.
Not sure why this would be needed, at least if you have decent home internet service with wifi. I just use wifi on my phone when I'm in the house and use it for data as well as wifi calling.

Will this also transfer to having my cell phone be a More reliable source as a Hotspot? Asking for My non-cellular IPad mini. Thanks!
It’s a pos, don’t spend your money on this. Customer service is a joke
Are there any like under 50-60$ products?
Would this improve the fixed wireless home internet signal (such as TMOBILE )?
It depends what band it uses. To my understand, T-mobile uses the 600MHz band for 5G internet which is not supported by this signal booster.
I use one, I use a splitter and use two different indoor boosters in different areas in the house
will it work for wirless internet ....
We bought a new TV and are finding that we are getting more channels, would that be the reason? or is it just the weather? Thanks for your videos.
Both probably
Where I live inside my home I can usually get 4G lte and if the stars align I can get 5G. I would like to get 5G inside the house. I have been looking for something like this for a while now but the only thing I was finding was for 4G only or at least that's what they said. I think this would do the trick.
It would depend what band 5G operates on in your area. This signal booster doesn't work with the 600MHz low band 5G T-mobile uses but does work with other bands. There should be details on the product page but you'd have to be sure that your phone is connected to one of the supported bands.
Would this also help increase downloads with internet units like T-Mobile?
It depends what band T-mobile uses in your area for 5G internet and if the cell phone booster works with it.
Thank you sir for your service!!!!
Could you clear up what the WiFi antenna is for? (The small black antenna)
That's for your phone to communicate with the signal booster using the signal supervisor app. In my case, it didn't work.
@@AntennaMan Gotcha, thanks
Why not mention the price ?
Because prices vary greatly and change over time
What could I get to boost my signal from my house router connection to my garage about 150ft away?? Thanks
Just a normal wifi repeater. Netgear makes a good 1. Stay away from the tp link
Would this work for 800MHz Motorola radios?
I use the 4k version. It's friggin good
Does this just boost the phone connection, or does it also increase the data signal as well? I need one that does both.
It will increase the data signal as well. You can see in the video that the data speeds went up when I connected the signal booster.
I didn't notice anything like that. I would hope that the FCC would have better things to do like TV stations encrypting ATSC 3.0 broadcast signals.
I don’t think the FCC would care if the signal isn’t leaving your house. I would assume this has been approved by the FCC.
@@jeffreykoerber6595 the signal does leave your house.
I miss the days when cell phones actually had a physical connection for an external antenna to make these boosters actually useful.
I was thinking the same thing. I remember my old Nokia bag phone the later my first hand held cell phone had a jack on the back for an external antenna.
that wold solve today's problems..
Thanks

These definitely can work, but man are they expensive. I have very weak cell signal in my home (my house is just in a weird spot between towers) and I've found that WiFi Calling gets the job done.
It's only works in US?
Would this work for different phones within the house. Android and iPhone?
Yes it will work with any phone as it directly boosts the cell phone signal in your house that can be picked up by any phone.
Can you do one for truckers
Hi, do you think it will work with older 4G phone? I get a poor signal now.
Yes, it should!
Does it need WiFi to boost signal
Will it work WITHOUT a home wifi internet connection? I only have internet on my phone.
Yes
Great video
Wow he actually told us that hiboost is selling old glitchy boosters. Not sure I will buy that brand now!
How far was the cell tower you were tuned in to?
I was about two miles away but there's a mountain and forest full of trees between it.
What's the best indoor antenna.
You can find a list of recommended antennas below: www.amazon.com/shop/antennaman/list/2LH365VAPDKLC?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d
@@AntennaMan thank you for the reply and info.
Will this work if you don’t have Wi-Fi to connect to it?
I would advise against this device. It’s a pos and customer service is a joke.
Need one that doesn't require outside antenna. It's for my work office. i have no access to the outside world anywhere from my office and running a wire anywhere will be unnacceptable.
If you don't have any signal inside, then you need an antenna outside. And the two antennas need some separation / distance.
Must have item for Doomsday #preppers with underground habitat
👍 😎. 👍
Great video
Pretty impressive!
Does this work on 5g?
Not sure why this would be needed, at least if you have decent home internet service with wifi. I just use wifi on my phone when I'm in the house and use it for data as well as wifi calling.
10k amp for a home???
Is this for mansions only?
Some people live in big homes. HiBoost does sell cheaper signal boosters that will cover smaller homes.
I have Tracfone wireless
