Great video! Love the content. As a former cell booster installer, I would only recommend buying a cell booster if you need cell signal. This should not be bought for the sole purpose of increasing data speeds. The problems with cell boosters is, they lack the ability to use Carrier Aggregation. Even though they are boosting multiple signals, the cell booster cannot 'combine' the signals to get the best data speeds. Now if you have 1mbps, there is a chance this device will get help you 20mbps. (if the 1 signal being boosted has decent data speeds). But if you have 20mbps, don't expect 100.It just wont happen. All modern phones and 4G LTE modems support and use Carrier Aggregation. It is essential for good data speeds. The NetMonster app will show your Carrier Aggregation on your phone. Also, it may show 5G signal, but it wont be 5G speeds.
thanks for this (edit: I'm back to thinking I need to get an outside antenna, just wish Verizon and t-mo would make it easy to connect, or offer outside antenna as an option.). however, the app you mentioned is android only, along with the signal stream app mentioned in this vid, why so many apps not available on apple platform? These are free apps are they not? ...I don't do windows ;o) ...I have all apple devices, so I don't have access to these apps. are there any alternatives?
I got a few questions about all of it but I’ll keep it simple. I live far from the nearest tower about 18 miles out. I used to get 8 mbps but the cell signal just dropped, now 6 boosters later I’m only getting about 1mbps during the day and around midnight about 4 to 6mbps. When it’s cloudy it goes about 3mbps. I’ve tried all the different antennas changed so many places to put it. Changed to the thickest wiring. Is there anything else I can do? I just want to get it to at least 5mbps all the time. Answer if you can, thanks.
Nate, thanks for your testing this booster with verizon and T-mobile, cellular and Wifi. Provide us with a very comprehensive test. I live in a densely wooded area and seek for some solutions to improve my signal. You know sometimes upgrade my carrier monthly plan just doeesn't work. Cell towers don't move because I pay more. Booster is definitely a better solutions for me. Thanks for you honest test again. Keep up😁
I too live in a densely wooded area, but within a mile of the nearest cell phone tower. wondering if you ever purchased a booster and had any results you would care to share?

How close did the T-Mobile gateway need to be to the indoor antenna? I have 2 bars inside on the gateway, I've seen it pop 3 but rare, so I know outside off the roof is better. I have the hiboost 4k smart link and your same initial speeds before install and it is no better after install. LTE700 and AWS2100 are booth good-Super and the other two stay in the crap range. $460 into this so far and not happy...
Mine was probably 15 to 20ft away but coverage will depend how strong your signal is. Do not expect blazing speeds from a booster which has a single antenna and no MIMO capability. As shown it took me from effectively no connection to fast enough to stream a couple 4k videos at the same time.
@@NaterTater Thanks. I had good luck walking around outlet to outlet with the gateway to see where the signal improved. I went to the basement and literally held it right up to it and for the first time ever I saw all the bars lit up, but it was unstable, unusable. I guess too much interference bouncing around down there. I found that the bedroom above it with 3-4 bars was the best useable spot. So relieved that it improved things even if only slightly.
I have t mobile home internet and I live in a small metal trailer. Their service is ok outside the trailer but Horrible on the inside . What would you recommend
Too bad cell boosters can’t work along side the antenna connected to the Verizon box. I still find that some days connectivity is nonexistent with the antenna alone
@Nater Tater I appreciate your response. I had bought a 5G cell signal booster in hopes that it would help my version 5G but it didn't do anything, it did boost my mobile device but not the internet so I've been digging deeper into all this info. I do alot of traveling for work and sometimes end up in rural locations with little signal. So any suggestions you got, I'm all ears lol.
Depends what you are trying to do but if you get n71 and want to improve 5g home internet then i'd suggest a outdoor 4x4 MIMO antenna directly to the gateway.
@bigcountry4301 in that case a booster might be best. Even though it doesnt boost n71 it will help your 4g lte connection and your gateway will still connect to n71. Note the booster unit needs to be reasonable close to the gateway to work. For more indoor coverage look at the cel-fi booster i reviewed recently.
@NaterTater ok ty for information. My issue with the tmo is I get stuck on B12, all day yesterday it ran perfectly on b66/n71 but this morning like usual it's b12. It feels like my home has a barrier that flips on and off 😅 would upgrading from the Nokia befit me?
@bigcountry4301 for sure. The best way to avoid that is get a 3rd party 5g router that lets you band lock. You can force it on b66 or whatever you want. Chester Cheetah is the best bang for your buck there with my discount code.
Anyone know why my phone might be somehow throttling my 5g? My phone says I have 5g like that's what the signal in the corner says. My plan is 5g, and on coverage map I'm in the 5g area, yet I run a speed test and get 4mbps up and 200kbs down it's atrocious my 3g was faster almost 10 years ago..... My 4g plan I switched from was 10x faster and 1/4 of the price....
To bad they don't make a mimo booster so you can hook it upto waveform, but have seen splitters could some one split this into a mimo and get even better signal

@@NaterTater Hey Nate! Ran across your channel yesterday and have been watching all I can. I switched to T mobile yesterday from straight talk (Verizon) towers, along with the LTE lite Home internet. I'm trying to figure out what booster to go with, my android phone seems to bounce from B71 to B12 to B4, but B71 mostly. The home internet box seems to do ok, in the window, and for it I feel the best thing is the 4x4 antenna you show. My main question is, if I have a booster that boost the B12 will the cell phones automatically use that band over the B71 they seem to try to be staying connected too? Thanks again for all your helpful videos. Anthony
so, this is overkill for me and my tiny house. I think I need to go with an external antenna, but, 1) have to void warranty to connect, 2) cost. seems like they are all hundreds of dollars, seems like there should be a $50-$75 option, it's just an antenna, right? ...I just wish Verizon and t-mo would give us an external antenna connection so we can just add an external antenna, or even add an external antenna as an option. ...I have both Verizon & t-mo right now, why? Verizon: they are extremely slow at getting 5G outside of big cities, no 5G here, so, it works on 4G/LTE, but, useless during the day, too many people on the tower. T-Mobile: works great, WHEN it works. I've sometimes/often lost the internet connection even though it shows 3 bars of wireless signal connection, (time of day, how often it drops varies greatly...I work evenings and can come home to no internet late night and it won't fix until daytime, this is when I switch to Verizon). From one of your vids, I think it is because, being inside, it will pick up one of two different signals, I get 3-4 bars, but, t-mo doesn't seem to lock in to one signal and stay with it, it keeps switching between (I think it's n41/n71?), but, I don't get why it drops the internet, (speed test may show a connection but will spin and spin and eventually give up the speed test), maybe this would not be happening with an external antenna pointed at the closest/strongest signal tower. ...BUT, I would actually prefer Verizon if they could get their arses moving and get 5G here as I have my own router and wired connections and it works better in that regard. Plus, maybe the Verizon box would work fine without an external antenna, if they put 5G in the same location as the 4G/LTE signal I get now. ...I hate having two internet bills, but, no cable available here, so this is the best option outside of satellite, which is not so great an option.
...for some odd/unknown reason I lose the t-mo connection most often after work: late night/early AM, I try to power cycle the t-mo box, but, 9 times out of 10 it makes zero difference...so, I thought maybe someone is doing data mining or something to bog down the tower, but, I think it's more complicated than that, it screws up something because it keeps switching towers. I just don't get why when the signal is 3-4 bars...if it was down to 1-3 bars I would get it, but, I guess the algorithm for the unit makes it keep trying to get 4-5 bars of strength so it switches? IDK, all I know is, when t-mo finally made 5G home internet available here I was hoping to get rid of Verizon, but, it seems I may be keeping both until Verizon finally upgrades the tower and then drop t-mo. 😐
sorry to add even more, but, now I'm thinking, I could spend hundreds on some kind of external antenna, or I could spend hundreds over time on both services until Verizon upgrades and then I may be able to drop t-mo and not need an external antenna.
This is all terrifying. I need a booster because my 4g router is useless and no landline for broadband but I am a single woman and have no idea what to do!
It does not work on t mobile. T mobile uses n71 for 5g. It's illegal to boost 5g bands by t mobile. Any boosters does not work with t mobile. Call the company an ask. They will say it can boost only 4g t mobile bands
The FCC blocks 5G boosting for all carriers in the US. This boosts tmobile 4G LTE and that can also enable a better connection, including to tmobile 5G as I show in this video.
I do not feel this was a fair test. An antenna that high up could be the only reason for the improvement and not the booster. Maybe put the antenna a few feet away (think there is a minimum distance of 10FT and try again.

It's really the FCC that requires it and puts the burden on the ISP to track it. They want to prevent interference issues.
