My John Prine story was when I lived in New Orleans, Louisiana. Steve Goodman and John Prine were playing aboard the Riverboat President. My Father in law was in town for a visit from South Carolina. I wanted to do something special for his visit. 2 days before the show I went down to the riverfront to get tickets for the show but before I did I wanted to get something to eat. I had a place that I always loved the roast beef po' boys. It's a small outta the way place and always packed with people. I ordered and got my sandwich and was looking for a place to sit when a guy at a table for two said have a seat. I'm by myself. We struck up a conversation and he asked me what I was up to today ? I told him the story of my father in law being in WWII , KOREA , AND VIET NAM. and I was going to buy tickets for Steve and John tomorrow night. I was dumbfounded when he told me, DON'T BOTHER. I'M JOHN'S GUITAR TECH. WRITE YOUR NAMES DOWN AND I'LL SEE THAT YOU HAVE ALL ACCESS BACKSTAGE PASSES AFTER SHOW. Steve and John were on fire that nite. Steve an hour John an hour and both about an hour. After the show, backstage food and drinks. John and my father in law talked for a great while because they were both stationed at the same base in Germany. I miss him dearly . JOHN was gracious, humble ,and just the kind of guy you would love to have as a friend and mentor.
The only celebrity I've ever shed tears over was Mr. John Prime. The only reason I can think of is that he always felt like a close family member and truly my HERO! Thank you for this🥰😍🥰
I heard the name and some of his songs but I didn’t know him , a fella I was strumming with one day suggested I learn some John Prine songs ; well I got acquainted with his work and blew my mind how many songs I enjoyed he had written . Needless to say he became a great friend I never met but I felt like I knew him well , many of his songs are in my rep list and are always requested, broke my heart when he died but his spirit will always live on RIP in Paradise dear John .
I've never felt such a sense of personal loss as when John passed. Watching "I Remember Everything" left me sobbing in my living room, and I'm not a cryer.
Yeah, I finally got to see him in 2019i and he danced off to Lake Marie! He hesitated at the far left edge of the stage, spread his arms wide and stated, “ I’ve still got it!”
I was fortunate enough to see JP, with TS as opener, at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay around 2000. I'm unfortunate enough that I only have vague memories...I do remember that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Wow - we were at the same show! Traveled from La Crosse and even brought the kids. We had seem John a number times so that part was great. Todd was new tp us and we became fans, "B double E double R U N Beer Run!"
Thanks Todd! Lake Marie is just down the road near Twin Lakes Wisconsin. We live in Paradise Valley. Check out Burlington Bill. Hit me with some comments.

Yeah, great. Just keep that women-are-a-commodity concept alive and thriving
A Priceless Commodity but not everyone’s for everyone.
“Not everyone’s for everyone” sounds like a Song he’d
What’s it like living in a world without any sort of nuance?
Misogyny is Nuance all over the world ain't it
