Doeant remember or know or care whether it was the Grand Ol' Opry or the Hall of Fame. But he remembers that there were free carrots and celery and drinks. That's a beautiful soul right there.
In Italy we follow Todd a lot also thanks to a monthly musical of Gallarate/Varese, "Buscadero", which allowed us to get to know him as soon as his first formidable album "Songs for the Daily Planet" was released. Personally, I have his entire discography on CD and his disks are often in the drawer of my player or my computer. Some think that his most recent albums are not up to the first ones, but I think instead that work after work, his greater maturity combined with the suffering that I have read he has encountered in his life, make him an excellent artist. My days are marked exclusively by American folk/rock/countryrock with some Canadian additions, and Todd has had a place of honor in my daily listening for years. When I listen to it in the car, my mind flies very high and despite being on an Italian road, I have the impression of being around the States. Thanks for your music Todd and.....keep it up 😉
In some performances by Todd Snider I have seen on UA-cam, I get the impression, he performs his music, tells his stories because it absorbs him otherwise- he just wants to share it. But do you think he gets what a rare, incredibly talented guy he is? Does he know how nice it is not to see a cookie cutter copy of whatever is popular at any particular moment? He is a real person who sings about real things. Love him like I love John Prine and I LOVE John Prine.
He gets it but he doesn't get it at the same time. In the big scheme of things, there's only a few of us that get Todd. 50 years from now, he'll have way more recognition. Such is life.
Todd is one of my spiritual teachers. So many lyrics hold my beliefs - I want a heaven for everyone...also loved the lyric if worms had daggers birds wouldn't fuck with them. Hope we have many more years of your witty & deep lyrical genious!
I just want to thank Todd and whoever made this video because I needed a good laugh this morning. My cousin passed away Wednesday and I've been listening to music on UA-cam remembering him and I came across this. I needed a good laugh so thank you
@@cindycauthers6857 nope to what? I was referencing the Jerry Jeff and Mr. Bojangles story/clip as an example of "Todd Snider live is entertaining because of the stories that accompany the songs." You don't like the stories?
Great job . And I love your attitude. Life is easier without greed or jealousy. And u seem to not want the burden of either . Your creativity is much appreciated!
Here I was listening to Rhiannon G. and found this Gave him a complete listening to! Oh my, my he is such a relief from the happenings of the world. Thx, a new fan.
Aaron Lang That would have been amazing. There’s so much great live music in bars in Memphis. I live vex in Memphis from 2013-2016. My wife and I went to Todd at the Levitt Shell in 2015 or 2016. She didn’t like so we left. It still upsets me to think about that.
You were blessed to get here b/c music, esp this music it is very good for your heart, soul and mind, it puts a bit, of a pep in your step & that, I totally enjoy!
I would rank Todd right up there with the Gunthries on Story telling just when you thought he lost his place he comes right back to it in a comedian way thats a true talent not that many people can do especially when picking a guitar
Ive yet to hear him play, but so far the Mitch Hedberg of whatever music you call it; country ryhthm and bluesgrass yodeling southern rock genre name the kids call it these days. I'd show for his standup alone.
I came across this by accident and it made me so happy. I shared it with some friends and strangely enough one of them said they knew you or had met you or something... anyway they said this thing about you and it made me kind of sad. Then today I saw something recent and noticed the difference in just 7 years and thought man something is not well. Why is it that all the beautiful, genius and creative people have the worst experiences with getting by? I hope life eases up on you Mr. Snider. Sending you peace and love & thanks for your art. I hope your suffering heals.
Mrs. Peabody taught us "The Crawdad Song" right outta the gate in second grade, and we all had a good ol' time singin' it together there. "You gotta line, an' I gotta pole, honey..." Revisiting that little ditty now, with its universal theme of you got somethin' I need, an' I got somethin' you need, I'm thinkin' it's got nothin' to do with fishin' a'tall. Mrs. P. musta missed the parental advisory boat there, I guess.
I am glad I ended up here too! Did this man get credit for his B double E, double R, U N song..? I hope so... & if everybody asked permission/gave credit to who/ where they got their ideas from... Especially when earning money (& then of course share the earned money from it), what a nice world this'd be!
You had me at "I don't have to come into town for this do I , man?!"
“If worms had daggers birds wouldn’t fuck with ‘em” 🐛🔪🦜 That line killed me.
Amen
I've never heard of Todd Snider before, but I became a fan before I even heard him start playing.
Hope you can see him live someday, he is one of a kind!
@@StoryeTimegreed. I've worked security at one his shows and met him. He's not acting. He is what he is and super authentic. And he's excellent

The spirit of Arlo Guthrie moves through you. I love it!

He needs to be a comic as well as a song writer he's freaking hilarious
I got here cause I was listening to sad songs. I left with tears of laughter! Mission accomplished!

My favorite Todd Snider story and song to go with it. A perfect response.

That's exactly what I thought as I was listening !!! Arlo Guthrie all the way !!!!
There's a comment somewhere here that describes him as a cross between Arlo Guthrie and Mitch Hedberg. Spot on!
Ive yet to hear him play, but so far the Mitch Hedberg of whatever music you call it; country ryhthm and bluesgrass yodeling southern rock genre name the kids call it these days. I'd show for his standup alone.
