We used to ride around with John Prine drinking beer and smoking pot and we always had a damn good time. He'd tell us stories and sing us songs and point out places and things we'd never done or seen before. The jokes and humor was killer too once we got started we would laugh till we cried because it got to hurting after awile. Then we would just sit quiet awhile as the miles rolled by just looking out the window soaking it all in. The Missing Years was a great album but the one that came after that, Lost Dogs and Mixed Blessings blew me away. From the banks of old Lake Marie to the picture of him at the graveyard with that look and his smile, I know something you don't know. All I knew was the same thing happened to me. I love John Prine to me finding his music was like being out at sea and everything was dark, pitch black and then when all hope seemed lost this light appeared and a voice started singing pure and true. Songs that sounded like home and easy to sing along with. His concerts were like a family reunion vast and diverse bringing genuinely good down to earth people together from all walks of life. A lot of tears fell when he left us and still do even now. We're living in dangerous times at the moment and people are going to have to decide if they're going to live in a world of doom and gloom and be ruled by a Despot who won't ever let them be free or take the advice of our brother John Prine and just, Blow up your TV throw away your paper move to the country and build you a home. Plant a little garden eat a lot of peaches try and find Jesus on your own.... That works for me.
"We're living in dangerous times at the moment and people are going to have to decide if they're going to live in a world of doom and gloom and be ruled by a Despot who won't ever let them be free." AMEN, WE NEED TO GET BIDEN OUT. TRUMP 2024!
Every Prine interview I find now, every version of every song he wrote and sang, or were sung by others, just keeps boosting my respect and love and appreciation for the man. He’s all about sincerity and truth, and the lyrics he writes deliver it all in the most unique way. Simple, yet not simple at all, his songs hit home in the emotional heart, every time. Amazing. RIP John Prine.
Doug Love He was truly amazing. I’ve been pouring through his albums and lyrics obsessively for thirty-plus years and he never gets old. You can hear more twists and turns, and more sincerity and heart every single time you hear him. Will miss him always.
The most altruistic celebrity I’ve ever witnessed. Never ever read or heard a bad word about him. ( and I have read and heard an endless amount on John. Damn, I love this human being.
Love to see his interviews!! He's so loveable and genuine..he touches all of us.His music has lyrics that are meanigful and entertaining and will never get old.I plan on being REALLY good from now on ,so I can be sure to see JOHN PRINE when I arrive in heaven ! My twin Phil ,went up there in may 2020 & is saving my place !!!
Seems that during the stresses of this past eight months, my solace comes from listening to John's music and/or his being interviewed. His kindness comes through with every word, thought or song. Imagine if each of us would lend his kindness to our world, one human at a time. Thank you, John, for your unique ability to capture the kindness of life, the tough part of life with an enduring lesson and the love of each memory we experience along our life's journey. I will forever miss him; however, so very thankful for the breadth of work he has left for us all.
My goodness..so bittersweet to see this interview today, just one week after losing the great John Prine..genius of song and wit. So loved & enjoyed your stories and music. Thank you❤️
Dan Miller is the host here doing his interview show Miller and Company. It aired in Nashville on WSMV every Sunday night after the late news. Dan was also the anchor on the evening news there. On his show he had many great songwriters and artists being in Nashville. This interview with John is a treasure.
I discovered John far, far too late in my life...and his. I've been listening to little else since then. I'm not even a fan of country music, but I certainly know and appreciate a talented songwriter. Shame I'll never get the opportunity to watch John perform live. Thanks to John Prine, I've bought a new accoustic and trying to write songs again. Greetings from Scotland 🏴👍
From 8 year olds to 88 , John’s music resonates ! What an awesome human being . Only saw him live twice, my mistake . Indoors at the Walker in Minneapolis, fantastic ! About 200 people, and it was like a private party . Once outdoors, equaling enjoyable, with a crowd of thousands.
Along with his good friend Stevie Goodman, Prine was a pioneer in starting his own record label. Long before the days of digital, Spotify, and UA-cam. Now everybody and his brother records their own music whether people listen or not. But people will listen to Prine's music long past this day.
Found many years ago when needed some inspiration in looking at life, John put spin on life. Basically given insight on what takes to communicate with different folks life. He touched many and will Heaven Heaven. Thanks for all the great music.
John said it; three cords and the truth. How about three cords and the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The inner most truth. Love you John
What a great invention, a device that allows a person to enjoy watching videos, videos of John Prine, or anybody that you can imagine...just let that sink in for a minute..Thanks Science!
I think the ultimate experience would have been sitting around the kitchen table drinking beer with John Prine. What a superior talent. I can listen to him talk and sing all day.
You can’t take a shower in a parakeet cage.I miss both of these wordsmiths!Back in the early 70s my friend would play the piano and I would play harmonica in the bar at closing time.John Prine songs took us to a lot of ladies bedrooms in the wee hours I’m gonna smoke a cigarette that’s 9 miles long.☮️
A fan since Mr Prine started . I caught his show in Albuquerque New Mexico 2018. It was great, a lot of love for John Prine in that show, my wife had never seen him before. She really enjoyed it.
I have listened to many of Johns tunes over the years and was quite saddened on hearing of his passing. Never heard him interviewed it brought me to tears. He will be truly missed. My heart goes out to his wife and family.

So true about all fans feeling validated when their favourite artists win an award. At least that’s how it should be. Oftentimes fans will react badly, feeling that their personal secret is out. I’ve felt like that in the past, til I realised that I was essentially wishing that my favourite artists did not get the recognition I thought they deserved. Vale John Prine.
Just dwell on the Legend he left for his humorous songwriting and singing. His music will definitely give folks that "Feeling real GooD"..kinda feeling.. No doubt his Music will Live on!💞💯
John is a great writer and performer, and has a great point of view and a great sense of humor. . And listening to this interview I am thinking…... I would sure like to sit down and drink a couple of six packs with this guy.
Oh what I would do just to have a friend like John Prine. Just to know someone like John. But, obviously, there is only one John Prine. Saw him up here in Ontario around Hallowe'en and he was outstanding.
Well, you could be the next John Prine. Just take the best parts of him, and leave the rest, like him being dead. Not a had guy to emulate. I suppose we all miss him, even those who never knew him.

There are two stars in this video. Dan Miller was a true star and family member to everyone here in Middle TN. He had to leave us way to early.
Sure wish he was still young and still with us.
