    Capt. Scott, thank you for an excellent video. BTW, I am pleased that you referred to the Colt cartridge as the ".45 Colt." So many people who know squat about firearms and cartridges will call it the ".45 LONG Colt." Anyhow, when you mentioned Colt chambered their revolver for the cartridge, Winchester referred to it as the .44 WCF, but Colt would not give credit to Winchester, so they called the cartridge the ".44-40." I have three '73s, all in different calibers. One of my collector friends has an original '73 in .357 Mag. Yes, that is correct. Back in the '30s, soon after the .357 was developed, Winchester would convert a .32WCF into .357. Anyhow, thanks for the video.

      James you are welcome pard, didn’t know that about the .357 I never came across that in my reading but it doesn’t mean it did not happen. Glad you enjoyed the vid I hope to see you in the future

    I love the ‘73. I have a Miroku Winchester 1873 saddle ring carbine and the only bad thing I can say about it is it’s not made in the states. It’s excellent quality though. I’ve fired wad cutters one at a time (they’re to short to feed through the magtube) to Underwood’s crazy gold dot barn burning 357mag in 125gr-158gr. Worth every penny.

      Well they are excellent guns it is certainly my favorite of the competition guns that I use. smooth as glass, parts seem alittle stronger compared to the uberti, and the finish on mine is deep and rich. No complaints here I shall be doing a review on this rifle some time in the future.

      I have the short rifle in .44-40. Great rifle, but if I had it to do over again, I would have picked .357 Magnum. Factory ammunition in .44-40 is impossible to find where I live right now. The .357 Mag ammunition is a lot easier to find.

    At 5.26 it says winchester tests its rifles and if they did not make the cut to be one in a thousand or a hundred then they gave you the feeling that other rifles were inferior and not accurate. That is crazy.

    • @SlickSixguns
      @SlickSixguns  2 роки тому +1

      That was the biggest back fire of there marketing, hence they discontinued that idea. nonetheless over 720,000 were sold until 1920.

    Got 2 of the Colt .45 revolvers now gotta save my pennies nickles dimes and quarters for awhile to get my Winchester 1873 made by Miroku of Japan who has been in the gun manufacturing biz for perhaps 100's of years is what I hear !!!!

    • @SlickSixguns
      @SlickSixguns  4 роки тому

      I did not do a whole lot of research on miroku but perhaps that would make a great video all its own. The colt 45s that you have are they actual colts or replicas? What generations do you have? I like the bullseye ejector look personally. I did own a second generation but unfortunately got rid of it.

    This is at least the third end date for sale I have heard, with dates ranging from 1918 to 1924. Wonder which one is correct?

    • @SlickSixguns
      @SlickSixguns  Рік тому +2

      I’m going to say mine just because I link sources to where I got my information and I also do comparative research to ensure writers are on the same page

    VOLCANIC REPEATING RIFLE!... Not whatever the heck you called it!... Volition??... Hahaha!

    • @SlickSixguns
      @SlickSixguns  20 днів тому

      The volition repeater and hunt jennings came before the volcanic, meaning repeat fire power and lever operated guns have used the same principle. If it weren’t for them the volcanic wouldn’t exist or the 1873

      @@SlickSixguns I know what that is but you were discussing the origins of the Henry Repeater and Winchester....

    • @SlickSixguns
      @SlickSixguns  20 днів тому +1

      Yes and both can be be credited with there origins starting there
