So ive been curious. i have a chad criss manifold and ran 1/2 lines . but have been told since its a manifold that im wasting air by using 1/2 inch lines , that i should go to 3/8 and wont notice a difference in speed . is this true ?
Havent ran a water trap in 7 years of running air ride, havent noticed any damage and this is during heavy winters as well as hot summers.. maybe I should install one..
If I’m planning on putting 2 extra water traps between my duel compressors and tank, I’m guessing my smc check valve from the compressor should screw into one side of the water trap but for the other side is there a fitting that can directly connect the water trap to the tank. or do I need to run a ptc fitting after the trap with a short airline into another ptc fitting that is connected to the tank.
We recommend just running the water traps between the tank and manifold. But the fitting you are looking for is called a Parker Hex Nipple. You can find it here www.bagriders.com/parker-hex-nipple.html
I am frequently asked: why not put the trap between compressor and tank to trap water as „early“ as possible? As correctly described here the water condensates out of the hot air while cooling down. And that happens mostly in you tank where the air sits for a while and not in the short line between the compressor and tank. You‘re welcome.
That is a great point Balthasar! It is a common misconception that a water trap between the compressor and the tank is the best place to put it! Always best to capture as much water as possible before it can go into your bags, and that leaves between the tank and the manifold as the best spot to do so.
Do you still need to drain the big air tank if you have water trap ? If so : Before draining the tank i need to let air out ? Is my first time when i use something like this
Yes you will still want to drain the tank if you have a water trap. When letting air out of the tank you can drain the water at the same time by using the port located at it lowest point where water collects. If you tank doesn't have a tank drain kit already let us know and we can show you where to get one.
@@bagriders Hello and thanks, next problem: Why my presets never stay the same ? Even when i click it to set my presets will not reach what i preseted. Also Airtank is losing PSI when i drive or over the night when car is parked , when i go to start the car my PSI is low, is this normal?
@@bogdan.r.sHey, we need a little more info! By how many PSI are your pressure based presets fluctuating? What control system are you using? No you tank should not be losing any pressure over night. We will release a video in the next couple of months with some pointers. But the most popular method is soapy water in a spray bottle, you spray potential leak points, and watch carefully for bubbles that grow!
Does the trap need to be mounted to the tank? Or can I mount the trap in the spare tire area so it’s hidden as long as it’s between the tank and manifold?
is my car going to blow up bc my water trap is sideways…… but in all seriousness, it’s sideways but i’m able to lift up and when i press it to release air water doesn’t come out, i never knew you had to check it for water so i never did and there’s no water..? it’s been like 5 months
AVS chrome water trap he has are horrible. I have 2 in my setup because 1 out of 2 of the watertrap I got has a leak in it so bought another one. Then notice now they are both leaking from the center... can fix with Teflon tape or tread sealer but it shouldn't need to as it was design for u not to use that stuff anyways
Before yesterday i had no idea one of these were installed with my air suspension. Was able to easily locate and work the purging out. Thanks a bunch!
Great to hear!
I was in the same boat. I drained my water trap and water was released, I was extremely happy afterwards.
My water trap doesnt have an indication of whats inlet or outlet. It only has the letter P on one side. Any ideas?

Looking for a 1/8 npt port water trap... Do you have any anything available in that size because I only see 1/4 npt and 3/8 npt.

Could a faulty water trap cause pressure to not build up for my air tank?
That could be a possibility. Best way to check is by spraying the water trap down with soapy water.
Hello ,I need the fitting for water trap because one is loosing air
Give us a call 844-404-7344 or email sales@bagriders.com so we can make sure you get the right fitting.
Hi, do I need to use a drain as well as a water trap on a tank? Or can I just use the trap?
Great question! It's best practice to drain both the water trap and the tank.
@@bagriders Perfect, thank you!
If I go from a 3/8 line to a 1/8 water trap and then back to 3/8 to the valve body is that going to slow the air down
Yes that would slightly slow down air speed
on the AVS traps. mine didnt have any arrows showing inlet/ outlet. how can i tell which way it goes?
Hmm. Give us a call and we can help!
If I run dual compressors...do I need two water traps
The short answer is no because we recommend that the water trap goes between the tank and manifold.
Does the trap need to be mounted to the tank? Or can I mount the trap in the spare tire area so it’s hidden as long as it’s between the tank and manifold?
No it doesn't. Just make sure the water trap is vertical!
My air management is 1/4 airline. If I use a 1/8 NPT water trap. What would that do to my management? Or will it affect it
It will slow down the system ever so slightly, but not enough to really notice!
do yoy have bags that fits my ford thunderbird 1976
We do not, sorry!
How to connect water trap if you have 2 tank setup?
If you have two tanks you'll want to place the water trap between the tank and manifold.
@@bagriderswhat if they’re both Air Lift Flo tanks?
@@Fleshnbloodrobot Even with the Flo Tanks you'll want the water trap between the tank and manifold.
I would like a heated water trap it nice that it traps water but not when you can't drain it cause it freezes
We recommend adding air brake antifeeze to your system during freezing temperatures.

i do drain my tank and there usually is water in their daily
Great question! You want to mount your water trap vertically for it to work properly. If it's sideways it won't be able to collect moisture.
