I think these guys did a great cover of Randy Travis' song especially with Tim taking the lead. What I love about Home Free is how respectful they are of the original song without adding unnecessary things. No theatrics or bass drops. Just beautiful singing & harmonies with Adam adding his special touch. I thought it was cute when Tim sung about hair turning grey & he looked up at his own hair.

That last Tim slide is so true to Randy Travis' performance. The whole song is true to Randy's while letting the BVs show their flare.
They have rules they are sticking with: If there is just one person singing lead it will be the one with the voice most fitting for the song.
Is you listen to the original Randy Travis version you hear why they went with Tim for this
Adam Chance would have been an awesome choice as well.

Tim's is one of the few voices that can do this song justice. For anybody who has not heard Randy Travis sing this song (I think it may have been the original) do yourself a favor and check it out.

Home Free explained at a live interview and performance at Paste Magazine that they usually all record themselves solo when choosing new music. They then decide which voice or voices work best on the lead vocals. After deciding who is leading, Adam Rupp goes to work on the percussion.

Watched that on the Paste YT channel. One of the songs they performed live was Catch Me if You Can. Rob recorded his take first on that one and the other guys heard it and decided immediately that it would be a Rob song!
Chance's bass guitar or bass fiddle contribution is just stellar, Adam's percussion section impeccable while Austin and Robb fill the rest is wonderful!!! awesome that they are such a team, not professional jealousy.
I think one of the things that adds to the message of this song is that Tim never sings very low. He could have easily done so on any of those slides, but he keeps his voice focused on what's best for the song.
I just looked back......Has Jennifer not reacted to Home Free's cover of "Brothers in Arms"?! If not we need this reaction.
Tim is the obvious choice hear. Randy is a bari-tenor. I sang this song once just having fun at a karaoke years ago and it almost 'scraped' me off at the bottom. Randy's voice is deceptively low when he tales down at the end of a lyric line. Caught me of guard that night!

Miss Jenn tomorrow is my birthday - June 23rd !!! :) This is an ICONIC song from Randy Travis....came out in 1987 and in 1988 he collected a GRAMMY for Country Song of the Year, also in 1988 he received a Country Music Association award for Forever, and also in 1988 a Academy of Country Music Song of the Year award.....Randy has had some bad luck as of recently....Randy had a major stroke that took out his ability to walk unassisted and also took his vocal abilities away too. I used to dance the Texas Two-step with my wife to this song before she passed away in 1991

Well Jen, you are now definitely a home fry through and through like we are. Great cover and remember to keep the original artist Randy Travis and his family in prayers as he is not in good shape. Loved the more simple cover and you mentioned the chord and note bend at the end. That’s not the 1st time Austin has delivered that sound and closely imitate a steel guitars note bending. He does that in one of the Christmas songs. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!

Awww such a sweet song. I loved Tim glancing up at his gray hair. Yeah we all get there eventually…. : ( Love your analysis as always and yeah Tim is so cute. Adam really was great with the beatboxing. And Chance was great with the bass.
