It's a shame for such an incredible band which actually belong into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame with so many great songs and such a band history like theirs.
I have all their albums up to "Crazy World" and I love all of them , every single song.

Haha... I went to Germany 2 years ago and met some heavy metal fans. I couldn’t stop talking about Scorpions (one of my favorite bands) when someone said: “hey, they’re not that famous here. They”re probably more famous in Brazil than they are here actually”.That hit me hard. 😯

Many fans don´t even know that Scorpions is one of the pioneering bands of Heavy metal...this song is proof of that along with "Sails of Charon", "The zoo", "Lovedrive" and many other songs from their non-commercial Era.

The Scorpions were one of the officially banned bands in the USSR. But at the same time, their ballads sounded at all school discos. I became a Scorpions fan in 1980 and still am today.

Uli’s great, but was very retro. Mathias is why they hit another level. Magical melody.
He truly does, I’ve seen live footage, it’s a joy to see. Of course, he can make it look as easy as he likes here, because playback. Reportedly, he wasn’t a big fan of this song, and was initially reluctant to play on it in the studio. No dramatic knee-drop for his guitar solo in this video 😉

I have loved this band since first hearing Fly To The Rainbow. They are true innovators to the rock/metal canon. Always very good but excellent the whole time Ulrich Jon Roth held the guitar mantle in the band. To these ears anyway. No disrespect to Mattias Jabs very good although not setting any trends. Cranking it out with some very memorable runs. Early Scorpions music meant so much to this genre and the progress of the electric guitar.
I’d put Uli up there with EVH and Hendrix. He was an innovator of the instrument. Listening to some of his ‘newer’ stuff is amazing. Have been a Scorps fan since the 70’s!!!

@@daveg4236 Not to shit on Matthias but he cannot touch many of Uli's solos. If you dig deep enough you can find audio clips from 79 when they were on their first tour with Matthias and they played several of the 70s era songs and Matthias butchered the solos.

They are known mostly for ballads, but they play super heavy in their concerts. I went to a Scorpions concert in Lisbon and, boy, did they rock the house down!

@@picassoboy52 All of their radio hits were mostly ballads (at least here in Portugal) Wind of Change, Still Loving You, Send Me an Angel, those were all ballads that even people not into hard rock enjoyed. I didn't say that was ALL they made, but their soft stuff was always much more popular than their hard stuff.

These guys always rocked! I can't believe these guys started a couple of years after the Rolling Stones did but it makes sense breaking thru all of the barriers especially in Germany! These guys def need to be in the Hall of Fame man. No doubt about it! Lots of these 1970s where not played so it's good to see these!

The huge difference between Michael and Uli is that Michael is an original, he had his own signature style and tone since a very young age, Uli is a pioneer of neoclassical rock but his devotion to Hendrix has always been way too much, in most of his guitar playing I hear first Jimi than Uli...

I loved everything about them, when i saw them warm up for aerosmith in 1979, mattias was on guitar but they only played this era of songs, mattias was not writing with them yet, pictured life sounded amazing, Klaus had a fiberglass tamberine, he would throw it high in the air, it would hit the ground, bouce and he would catch it, then hit the crowds outstretched hands with it, a wildman of a showman

Yes, I was blown away when I discovered how heavy and cool they used to be before all the ballad stuff.
70's Scorpions with Uli Jon Roth,on guitar,were pretty heavy,neoclassical and even psychedelic rock. Uli left and they became more commercial in the 80's,but still made some heavy stuff,like ''Blackout''.Then,they got a massive hit with ''Winds of Change'',in the beginning of the 90's and Meine/Schenker turned the band into the german version of Def Leppard or Bon Jovi.
Check out their In Trance and Virgin Killer albums, those show that Scorpions were already on the top of the world along with Judas Priest and Black Sabbath in early heavy metal.

Scorpions is NOT NECESSARILY heavy metal but they created something the would later become heavy metal. The opening riff of "he's a woman" is clearly a metal riff. They have songs that can be described as metal like "Sails Of Charon" and "Can't Live Without You". They influenced alot of heavy metal bands, especially in the "power metal" subgenre. If you know heavy metal, you would know how the scorpions is a "HONORARY METAL BAND".

we once advertised for a ride from Dunedin to christchurch (new zealand), this was early 90s. They were two German guys and all they listened to was Scorpions the whole trip, but it wasn't the wind of change tripe

Matthias was a good guitarist, don't get me wrong. He fit perfectly into The Scorps '80's style of power ballads & political songs, however, he wouldn't have done much on songs like "Polar Nights" or "Backstage Queen", which were more important in defining the role of a hard rock lead guitarist...

I think animal magnetism was the pinnacle album , for me Rudolf schenker is one of the great metal guitarist . Can't believe I spelt his name wrong , but while I'm at it I've seen the scorpions four times once was supporting Judas priest at Hammersmith they were always to good to be a support band and went down just as well as priest , Glenn Tipton another one of the great metal guitarists

I love the Scorpions.
Uli Jon Roth's dressed "a la Hendrix", though a guitar virtuoso, always cool and collected, never outrageous nor cocky, not that those last ones are bad.
Scorpions at their best moment and alongside Judas Priest, the only 2 bands doing everything possible to keep metal alive and healthy. We owe them so much for all the bands that came out in the next 30 years.
Uli is a huge Hendrix fan , he also dated Jimi's last girlfriend Monika Dannemann and lived with her for 17 Years
