Yes that’s right - and thank you! I would try to do places that are made-to-order but still had a drive through window. Not a perfect system but going to chick fil a, Culver’s (made to order cheeseburgers) and chipotle are helped the transition. Hoping to cut out more Jan 1st!

Then you'll have different looks but only the one dress in your closet.
I did that one year, and I loved it. I knew the dress looked good and I would dress it up with jewels and heels or dress it down with a scarf/cardigan and sandals. I bought another black dress to have 2 different styles.
Love this! One thing I won’t be buying anymore of this year is home decor. I don’t need any and I am moving soon so I want to be able to pack light, and adjust to the new space accordingly when we get settled in.

I am going to try to do it the other way around. Look at what I will buy next year. This way you have a positive spin and still get dopamine when you look forward to purchases. I also try to add something I really love on my weekly grocery list. This influences me in my daily life and the result is not to want to go and spend money on things I did not deside on. I just started my journey on minimalism and am very busy decluttering my house, but I already keep a register of everything I spend my money on for years. So I decided to do a complete no buy for a month and if it works out I might continue it. There is one thing that is very difficult for me and that is hobbies. I just love all these materials, but I will not buy anything for my hobbies this year. There is already so much in my house that it should lest me for more than a year 😅.
I think now that we have this high inflation it would benefit us all (and the environment) to be careful about buying unnecessary things and really use up what we have.
Love and appreciate your videos and channel. I love reading, and I have my adjustment to a Kindle … love it, and it has allowed me the opportunity to share my read books that were collecting dust with local libraries and friends.
Thank you for posting this seriously started helping me realize I have spend so much money on and I have wrote the list in my new calendar and wrote the list on each month just to remind myself
One thing to consider on not buying clothing pieces that don't fit, is you can always have them altered a bit for a perfect fit. I'm not talking about major changes, but I often have to have pants hemmed and a dart or two put in around the waist as I'm bottom heavy. I'm also smaller on top than around my stomach, so I'm rarely going to find a "perfect" fit off the rack. Find yourself a good seamstress. The money you spend to make your favorite items fit, will be cheaper than buying several items that you don't love.
I definitely want to be more mindful of the toys and books we get for my kiddos. We’re hoping to be moving and I know it will be so much easier and better if I work on this❤️
I love wooden jigsaw puzzles which are expensive. I was gifted my first one. When done I sold it on ebay then bought another fom that site. This I have continued to do. And always have a puzzle on hand.
Thanks for the video and encouragement. So good to have a not buying list. I just put my list together also and I am filming my video on this same subject soon. I am cutting out fast food, home decor, scarves, planners, unnecessary clothes and also cutting out all cleaning supplies and home products with toxins.
Over the years after accumulating several dressy clothing items and after decluttering, I kept the few that fit really well and wear only those for special occasions including baptisms, weddings and showers!
Use up everything. No spend January and February. No balance on credit cards, pay no interest. Food shop sales. Menu plan by sale items. Cook from scratch. Make your own coffee. Declutter. No One Click Amazon shopping! 🤑😁👍 Merry Christmas 🎄
I do the no one click buy at Amazon. I put everything on my cart. Just like groceries I look at the items and see if I really need it of its an impulsive buy. I usually take some items of my cart always.
We have a puzzle exchange in a neighboring town and a new one at a close library. Then I keep my eye out for puzzles at our thrift store. I did splurge on puzzles during Black Friday this year. The past couple of years I've made myself wishlists all year long then took advantage of BF sales to get discounts (on anything, not just puzzles) Last year I resolved not to buy any new skin care items, make up, lotion, face wash, etc. until I used up most of my other ones. I did pretty well on this, although I found out that scented hand creams were causing eczema on my hands so I did have to buy some lotions that I could use.
These are great ideas, I’m inspired! I want to decrease my monthly “want” purchases too about twice a month and focus on what is needed. My spending has been excessive in this space. I like to fast food idea, mine will focus on special occasions, if there is one I can give myself that grace to enjoy. I’ll have to think of more 😊
I relate to your list! Most likely I will copy your list. I felt like you were looking at my freezer & kitchen staples. Although I learned to pressure can this year and I've been going through my beans. I'm saving a lot of time cooking. Happy new year!
I'm not buying candles right now either because I have a whole big box full. But since it's almost Christmas I've actually put some of my excess new candles into gift bags for friends and family. 😁 I kept my favorites and will use them before buying new ones.
Plants are at the top of my list too. I have about 20 in my bedroom only, sooo it's safe to say I don't need any more haha. 🙈 Merry Christmas, Ashlynne! 🤍
As far as paying for youtube, I have avoided that by getting a youtube ad blocker which is a MAJOR game changer. And just a general ad blocker for chrome internet browsing really simplifies the time spent on the computer. I highly recommend it! Obviously it doesn't cross over to the phone but at least for laptops/desktops it's wonderful :)
Thanks for the inspiration! I will not buy the following this year: plants, shoes, candles (first use up what I still have), technology - no mobile phone, no headphones, but one exception: a new e-reader that is compatible with the libraries' online offerings, which also saves money in the long term.
My list for 2022 was short: pajamas, shoes, seasonal decor, candles, and blankets. I think the only thing I was 100% successful with was pajamas. I keep the others to a minimum, though. Pretty proud of myself! Now for 2023’s list…
I’m not buying any more skincare or make up as I have so much that I need to get through. I’m also not buying any more Jewellery as I would like to get more enjoyment from the pieces I have
I have a coffee cup with a lid and then a regular coffee cup..I have not felt the need for more..less dishes makes me not put off dishes .dishes can't sit in my sink for more then a day or I'm out of dishes to eat on
I LOVE your videos! Happy Holiday! Puzzles are so relaxing to me. I always working on one and when I am done with one I love to hand them off and people surprise me with new ones to do. Thankfully, I don't have an excessive amount.
I need to not buy anymore eyeshadow palettes! I have way too many, I need to use up the ones I have all the way then I can purchase more later, I'm with you on the candles. I do get ride of a lot at one time but them end up replacing them as soon I get rid of them 😂. I need to be better at clothes too so I'll just work with what I have and if I can part with something I will
I joined UA-cam premium for the music service years ago because you can download music to listen to offline (like on planes). But I love having no ads too!
I am on a fixed income. If it isn't free, cheap, a coupon, etc, I don't buy it. I live minimally also. I've been going the crafting stuff and passing it along to teens at church who love to craft. I've been using up my yarn stash since 2020. People tend to give me yarn when they clean out their stashes or find on clearance. I'm down to one basketful now. I only buy what I need if someone asks me to make something.
I have also planned things I will not buy. 1. Bags. 2.Home decor items for my home. 3.impulsive buying of make up items.I have regretted buying things, I have never used.I not a make up person but many times I have bought highlighter , primer concealers which I have never used
New sub😊 2022 I did really well with not buying lotions & shower gels I’ve plenty so carrying over to 2023 no buy. Fast food is going in 2023. Shoes is another one to go I’ve plenty. I’m really excited for the upcoming yr
Hi Ashlynne good morning happy vlogmas day and happy December and happy winter season and this was amazing video I enjoy your channel because you are amazing Supporter
I always buy BBW products for my friends and family on their sale after Christmas for the following Christmas to save money. This is something that I'm going to stop doing. I'm also going to cut back on spending money on family for birthdays in 2023.
I'm going to try my hardest to use less plastic. The last year has been an eye-opener at just how much plastic I've been recycling. It's everywhere!! But I've been finding so many awesome alternatives that I feel sooo happy!! Sorry Amazon but you're out 😬 lol
I have restricted myself from buying new skincare products , special occasion clothes , clothes that don't fit me and kitchen tools , not a new year resolution or something but these are the things i have already been restricting myself from buying .
I just swaped one bottle halfway through it with my mum. I was a bit bored with the smell and didnt want to buy a new one yet 😊 I took one of hers that i wanted to try
living a pretty frugal life, i had a bit of a problem with this one; i guess the bad things i don't need to buy is the chocolate crossants from our local shop, magazines and bags when i go shopping; when i have a cupboard ful at home; great video thoughx
For the last one, just go to your local library to borrow the puzzles! Your local library might have an amazing collection! Like you I'm trying to save money and space so I decided to check out more books instead of purchasing. Thanks for sharing your list!
While it's always good to reflect and work on any spending habits that may need more improvement, one thing that I want to spend more time working on without the extra cost is my mindset. Perhaps this'll be easier once the holidays are over and people are less stressed or agitated, but I'm finding myself getting way too worked up over things that are unproductive or unnecessary. It's making it hard for me to be a more positive person and to maintain healthier relationship dynamics....
puzzles are my weakness too, i purchase them at my local used bookstore, they are 3 for $2. super hard to resist. I am embarrassed to say I have a stock pile of almost 100, enough for a lifetime. Lotions and soaps are also on my do not buy list this year, until I use up what i have ( which sadly could be 2025)
Ever since I quit working in fast food, I've almost entirely cut it from my diet, along with the kids' diet (at least on our custody time. Other parent is shit but lol can't fix that. The goal this year is to maintain the momentum of home cooked meals and cutting food and grocery costs, focus on spending money on experiences VS gifts, and to pay off the majority of our debt. Less specific than a "no spending money on X" but I find with my ADHD and my wife's autism, that a more general plan works best for us to be able to work towards a shared goal in whatever ways work best for us individually. I'm far more minimalism and essentialist than her though.
I love a great deal, with food and clothing. My goal this year is not to over buy and have an over stock. I want to buy what I will need and use in the moment ant not for the future. I really struggle with passing by 50% off or more deals. I feel the digital universe knows this about me and there is temptation around every corner!
I'm really big into makeup, and I've decided to not purchase any more unless it's too replace something I've used up. I have multiples of each category, it's just way to excessive. I'm gonna try with only having fast food once a month as well. The last few months I've been saving money because I had surgery and won't be able to work for a month, so I cut out fast food. It's saved so much money. I didn't realize how much we do it.
I just recently came across a puzzle subscription where you can rent puzzles and then send them back. I don't recall the name but I'm sure a Google search would help. Just an idea.
My not buys are also related to my diet goals. I won't be buying diet soda for my home or nuts & nut butters. On non-foods, I won't be buying purses or shoes.
I recently heard there are places you can rent puzzles. One company, which unfortunately I don't remember the name of, is a subscription where you can get as many puzzles a month as you want.
in 2023 my no buy items are 1. clothes 2. shoes/sandals 3. bags 4. make-up 5. skincare items 6. stationary items promise to use up and enjoy everything i have
For me I don't want to buy extras I want to be more minimal than I already am so I want to use/read what I already have and when time comes I want to buy second hand books or go to the library 😌
I'm ambitious, for me is the no buy year. I'm even cancelling subscriptions. 2021 and 2022 were the years do buy all the stuff I wanted, mostly craft related.
Happy Holidays! This is such an awesome idea and one that I've done for some years now. Many items on your List match a few on my own List, which have been on my List every year for 3 years now. You mentioned 1). Candles and I agree, but only for the larger candles. I am a prolific user of aromatherapy oils and buy tealight sized candles for my oil burners. With a box of 100 averaging around $13.00 USD, I don't mind the expense. I've been lucky enough to find 100 count boxes on sale for around $3.00; so I absolutely stocked up on those 😁. 2. Special Occasion Clothing. I couldn't agree more, but this is primarily due to my lifestyle 😕. I'm a good deal older than you and have amassed a War Chest of Special Occasion Clothing. I took a page out of Jane Fonda's Mantra when she announced back in 2020 that she was not buying anymore evening wear to attend the various events someone in her line of business needs to regularly attend. I likewise have hundreds of evening attire that are classic, timeless pieces; so why not just REWEAR something that I already own. 3. Plants. I agree, but I haven't bought living plants in many years due to my international life. Having to find ways to manage their needs was just another level of responsibility that I could shave off my TO-DO List. 4. Shoes (I agree) 5. Clothing That Doesn't Fit (I agree) 6. Excess Freezer Food. I agree, but only those items that I don't use regularly. I do stock up on butter and other items that my family uses regularly and I like knowing that we have extra available. 7. Ceramic Mugs. I agree, but I also include any tableware. We literally have hundreds of mugs, plates, cups, saucers, and utensils from 30 years of acquiring. 8. Fast Food (I agree) 9. Art Supplies. I agree since it fits something specific you know needs curtailing; but for me, it would be Home Decor. 10. Puzzles: Again, this is your "nemesis" 🤣 and I totally understand you. I would insert incense and diffuser oils here as I literally have boxes containing hundreds of various incense and diffuser fragrances that I need to use up OR AT LEAST use down before purchasing any additional items.
I'm looking to cut out fast food in favour of small family restaurants. I had Thai last night from a family-run restaurant and the quality was better than Thai Express and it was less expensive. Everyone wins!
I am not going to be going to the outlet stores to source things for my online clothing sales. I have a lot that didn't sell and I have piles of clothes that aren't even my size because of it.
No buys for me in 2023: books, jewelry (REALLY need to work on this one), and lastly low-buy on clothes. I want to be more consistent with some of my habits and work on those instead of shopping on tougher days.
A note about costume jewelry-I told my husband I love buying unusual costume jewelry but the problem is I never wear it. Matching the jewelry to the outfit just seems like too much work as I’m rushing out the door to work. He and I agreed I’ll stop buying jewelry like this and instead we will save our money to buy nice, real pieces from the jewelry store! These pieces match with any outfits too, and I wear them every day.
I actually did not want to buy any plants in 2022 and I didn't however, people like to give me plants which is nice but I feel like I have too many already lol. So I think my collection still grew even though I did kill I believe one or two.
My goal for 2023 is to not buy any more non-sentimental t-shirts. I went through my shirts about two years ago and unhauled almost fifty (yeah FIFTY) that I had collected over the years. Realistically those shirts weren't being worn very often, as I have a few favorites I cling to and I can't even wear t-shirts at work! This past year I've collected quite a few more, and I'm finding that there are many I am just not wearing. So, for 2023 I want to try to not purchase any that are not sentimental (I'm going to three concerts next year of three of my favorite artists that I doubt I'll ever see again, so those are the only times I'm allowing myself to purchase t-shirts next year). I also really do need to go back through my closet and get rid of some that have accumulated.
for the clothes that don't fit right, if it's too big, loose etc. maybe try getting it tailored? gifting an item that doesn't work for you is great, but if you liked it enough to buy it in the first place, don't you like it enough to alter it to better suit your needs?
Love your honesty! Thank you for it. 🙂 I will buy much less fast food definitely in 2023, only a select few and Chick-fil-A is a fave of mine as well, very doable once a month. When I don't go there I have another option once a month to use. Happy New Year Ashlynne! 🎉🙂
What’s one thing you’re NOT buying in 2023? 🤍
A candle.

No more home decor I have a lot lol and I’m in the process of decluttering

I loved this video so much! I made my list immediately after watching this! So helpful and inspiring! ❤
These are great ideas, I’m inspired! I want to decrease my monthly “want” purchases too about twice a month and focus on what is needed. My spending has been excessive in this space. I like to fast food idea, mine will focus on special occasions, if there is one I can give myself that grace to enjoy. I’ll have to think of more 😊
Oooh that’s so good!! Good luck 🥰
Haha love that!! Good luck sticking to that goal in the coming year 🤍
20 only in the bedroom, wow!
@@hakuna8374 I have a problem 😅 I bought a lot of them after the first lockdown, they were my reward in a way
As far as paying for youtube, I have avoided that by getting a youtube ad blocker which is a MAJOR game changer.
Love these tips- merry Christmas
Thanks! And Merry Christmas!! 🤍🎄
Hey Ashlynne. I'll be happy to have your mugs. 😊
Yes I actually used up all the candles in the house this year! Greetings from Australia
Loved the video!! Definitely want to reduce spending on eating out or just find cheaper restaurants to go to haha
My list for 2022 was short: pajamas, shoes, seasonal decor, candles, and blankets. I think the only thing I was 100% successful with was pajamas. I keep the others to a minimum, though. Pretty proud of myself!
Now for 2023’s list…
Yes!! 🙌 That’s so great! Good luck crafting this year’s list
I’m not buying any more skincare or make up as I have so much that I need to get through. I’m also not buying any more Jewellery as I would like to get more enjoyment from the pieces I have
I have a coffee cup with a lid and then a regular coffee cup..I have not felt the need for more..less dishes makes me not put off dishes .dishes can't sit in my sink for more then a day or I'm out of dishes to eat on
That’s awesome!!
I LOVE your videos! Happy Holiday! Puzzles are so relaxing to me. I always working on one and when I am done with one I love to hand them off and people surprise me with new ones to do. Thankfully, I don't have an excessive amount.
Great video. So inspired to do something similar and share my list. Thank you.
I also want to try and take care of the plants I have and not get more!
3.impulsive buying of make up items.I have regretted buying things, I have never used.I not a make up person but many times I have bought highlighter , primer concealers which I have never used
Love this list!!
Im addictive to BBW candles!!!
Love that!!
Swaping puzzle is a great idea !
Perfumes ❤I want to finish all that I have! Loved this video you did well & good luck for 2023🤞happy Xmas 🎄
Thank you so much!!
I just swaped one bottle halfway through it with my mum. I was a bit bored with the smell and didnt want to buy a new one yet 😊 I took one of hers that i wanted to try
Hi May I please check with you what camera do you use I love the soft lightning in your video
Ooh, I don't know why I've never considered making a list like this but I'm definitely adding this reflection to my new year's reset. :)
Aww I love that!!
living a pretty frugal life, i had a bit of a problem with this one; i guess the bad things i don't need to buy is the chocolate crossants from our local shop, magazines and bags when i go shopping; when i have a cupboard ful at home; great video thoughx
For the last one, just go to your local library to borrow the puzzles! Your local library might have an amazing collection! Like you I'm trying to save money and space so I decided to check out more books instead of purchasing. Thanks for sharing your list!
A couple people mentioned that! I didn’t even even know it was a thing but now I definitely want to look into it! 🥰🤍
I enjoy your videos! I rarely comment but want to add something to your thread of comments. Thank you 🙏🏽
Haven t had to buy any clothes in 5 years. Never have got candles Have tons of puzzles and love to redo them.
Thanks for the motivation. Check your local library for free puzzles… Wishing you a Happy New Year!
puzzles are my weakness too, i purchase them at my local used bookstore, they are 3 for $2. super hard to resist.
Where is that dress from?! I love jt
Love this list!! Thanks for sharing 🥰🤍
I recently heard there are places you can rent puzzles. One company, which unfortunately I don't remember the name of, is a subscription where you can get as many puzzles a month as you want.
We go through candles pretty quickly… I think you’ll be surprised how quickly you get “caught up” 🕯️
Haha I guess we’ll see! 😅 Even so, after I burn through them all, my goal is to only have ones that I’m actively using
in 2023 my no buy items are
1. clothes
2. shoes/sandals
3. bags
4. make-up
5. skincare items
6. stationary items
promise to use up and enjoy everything i have
I am doing many of these myself.
Puzzles can be checked out of your local library! Always something new.
For me I don't want to buy extras I want to be more minimal than I already am so I want to use/read what I already have and when time comes I want to buy second hand books or go to the library 😌
You can check out puzzles from the library so that could be an option for you 😊
I'm ambitious, for me is the no buy year. I'm even cancelling subscriptions. 2021 and 2022 were the years do buy all the stuff I wanted, mostly craft related.
You could also just propagate your plants. My friend gives me clippings and vise versa..
Books, puzzles, anything made of linen and candles are my weakness. I have enough so will do my best to refrain from buying in 2023.
That’s so great, love this goal!! 🙌
Video très intéressante ashlynne bravo 😊😊
I'm looking to cut out fast food in favour of small family restaurants. I had Thai last night from a family-run restaurant and the quality was better than Thai Express and it was less expensive. Everyone wins!
Bingo! My weakness is stained glass supplies. This will be my one and only no buy challenge for 2023...oh, the torture...
Shoes that don’t fit or are uncomfortable!
Great video
I am not going to be going to the outlet stores to source things for my online clothing sales. I have a lot that didn't sell and I have piles of clothes that aren't even my size because of it.
No buys for me in 2023: books, jewelry (REALLY need to work on this one), and lastly low-buy on clothes. I want to be more consistent with some of my habits and work on those instead of shopping on tougher days.
Love this list!!
Oh and notebooks, I'm a hoarder of them 😅
Shoes and handmade mugs…..you and I are the same!!!
Any ideas on how to cut back on my makeup addiction??😬
Okay but the freezer and mug ones are calling me out so hard XD
I actually did not want to buy any plants in 2022 and I didn't however, people like to give me plants which is nice but I feel like I have too many already lol. So I think my collection still grew even though I did kill I believe one or two.
Haha love that 😅 Everyone was just trying to be generous!
I also really do need to go back through my closet and get rid of some that have accumulated.
sell them!!!!
Love that!! Sounds like a great goal for the new year! 🤍
for the clothes that don't fit right, if it's too big, loose etc. maybe try getting it tailored? gifting an item that doesn't work for you is great, but if you liked it enough to buy it in the first place, don't you like it enough to alter it to better suit your needs?
Love your honesty! Thank you for it. 🙂
I will buy much less fast food definitely in 2023, only a select few and Chick-fil-A is a fave of mine as well, very doable once a month. When I don't go there I have another option once a month to use. Happy New Year Ashlynne! 🎉🙂
i miss watching ur videos
