I can only imagine - after 3 days, I'm ready to rip off my Omnipod and move sites - not sure I want to live with it in one spot any longer than that...

I would love the smallest patch pump available. A part of the reason I am a little leary about getting a patch pump is that the patch pumps look too bulky. I use about 20 units per day and would love to have a small patch pump to cover 3-4 days worth of insulin. It would be cool if Tandem made a 300 unit pump for people who use much insulin and maybe a 100 unit patch pump if it was possible so that we diabetics who use less insulin could have smaller pumps attached to us. I do look forward to this but have a feeling it may be a few more years.

Yes I totally agree with you. And also travelling with a huge amount of insulin is a big mistake. Above 30 Celsius grad insulin significantly loses its strength. Body temperature is 36.6 Celsius grad. I don't know why the pump manufacturers don't know this. Description is included in every box of insulin. Additionally in Summer the high temperature also a big problem.

I am using Libre 3 CGM, and love that it lasts 15 days. I want to migrate to an insulin pump, but 3 days isn't long enough for me. Waiting on a 7 day solution. This is one I would definitely be interested in, especially since the the pump is refillable/reusable.

My specialist won’t let me try the 7 day infusion set because she thinks the possibility of lipohypertrophy is too high. What will the manufacturers of 7 day pumps do to counteract lipohypertrophy?

Thank you for making this! I heard about Sigi last year and have been waiting to see when it would be here. After being a LONG time podder, i am absolutely disappointed in their inability to be compatible with the latest smart phones. It really makes me question their competency to stay with the times and continue to be compatible with the ongoing versions of ios. Its super disappointing. And their DASH pdm is ridiculously not-user-friendly. I mean give it the base level ability to adjust brightness based on room brightness. I am sick of blinding myself when i need to give insulin in the middle of the night. Their customer service has also gone downhill lately so i am excited about the potential to switch to Tandem who always seems to be the most tech savy of all the pump companies. I love the prefilled insulin tubes as well because i think i have issues with air bubbles at the beginning and end of each pod and that causes highs. Cant wait for something new… 🙏 💙

I'm using the OP5 right now, and I detest the thing. I was initially using the OP Eros, and I gotten it to be pretty closed-loop with my Dexcom. The algorithm for the 5 is utter trash, and makes my husband, who is a programmer, fume. Hopefully, the Sigi will have the algorithm that Tandem is already using, which seems WAY stabler.

Does anyone have any idea of the potential cost of any of these pumps

  • @TheQueenrevolution

I know tubless folks swear by it. But they make me nervous. Having the ability to control the pump from the pump puts me at ease. Also, devices that need special chargers make me nervous 😂. I've been able to easily charge up anywhere... even if no one has that older charger, i can get one in 711 or cvs.
I would say that i think pump users should be able to have both a wired and wireless system to have the option and back up. While my wired pump with a key pad makes me feel safer, it would be cool to be able to go wireless for a vacation or certain occasions.

A big part about using any insulin pump is charging. While I'm glad this will be a wireless charged device, why make the charger a proprietary unit that only fits the pod? Just about everyone on the planet already has a wireless charger or two for their other devices. Now, tandem users have to add another charger to their crowded desk or nightstand?

The only problem with tubeless pumps is that Medicare DOES NOT cover them under Part B due to the fact that it is not considered by Medicare as a DME (Durable Medical Equipment)! I was on the Omnipod 5 and Dash systems and it is partly covered under Part D however my copay was a whopping $700.00 every 3 months - $2800.00 a year! I was finally able to switch over to the Tandem TSLIM X2 but had to pass the Medicare mandatory blood test called a C-Peptide! I failed it 3 times but was able to pass the Antibody specifications! I am now covered under Part B! Needless to say, the Omnipod was much easier to wear but look at the $ I'm saving! I suspect that all tubeless patch pumps will fall under the current Meficare criteria? Great vide Justin! Thanks!

@@diabe_tech thanks Justin! Your videos are fantastic and very helpful! One other point...I am in the process of trying to update the software on my Tandem TSLIM X2 to accommodate the Dexcom G7 CGM. I found out that if you don't own a PC (which I do not, only a Chromebook) you cannot download the Tandem Updater which is needed. I even went to a UPS Store to try to use one of their "public" computers but got as far as needing to enter an Administrative Username and Password which UPS couldn't help with! I tried asking my Healthcare provider but they had privacy issues? I spoke to Tandem and they're supposed to reach out to my field team? Maybe I'll just STICK with my Contour Next One meter? Thanks again for your reply!

I'm curious if these would use the Novorapid (or the Humalog equivilent) 300 unit cartriges, or if they'd use a smaller refill. Assuming you can swap out the cart without changing the patch, I suppose it doesn't matter the size, for those of us who use more insulin.

    • @diabe_tech
      @diabe_tech  11 місяців тому +3

From what I understand it would support 300 unit cartridges but also have the ability to swap out pumps and cartridges using the same site

The device will also serve as a foundation for future products, including a patch pump Hybrid called Mobi Tubeless, Nowak wrote. The device will use the original Mobi pump, with an on-body disposable cartridge system that has a tubeless infusion set.
“Users could switch to tubeless on the fly and back to tube based on their activity levels. The company is also investigating Mobi’s use-case in the pharmacy reimbursement channel,”

So this wonderful news. My question is about Medicare.Last year I thought about going on the OmniPOd but found out that it would cost me thousands of dollars every year. It is unaffordable because Medicare does not cover Tubeless Pumps. Is there any sign that Medicare might change this policy for seniors?

Hopefully Tandem brings this in under DME so someone like my Mom who is on Medicare could get it covered under Part B (DME) since her medicare supplement pays 100% of of what medicare doesn't pay on part A&B. She currently is on the Tslim x2 and all her insulin and supplies are covered under Part B (DME) and no charge to her outside of her premiums.
