  • In this video you will see the importance of always setting your trap back the exact same way after a catch when you're able to. This set has produced 2 reds and 3 coon so far and who knows how many more critters I''ll catch with it! I hope you enjoy the video!!

    Awesome job man may I recommend a trap set. So what you do is dig a trap bed but instead of putting your anchor at the bottom of the bed you go of to the Sid as far as your chain needs, dig a shallow trench where you want the chain, put your anchor at the end of the trench, cover the chain but at the bottom of the bed dig A 2 to 3 inch hole, put the bait in the bottom, cover it with dirt bed your trap solidly, and then put some lure on the outside of the bed and urine and then by the time the bait starts to “smell good” your scent will be long gone. It may take a week or two but don’t touch it other than relure after rain and if you put it in a good spot it will catch. Basically the idea is coyote came along, buried food and covered it up for later

    Just a thought, but if you placed a round object on top of the plate and then placed dirt on top, when u remove the ball it will leave a bowl shape and you can move the dirt away without putting pressure on the plate. But as successful as you seem to be I don't think it matters lol

    I will be using a trench set this weekend! I’m new to trapping and was searching specifically for a set that would be good for red fox. I’ve had pictures of a red all deer season in one of our spots and hope to trap him soon. Thanks for sharing!

    Think a trench set would work on a couple really shy coyotes? Caught 7 of their buddies but a couple are giving me fits.

      I’d use flat sets to catch the shy coyotes. Works really good to catch the stragglers

    So you got away from putting the white material under the pan? Been awhile since I seen you use it. Was it causing issues?

    My step-dad trapped red fox. He covered his trap in dried ground house manure. You mentioned, I think, sheep's wool. What exactly is that and it's purpose?

      Eye appeal, smells like fur, helps give you something to push on with a stick so that you can get the bait to the bottom of the bait hole

    The swivel on my trap broke today and lost the MB 550 and a coyote.

    Have you noticed a difference in catch rate since you stopped using poly fill?

    • @CarolinaCoyote
      @CarolinaCoyote  5 місяців тому +1

      I’ve caught 2 reds and 3 grays so far. I’m liking the peat moss a lot but I feel like it’s too early to decide which is better. They both work though!

      I use poly with a little peat moss. You have me curious about not using the poly.

    Are you using cellular trail cams to watch your traps in late evening, and going to retrieve the critters if they catch early? I'll second the remakes....I've got two sets that have each produced a coyote and possum and one is remade with another trap after the anchor came out!

    • @CarolinaCoyote
      @CarolinaCoyote  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes I use them for that. If I catch, I’ll go get the animal no matter what time it is. And they allow me to run more traps even with a busy work schedule

      I may try that after Christmas! Had shock springs and MB crush proofs arrive yesterday and I'm waiting on my Fox Hollows to get here then I'm gonna change up a few things!!! @@CarolinaCoyote
