I'm not a trapper I run houndsmen but watching all your videos with my 6 son's we ordered some traps and are going to have fun we have 1200 acres of pecan trees with ditches and to close to interstate to run hounds so why not
Great video. The last 2 seasons I moved away from coyote and fox urine and now use bobcat urine exclusively. Just a few drops. It really seems to be a super 'value-added' to my canine sets !!
I love your videos man they're very informative I haven't trapped in probably 30 years but I'm about ready to get back into it course watching you makes it look lot simpler I know there's some work involved but I'm ready to do it
Never had a lot of luck with dogs, but when I was a kid60 years ago I caught a lot of mink. They was valuable back then. I got a big old black boar that I got $49 for. That was a lot of money in the 1950's. Thanks Darrell
I'm a coondog hunter...but I decided to take your advice and try to set a trap on sight and try my luck on traping so I barrow a buddy's trap set it and sure enough I caught a coon pretty cool I may have to run me a small line next season. Your a pretty good traping teacher...thanks
Bait, lure, and urine! If you are setting on good sign, you should catch something. You mentioned that you have a step down dirt hole there as well. Good job! Set one more crazy set.
I see you ain't the only one to use a drill bit to clean your anchors. Another yote trapper said he saw your idea and I had to check it out. I used a 1/2" bit in my cordless drill until I broke my bit. Being too frugal to throw the bit away I welded a scrap piece of 1/2" rod to it making a "T" handle. It has worked for quite some time, especially on my coon line where my Fox earth anchors get clogged with mud! But my "cleaner" is shorter than yours due to using the broken bit and when cold it is hard to grip with gloved hands. After seeing yours I may have to buy a new bit and make another one! lol
New to the channel and trapping. Had recent success with catching beaver and otter on drown lines. Appreciate all your hide tanning videos too. Jaw traps and a whole lot of other stuff on order.....looking forward to using your techniques ASAP! Keep up the great work and vids, thx
Another good video, thank you. Watching your videos and getting pointers makes me think I might actually finally catch a coyote in a foothold. I've tried on and off for 5+ years for predator control, no luck yet. Snares and hunting, yes, not foothold traps. Thanks again.
Another great video, thank you! I would very much like to know more about your lures and baits. As well as you basic field tools and your custom made tools.
Another grate video old buddy. I made my first catch with your big crazy step down dirt hole. I will say he was buried up to his elbow no commitment problem for sure one that red.
Great sets & information !! 🤗 I am a newbie too the trapping game. I would like to know how often you rebait your trap set’s when weather is not a issue, and also when the weather is raining & or snowing ??? Thank you, in advance !! 🤗
Great job.. I can see this one catching a yote for sure.. question on your choice of bait? Whats the contents of the jar? also, do you think it matters how far off the edge of the field you need to be? like if youre closer to the edge, do you catch more coons, skunks and oposums?
I use a lot of heads hide and intrails of small game I have shot. I put them in the freezer and before I leave chop up while still frozen. Mice chipmunk dead birds are what they eat, why not use them. Also deer liver and lung.
Type of bait doesn't matter as much as you might think. He has said how & what it is before. Lure & urine work well without bait. NO it doesn't matter about the tree line. I find no difference in the woods or in a field, & you always have a chance of catching anything. Set on sign or close to it, best tip ever! Good luck bud.
@@rocknraptor3195 early in the season I rarely bait for k9. But when deer season is done the nest eaters go dormitory and the gut piles are gone. Thats when I bait
I'm need help catching a fox that's killing my chickens and turkeys in broad daylight. Any suggestions? I tried a box trap but had no luck so far other than catching an opossum
We have had coyotes set off our traps and still manage to slip their foot out, leave some hair as well, what would you recommend to fix that? Maybe too much cover/ debris? Trapping in northern michigan as well so weather is the worst.
First thing I would check is your pan tension. If it's too light then they may not be fully committed to putting their paw down before it sets off. Second would be if your traps are getting bound up from the weather set them firmly in wax dirt I personally use peat moss...pros and cons to both
I've caught a number of red foxes using yote gland and yote pee lol. So far, my best yote lure is a fresh stinky red fox remake lol. I've only caught 2 yotes so far. They are slick critters here, not in giant #'s either.
I would like to see a tire set, or a triangle set. They work. I use dirt hole sets, but flat sets have their place. Many times, flat sets catch dogs no one else can catch.
Hello Coon creek, you mentioned in your video. That you can over lure a set. Can you Please respond like you say you do. And explain that to me and us.

Mentioned you at the PTA conference. Was talking with Bill Duke. He spoke about the history of Duke Fur Co. Leading into Duke traps..
When I started out trapping I was looking for videos to help me get started and I started watching your videos and you learned me a lot in trapping
I enjoy going back and rewatching your videos to pick up tips i can use on my line
Just getting into trapping, the video is very informative and interesting. I hit the subscribe button
Glad you went ahead and showed the flat set, thanks.

Got my first trap kit. Looking forward to learning. Great video thank you
Gotta love flat/walk thru sets, especially now getting into breeding season curiosity lure or gland are always killer.
That t handle drill bit idea is awesome Thanks for showing that. Ill be making one today.
Like the drill bit t-handle idea. Gonna have to make 1
Can't beat that combo set. Something is gonna get to make a catch circle there.
Great job Stew, I caught 12 K-9 in this set my first year trapen totes. Thanks,
Love it I'm gonna try this for my first set ever in just learning to trap wish me luck
Going back watching some of the old videos.

That’s what I like also your step down set.
Great looking set and a perfect combo. Al

Great instructional how to! Love it Stu! And your casualness around a live trap has me shook. 😆
Nice set! Very well done...

Flat set works well in my area.

Thanks pal looks great!!
I use finned super stakes also. They are sturdy hold good and are easy to pull with the extra cable attached.
Now for the critter lol.👊💀🍻🇺🇲🍻

How do you suggest measuring "pan" "tension"? And how do you measure pan tension?
Nice set

What kind of bait is your favorite to use? I usually use the hawbakers fox and coyote or hiwatha valley bait
Perfect!
Love the dog trappimg
There is a lot of raccoon Beaver muskrat Fox and coyote where I live in Connecticut all I have to do is get my trapping license
Nuther good video, very informative

What is the purpose of the sheep’s wool in ur bait holes?
Might have better off with a scent post set.. you already have a dirthole there...but if it works, it works.
Both set will try out in a mountain environment
Love it keep up the great work helps us out!
Question is the trap between the holes
What urine do you prefer to use coyote or red fox urine?
Great job brother
What do you use for bait. Just any kind of meat I assume
What do you use for the bait and lure what brand ect
I've caught a number of red foxes using yote gland and yote pee lol. So far, my best yote lure is a fresh stinky red fox remake lol. I've only caught 2 yotes so far. They are slick critters here, not in giant #'s either.

Hey man I was curious if you still hold some fur back to make some stuff with if so what kinda stuff do you make
Unfortunately we can only use a #2 in Georgia.
Hey boss have you ever used deer organs as bait before?
What bait are you using?
so whats the difference between a flat set and a dirt hole set?
Watch both videos. Step down dirt hole is showy and trap bedded below grade 2 or 3 inches.
Flat is subtle and bedded down about 1/2 inch below grade.
How many coyotes do you average a season
Flat set is a bread and butter set.
Nice
Love your channel, nice set, I'm new to your channel and was wondering if you make your own lure and bait and if so can you give us a recipe for both?
So what’s your bait?
👍
Does lure go face down in the hole or face up
What's y'all's favorite bait for k-9s and coons I'm just starting out with trapping and I'm trying to get some ideas
Cavens predator bait plus and Grawe’s Prairie Fire have been my best producers so far on my small mn line.
Any hints you can give me
What baits do you use for k9.Also love the how to can you do some more k9 and coon how to vids
Why did you start trapping?
Do they roll on lure hole?
How's the finger you sewed up?
Could you do some snow sets
Please lol
He has done some on older videos
How can you over lure a set??
Hello Coon creek, you mentioned in your video. That you can over lure a set. Can you Please respond like you say you do. And explain that to me and us.
Which Packbasket do you use?
