My mom was picked up by Rodney when she was hitch hiking in 1976. If you google “Rodney Alcala girl in orange bikini” that’s her. He took her pictures in Topanga Canyon and got them a hotel room to sleep in for the night. She started to get creeper vibes from him, so she told him she would hang back while he went to get them food. While he was gone, she took off and got away from him. Also, while they were in the canyon, he kept trying to get her to go further into the canyon. She convinced him to stay where they were because the lighting was better. In reality, she wanted to stay where people could see them because she had a feeling he might’ve tried to hurt her if they went further down.

One Sunday I saw what looked like a man struggling to unlock an apartment door in my complex. On Monday I called the manager. I had the wrong idea...it was a locksmith doing an emergency change. Can I also say I absolutely LOVE that Sheryl ghosted him. He was probably SO in his feelings about it. For a man who obviously liked to be in control, it's just ICONIC that she wasn't won over and was like...mmm...hard pass thanks kbyeeeee.
The thing that kept occurring to me, throughout this video, is how many parallels I see between him and Ted Bundy. Smart, charismatic, great smile, super creep, could talk his way into or out of anything. The way he spanned the nation. The cockiness, the escapism, even the way he represented himself, as though he would do a better job than actual lawyers. Didn't even have a really fuhked up childhood. Idk. I don't have a point, other than that his story reminded me a lot of Ted Bundy.
I'd love to hear a dark history on that hotel. Also kudos to the person who called the cops and the cop that broke down the door and saved that little girls life.

John belushi! Cathy Silver Bag Smith! Yes ! “The Enquirer said she was known as “Cathy Silverbag” because she carried a metallic purse filled with dope”
Sometimes I forget that Bailey is talking about a serious topic because she makes us feel like it's a chat between ourselves and a friend - albeit about dark subjects but that's how charasmatic she is :)
My mom grew up in LA in the 70s. She used to walk to school just like Tali. When my mom was around 9 and going home from school, some teenage boys beat her up so bad they broke her neck. She’s okay now, but she said her neck still bothers her to this day. The 70s really were a wild time, and they taught everyone to be so much more cautious.
Why are people mad about viewer discretions? There are sensitive viewers out there and people who can risk triggering PTSD reactions when certain topics are delved into. I feel like Bailey never catches a break, there's always someone out there who has a problem with everything, even trigger warnings 🙄🙄🙄
Because studies have come out suggesting it actually does the opposite effect. So instead of preparing the viewer who might be sensitive it disturbed them. There's a lot of debate about how effective the disclaimers actually are, and there's basically no concrete evidence that it actually helps.
There is a parable that goes something along the lines of "A man who represents himself in court has a fool for a client." I think that's applicable in this situation.
Bailey... You're so correct! Had dinner with my girlfriends and we all agree that being wild girls in the 70's and 80's... We're lucky to be alive!! Times were so different...❤
So I was watching this and making dinner and my mom walked in the kitchen and was like I remember when this happened. (She was born in 1952) and she was glued to my phone. So you got a new fan Bailey ❤
My mom is 72 and she's been watching Bailey with me for about a year now and the moment she saw his picture she knew exactly who he was! Bailey is the best!!
I was 14 in 1977 and lived in Los Angeles. Wild times, believe me. The person that approached the girls on the beach while Rodney was taking pictures of them was actually their neighbor. The girls lived just a couple of blocks from the beach. The neighbor saw them, and came over and asked if the girls were ok. Rodney took off running immediately. So it's possible that no one would have approached them if the neighbor hadn't seen these girls she knew with Rodney.
Girl, what are you talking about? You look gorgeous even without make up. And your personality? Top tier. Sense of humour? Amazing. In conclusion, you are awesome. I hope you'll have a wonderful day, Bailey

I was in grade school during this, our whole school was brought down and taught what to do.... "NEVER get in the car or speak to strangers, even if they say they know your parents" was the biggest point they made CRAZY
The 70's were full of creepy dudes. I remember a strange man following me and a friend at the park. He was carrying a small duffle bag, and had no children. He kept following us and then got on the swings next to us. He had creepy vibes for sure! We jumped off the swings at their highest point and ran home. We had no idea the evil that was out there back then.
As a survivor I appreciate your viewer discretion because sometimes I'm not in the right place for it. Other times I'm like "Yeah, I'm stronger than my memories!".
The way he changed in personality sounds like a head trauma to me. The fact that his mom noticed something different and the army giving him that honorable discharge even though he clearly shouldn't have gotten one if he went AWOL. I wonder if the army was trying to cover something up and make him not their problem anymore. Like Bailey said, he didn't seem to have the tortured childhood others had. Our brains are so interestingly weird.
In this video i realize again about how much effort puts Bailey in her work, gosh all that research to tell a history while do her make up... Its just 🎉🎉🎉
Bailey! Netflix just announced a movie coming October 18th called "Woman of the Hour" from the woman's perspective on the dating show! I can't wait to see it, I immediately came back here to tell you!
I vote yes on the viewer discretion warnings. I have never been bothered by a single episode, until the graphic description of little Billy's death in the last episode. I'm a mom of a 3 year old and I was NOT ready to hear that 😭
im sorry you had to hear that but these are true crime stories it should be obvious that very dark things will be explained. In the future you should try to prepare yourself for these things
I've heard this man's story so many times, that I won't listen to anyone talking about him...but Bailey telling his story? I immediately clicked to watch! She makes the older stories almost sound new, bc her delivery is just superb! *Chef's Kiss* Edit: She even has new info I've never heard before!! And that's hard to believe, bc of the ridiculous amount of videos I've seen about him!! Just another of the many, many, MANY reasons of why I love Bailey so much!! *KUDOS TO YOU QUEEN*
A year or so there was a car found trying to abduct kids from my kids school. I talked to my kids about the dangers of strangers and I said to my daughter (preteen nightmare) "if someone says "I know your mum and she's asked me to get you" what do you say" and she's like "I'd tell them my mum dosnt have friends and I'd run away'. 😂
Bailey's the only one who I don't even care if she gets something wrong. Still love her better than people who get everything right but don't have her outlook and sense of...everything.
When I was younger my mom taught me that if anybody ever said they knew my parents to ask them for the code, because she would give them a code word if they really were there to pick me up, and when that code was used she would change it for the next time. I only ever had to use this once and I ran from the person when they gave me the wrong code.
Same thing here as last yr my parents got a text saying “hi mum it’s me, i texting from a friends ph, I can’t call but I’m in trouble and need $10,000 to be put into my bank” my parents are elderly and they adore my husband but they didn’t want to call my husband as they thought I may need money but didn’t want husband to know”… they were about to transfer money when my mum said “I’m happy to give you money but I want to meet u to make sure u are ok” all the sudden the person started to say “don’t worry about it” then my mum called me and i was in shock and couldn’t believe my parents were so close to transferring money and whilst it was nice to know they had my back if I was ever truly in that situation I said to them let’s create a code word as if this happens in future u can ask me for code word.. to this day I’m still shocked at how easily they were going to handover cash, especially as even though my parents are older I never thought that they would fall for an obvious scam ❤from Australia
My mom did something similar...we had a code word. I was so ready to question the would be kidnapper about the code word but alas...I never had to thankfully.
Aaaaaaaa! You actually had to ask the code!!? 🥶 That's what I'm teaching my son! That exact code thing! I was molested myself in childhood on multiple occasions and definitely want a better childhood for my kid! There are creeps out there, though!
Idk. I don't have a point, other than that his story reminded me a lot of Ted Bundy.
a couple of very obvious narcissists
I WAS THINKING THIS THE WHOLE TIME TOO !!!
Same. They even looked somewhat similar in their youth.
I thought so too, I was thinking Bundy too
Yep. I bet he idolized Bundy.
I'd love to hear a dark history on that hotel. Also kudos to the person who called the cops and the cop that broke down the door and saved that little girls life.
Me too
Yeah me too

I would love for Bailey to tell the story of Tanya Nelson, the Orange County woman who killed her fortune teller over a bad reading.

Turning off the alarm while still asleep is a REAL struggle 😂😭
😂😂😂 the struggle is real. Dang snooze buttons lol
Honestly, yes😂
I have been doing that since i was a kid, even when you had to have an actual alarm clock when smart phones didn't exist. I have no recollection when i do it. I also am super angry if someone wakes me up in the middle of my sleep and i don't have a recollection of that either. It's like im still asleep even though my eyes are open.
me screaming at my alexa to stop going off in the mornings😭
Anyone else also accidentally take screenshots when trying to turn the alarm off? I’ve deleted hundreds
Bailey, I am so sorry, I owe you so many likes! Your videos autoplay when I'm cleaning, playing games, cooking, etc and I don't end up interacting before the next one starts. You probably have so many more fans than you even know! ❤
I do the same thing! You can tell by the views to likes ratio that a lot of other ppl just let her videos play
I hit play before going to sleep as her voice is calming.
PLEASE do a Dark History on the Chateau Marmont!
Yes please do
John belushi! Cathy Silver Bag Smith! Yes ! “The Enquirer said she was known as “Cathy Silverbag” because she carried a metallic purse filled with dope”
Yes, please! Bump on this comment.
Bailey “Not only that but the police came up with some photographs… “
Me “oh no”
Bailey “oh yes”
Sometimes I forget that Bailey is talking about a serious topic because she makes us feel like it's a chat between ourselves and a friend - albeit about dark subjects but that's how charasmatic she is :)
So true. It always feels like it’s just her and me hanging out.
now that you mention it, I'm always washing dishes and talking back to these videos like she can hear me 😂 very silly
Same here😂❤
My mom grew up in LA in the 70s. She used to walk to school just like Tali. When my mom was around 9 and going home from school, some teenage boys beat her up so bad they broke her neck. She’s okay now, but she said her neck still bothers her to this day.
The 70s really were a wild time, and they taught everyone to be so much more cautious.
We were all “latch key kids” which is insane when you think about all that an evil person could have….you and the key to tour house.
Why are people mad about viewer discretions? There are sensitive viewers out there and people who can risk triggering PTSD reactions when certain topics are delved into. I feel like Bailey never catches a break, there's always someone out there who has a problem with everything, even trigger warnings 🙄🙄🙄
Exactly, I want to know if it contains child abuse because I don't want to watch those ones.
💯 💯💯
Because studies have come out suggesting it actually does the opposite effect. So instead of preparing the viewer who might be sensitive it disturbed them. There's a lot of debate about how effective the disclaimers actually are, and there's basically no concrete evidence that it actually helps.
I really appreciate them personally coz I’m addicted to crime and forensics but not if it involves children x I like a heads up before it starts
Triggered by trigger warnings. 🤦🏼♀️
I've been waiting ALL DAY for my dose of Bailey!!! 🎉🎉

Ohhhh yeah me too!!! ❤

There is a parable that goes something along the lines of "A man who represents himself in court has a fool for a client." I think that's applicable in this situation.
One of the detectives even said, "that's exactly how it went."
Funny how authentic Bailey is to have multiple generations watching and loving it
I love this!!!!!
And that’s just how quickly we get hooked!
Her transition without the San na sa.. this time felt so normal! FLAWLESS ✨️
Whoa I love the theme and I didn't even notice. 🤔
I didn't even notice 😭

Right! I mean I always enjoy her intro's. But I didnt notice
I have already seen this but love how bailey explains things and does her makeup.

In conclusion, you are awesome. I hope you'll have a wonderful day, Bailey

I was in grade school during this, our whole school was brought down and taught what to do.... "NEVER get in the car or speak to strangers, even if they say they know your parents" was the biggest point they made CRAZY

Bailey pronouncing “ex-cape” over and over again brings me joy. What a wonderful human being. Stay gold, Bailey.
Bahahaha 😂❤😂 I thought the same thing 😂😂
not the “stay gold” 💔💔💔 the outsiders was such a sad book/movie 😭
I noticed that too! In this and other videos
I don't get it.. mispronouncing a word?
@@mvargas3120 Yes, using her local dialect proves she is not a phony person. She is real, herself, and not pretending to be something she is not.
I really get angry that these types of criminals, the ones who hurt KIDS, end up living to their 70s and 80s... in jail!!
Right our tax dollars being spent well 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Same. Is it really a tortured life for them? I mean… come on.
Then watch something that's goin to trigger it kinda common sense if your mind not ready why you forcing it ... that's make it hard to believe
"I'm stronger than my memories" is such a nice way of saying it! I love it, I'm going to use it from now on!
Edit: auto correct is a pain. Sorry for the errors.
I had the same thought about the army, probably some kind of cover up.
That’s one explanation that makes sense, nothing else about this does.
I thought head trauma too when I heard about that.
In this video i realize again about how much effort puts Bailey in her work, gosh all that research to tell a history while do her make up... Its just 🎉🎉🎉
agreed!
Bailey! Netflix just announced a movie coming October 18th called "Woman of the Hour" from the woman's perspective on the dating show! I can't wait to see it, I immediately came back here to tell you!
Anna Kendrick is starring and directing it
I vote yes on the viewer discretion warnings. I have never been bothered by a single episode, until the graphic description of little Billy's death in the last episode. I'm a mom of a 3 year old and I was NOT ready to hear that 😭
Same here haunt me for days as a mom of young boy felt sick and couldnt stop thinking about him and wish someone could save him 😢😢😢
im sorry you had to hear that but these are true crime stories it should be obvious that very dark things will be explained. In the future you should try to prepare yourself for these things
@jetlir lajqi well obviously 🙄 she asked if we would vote on if we want the viewer discretion warnings back. I vote yes.
I would watch Bailey read from a phone book ,she is so likeable and charismatic
Do phonebooks even exist anymore?
@@ChristinaaArmani dont think they do LOL,its just a saying ,Bailey makes anything interesting ,reading from a phone book is pretty boring

I've heard this man's story so many times, that I won't listen to anyone talking about him...but Bailey telling his story? I immediately clicked to watch! She makes the older stories almost sound new, bc her delivery is just superb! *Chef's Kiss*
Edit: She even has new info I've never heard before!!
Smart😂
Lol 💚
I’ve heard this story a million times, but if bailey’s telling it, you best believe I’m watching!!
Right me too I love when she explains stories I know though, I love her explanation and her enthusiasm
I said the same thing!
For the 2nd time even
Bailey's the only one who I don't even care if she gets something wrong. Still love her better than people who get everything right but don't have her outlook and sense of...everything.
I have seen UA-cam’s and tv shows but she actually told me a few details I had not heard before !!!
I died laughing when she was doing the dating game impression and got so into it that she knocked something over 😂🤣😂
When I was younger my mom taught me that if anybody ever said they knew my parents to ask them for the code, because she would give them a code word if they really were there to pick me up, and when that code was used she would change it for the next time.
Yes, it's a very smart tactic
I did this for my children. Glad you got outta there!♥️
My mom did something similar...we had a code word.
Always were, are, and probably will find a way to still be around in the future, unfortunately .😣
The woman that told Rodney off for talking to the two young girls at the beach was actually Robin’s friends mother.
Then they let her leave alone

I have a daughter named Talia, goes by Tali… she’s 8… definitely scary!
The fact that the parole officer recognized anyone from that police sketch is a miracle.
Yes. Viewer discretion is a classic. Bring it back! Your voice in those really set the mood.
I grew up in the 70's. People made the mistake of thinking that it was a safe time. Man we're they wrong🤨
As a native New Yorker, we were hypervigilant even as kids. Everyone and anyone was suspicious. Our parents warned us, teachers gave safety instructions, police officers came into class once a month to speak on safety, etc. That was in a Manhattan private school. It should've been done in all schools, universities.
Right? When I hear millennials now say stuff like “I’ll never let my kid out because it’s so much more dangerous than it was back in the day!” I’m like oh friend please go actually look it up bc no.
It's never been safe. Not even before the 70s or 80s
