Glad that so many watchers also had suggestions on opening the back compartment of the ME. I've bought one with a missing select wheel on the right side, and even found a replacement for it, but they are difficult to figure how all that comes apart. Hoping you had luck getting your Pentax back in working order for shooting. These are great cameras if you have a functional body that isn't throwing a tantrum, as it needs repairs. Thank you for your video. Best wishes.

Ok, please don't start taking the camera apart. Take a paper clip, straighten it out. Then make a hook at one end of the paper clip, small enough to fit through the hole from where the winder fits. Push the hook part of the paper down the hole. Use it like a lock pick. With care by pulling, pushing and turning you can find a ridge inside the hole. When you find the ridge pull up against spring tension. This will pull open the door latch.

Yep. This is the simplest method and takes less than a minute.

To open the stuck door, you unscrew the bottom plate, then unscrew the bottom door hinge bracket (opposite to the latch side), lastly take a small paper clip and push the spring loaded hinge down from the top side to release the door. It’s unnecessary to remove any top plate components.

This could have been resolved in minutes. I had the same issue while replacing the asa dial. I accidentally closed the door with the winding mechanism removed.
I simply got a very thin screwdriver and pushed down the top pin of the hinge (it's spring loaded and very easy to access) and removed the door from that end. From the initial problem to resembling the winding mechanism to re-attaching the door, took less than 5 minutes.
