Hello Everyone!
I'm an Italian photographer based in Amsterdam (the Dutch one).
I enjoy all kinds of photography, but my preference goes to live music events and long exposure, though I will always try to find some time for Street photography too.
One thing I like to do when not taking pictures is getting to know my gear, by testing it out, taking it apart and trying to fix it, when it doesn't work.
My approach is quite hands on, and I will probably take a lens apart before I bring it to be fixed, as I value the experience I gain by doing things myself, even if the result is not perfect or the process not optimal.
It's so easy and fun to tinker with your gear, and this is what I would like to convey in my videos, that there is no reason to be afraid of making a mistake, or to treat your stuff like it were made of fragile crystal. Sometimes a bit of duct tape or a couple of screws will do miracles.

How I edit videos on the go! Insta360 One X mobile app workflow
I have seen a lot of people asking about how to use the Insta360 One X and how to use the software it comes with.
One of the amazing things about this camera is how easy and intuitive the workflow is. There is really not much more to making a cool video than to go out and shoot it. I hope this video shows that.

After buying my Insta360 One X I got to use it both as a holiday/vlog tool and for work, making videos for social media marketing. Here are some quick thoughts about my experience so far. SPOILER ALERT: It's pretty awesome for vlogging and social media videography. You can see my travel vlog videos at my other channel: ua-cam.com/channels/2ZEDyK-95AdmX0Ln_KprsA.html

Insta360 One x - First video editing results - UNBELIEAVABLY SIMPLE
Переглядів 2905 років тому
I took my new Insta360 One x for a spin on my bike, the day I bought it, and tried to see how simple it would be to create a video and edit it with no previous knowledge of the camera and software. within 24 hours and a bit of research, I was able to output this video of my ride from Monnickendam to Amsterdam. This camera really is incredibly easy to use and work with.
Troubleshooting a cheap speedlight transmitter (No more power!)
Переглядів 7147 років тому
After a few days of good performance, my cheap Wansen wireless flash transmitter started malfunctioning. The trigger started missing shots randomly, making me think the battery might be depleted, so I decided to open it up and see what the issue might be. As it turns out, the battery casing for this trigger isn't designed too well, and the battery seems like it might have room to move around a ...
Wireless Flash Triggers for low budget photography
Переглядів 27 тис.7 років тому
Another unboxing of "budget" photography gear from China. This time I'm checking out a set of two Wansen wireless receivers and a transmitter. Gear is getting cheaper, and products like these (provided they work), can be of huge help in getting more people to learn new techniques and better their photography. In this video we see what's in the package, and whether or not everything works. I hop...
A speedlight for 25 bucks? Unboxing the Viltrox JY680A
Переглядів 14 тис.7 років тому
It can be quite easy to avoid flash photography for a long time, both because of the perceived steep learning curve and because of the cost of gear. There are solutions, however, and I decided to try ordering one of the cheapest speedlights I could find, the Viltrox JY680A, to see what a price tag of 25 Euro (shipping included), can provide in terms of build, functionality and results. I finall...
Building a digital camera from a scanner: Making a prototype
Переглядів 1,9 тис.7 років тому
I have been working on this project for some time now, (it involves a modified flatbed scanner as a light sensor)and built two prototypes so far, both with cardboard box bodies. While the results, in terms of picture quality are quite good so far, I wanted to build a body that would be a little more sturdy, easy to move, self-containing, and hold at least some slight rain, so a few days ago I d...
Calculating focal length and aperture of a magnifying glass. Easy, fun and useful!
Переглядів 4,2 тис.7 років тому
I'm in the process of finding ways to optimize a project I'm working on. This is a modified flatbed scanner that is used as the light sensor on a self-made digital camera. I found a few projects of people who already tried this out successfully, and after seing what they were able to achieve, I was hooked, so I decided to build my own. The camera is working and has given some interesting result...
Get the aperture ring in your vintage M42 lens to work in full manual mode: An easy mod
Переглядів 18 тис.7 років тому
I really enjoy using M42 (AKA screw mount) lenses. Manual focusing is a great exercise and the quality of the glass is often surprising. My first experiences with this Osawa 28mm f2.8, however, were not great, as I soon noticed I had no control over the aperture, which was constantly set to f2.8, and with no option to switch the lens into manual mode, I was stuck with a very shallow depth of fi...
Unboxing the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Camera: A first look
Переглядів 437 років тому
I recently received this camera as a gift, and as I see a lot of people interested in analog, and especially "instant" photography, I figured I would make an unboxing video, with some of my first impressions on the camera, without having used it, yet. As a person who grew up with the old Polaroid instant cameras always around the house, this revival of quirky, old technology is really fun and i...

Pentax ME: First Impressions on a Dirt Cheap Buy
Thank you for the helpful video. Note the lenses are three. The first element after opening have two parts with some kind of spacer between. I was just waiting the moment with the aperture tear down as that's where my problem is, but... Anyway your video gives me courage to continue :-). By the way mine is branded Prinzgalaxy but look exactly the same. Missing only the tripod mount collar.
Due , Due, if you are going shoot a video PLEASE Blow your nose first and wash your hands then shoot a video
Works great with Vivitar 283 flash guns allowing the flash gun to be used off camera and isolating the camera from any high voltage that these old flash units can produce which can damage digital cameras.
Black wire with one end connected is the antenna
thanks for the video, those triggers can works with an optical triggers to works with the pop up flash of a point and shoot? thanks you
How to assemble the rear lens unit correctly? there is one straight-concave lens and one straight-convex lens. Which side should I put towards the front lens
When screwing the pieces back together, set one on top of the other and turn gently. Do not for them together. It may take a bit of turning but they will eventually catch and thread.
Have you tested the receiver with a vintage flash that usually have high voltage hot shoe ?
there's condensation in between both the two peices of glass of the rear extended section is there a way you know of to separate them , there seems to be threads in the cylinder but there's no access as the length of the tube makes it hard to get your fingers or any tools in it was used by and then gifted to me by my grandad so im not really in a position to buy another but if there's a way to repair it for sentimental value i would, i really appreciate your video though as i didn't even know what could unscrew to begin checking out the problem, i was unscrewing the glass at the top, it seems that is how it was manufactured by screwing it in and then the plate with the focal length and brand name but my grandad has screwed into the metal to unscrew it it seems most likely for cleaning or aligning, maybe he already knew it was fogged up
Same issue. But found it unscrews. After cleaning, I found this vid and at 8min time mark of this vid it's indeed also shown. Unscrew the lens element cap after and you can clean the rear element. Hope this helps and your lens will have another life, like mine!
Mine came with APKINA branding and works flawlessly
Wow! Exactly what am experiencing now with mine. Am here learning the solution, thanks you.
They really work I'm just a newbie in this industry and thank you for this video🎉
“Semeye right” its semi right
el que tiene 4 canales, se puede usar con dos flashes al mimo tiempo?

Genius! I fixed up a Helios 44M-4 58mm and Carl Zeiss Jenazoom 35-200mm with this trick, and both are currently working fine on my Canon EOS 4000D - yep, old full frame lenses do look good on those APS-C sensors as long as you can deal with the crop!
using all that, how can you determine magnification?
Starts at 12:30
Great video, thanks so much
How can we determine the magnification power?
ON my Fujinon 200mm EBC lens, I laid down a piece of waxed paper, coated the pin with Superglue and stood the lens which pressed the pin and left the lens overnight on the waxed paper. In the morning, I picked up the lens which was not stuck to even the waxed paper, cleaned off any residual Superglue and it's worked fine for 2 years.
It work with all flash ?
Welcome, I have subscribed you, one of my good friend from Switzerland Stefan told you about your vedio clips special M 42 how to remove pin from lens, I saw it fully, will try if you are at Facebook send me the link
Hi, I recently bought a Pentax ME and it has a very similar problem. The LED always lights up on OVER, no matter which ASA or aperture I select, it always indicates OVER. And when I turn the dial, there are no clicks on the compensation stops. Is it the same problem? The camera was kept unused for a long time, it is not known if any maintenance was done in the past, maybe the display was mounted wrong. Could it be that my problem is also just the display assembly? I don't have tools to dismantle it, the most I could do was remove the part that has the rewind lever, the second part with the slits on the edge I can't take it off and I'm afraid of ruining it.
I am real late to the party but I have some late advice. Lol... Paint the shiny surface areas that the paint has rubbed off black. Add new light seals if they are old. Then test again. Great camera. Those ME's are tough little machines ;)
I found a ME Super for $70 but it does need a lens. So small and light might make a great street shooter.
Time west no talk to flesh flesh recycling time test
Hi. I have pentor 400mm. Great video. Now i know how to clean mold from the first lens. the lens got a second life. :)
glad it helped!!!
Hi there, Hope you are well. I have a question. If you do not have the auto aperature option anymore on the m42 lens (because either you have an adapter which blocking this option, or you have different system in your camera body to conrol the auto aperature), you will focus on the biggest apperature, and when you done, you settle the right f stop, or you focus on smaller aperature like f11? In this case isn't the view in the finder too dark? What is the common (esyest) practice in this case? Rgds: Tamas
Hi!!! Good question... I think it depends on your personal preference and the circumstances you are facing. If you are using a tripod or aren't too concerned with slight camera movements ruining the framing and focus, you could certainly focus at a more shallow aperture and then set the correct one. if the light is bright enough, though, I would just set the aperture I want to work with, and shoot from that. I hope this helps :)
@@photoncaptures7828 Thanks ;)
In the USA the M42 mount is most commonly found in the tens of thousands of Pentax screw-mount cameras and lens that military personnel bought and/or sent home during the era of the war in Vietnam. While the mount was first used in popular German cameras sold by Contax and Praktica, in the USA a lens described as having a Pentax Screw Mount can also be described as having the M42 mount - the terms here are synonymous.
does it work for fuji film?
Can you switch the English auto-captions on please?
The extra black wire is actually the antenna
I have this and haven’t used it in a long time...trigger won’t work without the cable now. I’m assuming the battery is gone and seems like it can’t be replaced.
It can. I just bought it and at the end of mine instruction sheet they say that if u unscrew the little screw in the trigger, u can't simply change the battery there is inside.
Thank you, this really helped! I did however remove the entire thing :D
Personally I just take the old crap out with a toothpick and some ISO wipes. Then get this... I don't even replace them after!?! Hahahaha. Got this tip from a repair shop that has serviced thousands of cameras in Canada. Nice clean camera, no gunk. While we're at it, I used to live in Amsterdam; how is the old Grey Area Coffeeshop doing? The Cafe Emmelot?
I have the Tasman variant of this lens, thank you :)
Hi, its world with a Canon TTL flash. The TTL mode work, or only on manual mode?
ITS A GRUB SCREW YA CLOWN !!!! 🤡
FINALLY.... I'VE FOUND A CURE FOR INSOMNIA !!!! 😴😴😴😴
Glad I could help ;)
Its fascination how easily the front can just be screwed off. So simple.
Yeah, it's a simple product for simpler times :)
Does it work on cannon 200d?
I wouldn't know for certain. I assume it's a universal device, but I can't guarantee
yes, on all of it
My father pulled an old Quantaray lens out of the basement, and it seems to have some, well. *issues* and needs a good cleaning. This lens was likely purchased in the 80s, but it's pretty much identical to the one you have here. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting to find a "How to" on disassembling it but here we are!
Glad you found it!!! I hope it helps you with cleaning and restoring it to good use
Extra wire is for more wifi signal...,mistery solved in 2020 :))
For ur next video please clean ur nose and not to make voice of ur noise anymore.thats really disgusting 😒 😑
hahahaaaay
This could have been resolved in minutes. I had the same issue while replacing the asa dial. I accidentally closed the door with the winding mechanism removed. I simply got a very thin screwdriver and pushed down the top pin of the hinge (it's spring loaded and very easy to access) and removed the door from that end. From the initial problem to resembling the winding mechanism to re-attaching the door, took less than 5 minutes.
Is MFI certified
u suck my friend
Explained really well.. I was searching for it . Hats off to u
Thank you very much!
This is the answer to Nikon's FA which you Couldn't buy the lens for what you paid for the entire Pentax w/lense, and it works nearly as well. Asahi is top notch equipment. The light seals are available online; ebay, etc... Just a pain to remove the jury rig someone left you.
that's really good to know, thanks!
@@pedanticmrpender just getting the seals out seems like the biggest chore. Of coarse the folks who do the instruction make it seem so easy, but they may have done a dozen or so before. Thankful you managed to finish up with what you had purchased. I would be excited knowing that the light seals were done, just so I could shoot a new roll of film. The only thing that could hope to get in now would be through the eyepiece when using a tripod. Doesn't happen when your using the camera in a normal situation, just when your head isn't blocking the outside light. My Canon had some issues with that problem. Really happy for your success my friend.
Glad that so many watchers also had suggestions on opening the back compartment of the ME. I've bought one with a missing select wheel on the right side, and even found a replacement for it, but they are difficult to figure how all that comes apart. Hoping you had luck getting your Pentax back in working order for shooting. These are great cameras if you have a functional body that isn't throwing a tantrum, as it needs repairs. Thank you for your video. Best wishes.
