I was expecting this to be just another golf tip video that does nothing for my swing, but it genuinely made a positive impact almost immediately. The analogy description at the start of the video really was the bingo moment for me. Thank you very much 🎉
I quite accidently started looking just in front of the ball on my swing, suddenly I was making solid contact and getting loft and distance. This is a great tip I cant wait to put a few tee's out and see if that improves it a bit more.
Thank you for all of the tips. You have really helped me in the past with how to practice on a driving range and this is certainly something I am going to try next time.
This was a great tip!! I saw a previous video you did on this and it reminded me of something I've done before which is look at the ground in front of the iron and BEHIND the driver.
I tried this after seeing your tip about placing a tee one club head length in front of the ball and I instantly started hitting the ball pure for the first time in playing golf for nearly 30 years 🤦♂️so I will definitely try this as well thanks for all your tips
Alex, I've seen the punching, kicking analogies before. Others as well...throwing a ball, throwing a frisbee. All of these motions seem natural to us to not extend early. Why is golf so different? How is it not natural like other sports?
I've heard about looking in front of the ball and not at the ball. I have tried it, but it definitely needs a lot of practice for me. Definitely going to persist with this tip Alex. 👏👏
last year, I looked at the grass under the ball, and did well. now I need to be more aware of the timing of the release, biggest thing, though, I need to get out and play more.
Yes; through the golf ball. looking at the ball and the front of the ball; the downswing must try to get to the front point. I hope this clarifies your great ball attack position.
My biggest problem when I golf with 5 and 6 irons I tend to choke all the way down on them so I don't get the distance and they tend to be the same as a 7 iron, I am wondering if one length clubs might work better for me?, I am 5'6 tall, any tips to help me not choke on the club so much?
I have been struggling with my back I slipped a disc a while back and I suffer bad with it. Is there a different type of swing I can do that doesn't impact the back as much. Great video as always 😊
Hi Alex, thank you for the tips! Great videos. I hit terrible driver slices. My pro said I need to get a puntching bag and a baseball bat because it seems I am not "smashing" the ball, but actually rotating through it and has a result face is open... Can you elaborate on this smash part... I have been trying it, but seems I haven´t figured it out yet. Thank you!
Watched this tip this morning want out for 18 holes mid day, just got back and having this as my only swing thought today was hitting the ball so much crisper, full shots and chipping, never looking at my balls again
Alex what's causing me to shank the ball off the hosel with my irons. My guess is I'm swaying and not keeping my weight on my left side and also picking up the club instead of swinging it over my right shoulder
@AlexElliottGolf I have an issue with moving my upper body backwards, and then forwards during my swing making my swing inconsistant. What can I do to rotate my shoulders without having my sternum move behind the ball.
Through it, not to it, new to Alex tips, there punchy delivered at pace not those long winded sermons with so much info they baffle me, what about some (freebies) like a round with you or a freeeee lesson😊
my ideology behind the swing is the ball gets hit by consequence. you don't try to hit the ball, you swing for a specific turf interaction, the ball just gets hit because its in the way.
What do I do if my divots are too "far" Infront of the golf ball? I feel like especially with my wedges I catch the top of the ball and then divot happens way ahead. I'm scared to move the ball to far forward though.
I was at the range and my irons weren't going well! I tried to hit down on the ball but was aiming at the ball and my strike was still bad ? I aligned myself to bottom out in front of the ball - improving but still not there ? It was only when I stopped “ looking too much “ AT THE BALL “ that my strike became better - not perfect yet of course ! PS my longest iron is my 6 iron!
That’s what I do with every club from wedge to driver I focus on where I want the lowest point to be and swing, and it works as long as I put a good swing on it 👍.
Shanked the ball one time and topped the ball the next. I would NOT try this. Instead, set the club 6-8 inches behind the ball Moe Norman style, it forces you to shift your weight forward and have the club bottom out later, than sooner.
This concept takes time. Not a few sample shots. I had to build a process to ingrain this idea. Short irons off a tee to begin. You have to just not care about the contact and flight right away. The purpose is to build a confidence that its about a well balanced solid swing through an area where the ball happens to be. I also use my vision to watch my hands and grip swinging around my torso to make sure my hand path was consistent. Eventually this got me to concentrate on my swing versus hitting at the ball. It solved early release and flipping and got me swinging to a full balanced finish position. Eventually you can connect your swinging mission with ball contact. Definitely a process. But worth it. Now my target on the course be it a fairway or green is my primary target. Not that little white pellet. Just a thought.
*I USED THIS CONCEPT today during my coaching day!! You have to use this for GREAT ball striking*

Thanks!
Thank you frank!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
This is real. Tried it today on the course and what a difference; like I've been holding the wrong end of the club for the last 30 years!
Can’t wait to take this tip to the course, your chipping tip the other week was fantastic and made so much sense… many thks

Mate, just been to the range, tried this and it worked each time !!, amazing, felt a bit awkward but results were great
Finally swinging through the mud with confidence - thanks man!
Thanks, I’ve been looking for someone to point this out with irons.
Outstanding tip!! I love the boxing and kicking analogies too.
This was a great tip!! I saw a previous video you did on this and it reminded me of something I've done before which is look at the ground in front of the iron and BEHIND the driver.
I've tried this before and it does work, although it's difficult not to focus on the ball.
Great that your dialling it in Peter
Solid tip Alex! 👍🏼
Great analogy using boxing and kicking as an example of where to fully extend our arms during a golf swing 👌
Glad you enjoyed it
I started aiming in front of the ball last season and it helped bunches. Haven't tried that far in front for practice. Anxious to see how this works.
I tried this after seeing your tip about placing a tee one club head length in front of the ball and I instantly started hitting the ball pure for the first time in playing golf for nearly 30 years 🤦♂️so I will definitely try this as well thanks for all your tips

4:20 your body I leaning away from the target, is that the proper release posture?

Quality drills as usual alex. Will be putting this into practice ready for the season👌
Great help. Might I suggest that you use shot tracer so that we could see the important shot flight. Thank you 😊

Great video, does this include woods and Driver?
Great video, fab
Awesome thank you!
How would I hit the driver? How far behind the ball. First time I came across your videos. Your a great teacher
Thank you Stuart I would look 1/2 inches behind the golf ball!!
@@AlexElliottGolf Thank you very much. Keep sending great tips.

I’m partially sighted so look a ball ahead anyway & it really changed my ball striking 😁
Just watched your lessons on striking your irons and look ahead of the ball. What about driver should you look at a point behind the ball?

How does this apply to hitting a wedge shot? Does the set up change for ball lying on hard pan? Thanks.
Always struggle with where to focus on the ball at address. Will be trying this on the range tomorrow.

Amazing to hear Leon!!! So happy to hear it helps
There seems to be a double voice track at about the 3.35min mark… not sure why 🤷♀️
Alex what's causing me to shank the ball off the hosel with my irons.
My guess is I'm swaying and not keeping my weight on my left side and also picking up the club instead of swinging it over my right shoulder
Great video Alex and awesome explanations swing through it not to it
Thank you Robert!!! I hope this helps!!!
@@AlexElliottGolf I know it will 👍👍
without sounding pedantic .. they were very approximate ‘ two club lengths ‘ .. is that ok or better to actually measure for consistency ?
would this apply for driver strikes as well?
yeah
Well done alex 🏌♂️ 🙂 👍
Thank you 🙏🏼

That punching the bag demo really clicked thanks
Brilliant
Thank you
Extend after impact. Stack and tilt or look at John Rahm.
Nice!!!
Tried my best not to laugh, but im also happy you're a golfer😂
How do I stop my hockey hand push on the ball before swinging back? I simply can’t stop doing it 🙈
Any tips to hit a fade?
Great question!! Keep your eyes on the channel
SWEEEEEET, so as a blind guy, i can go play golf now!!!! Yahoooooo
my ideology behind the swing is the ball gets hit by consequence. you don't try to hit the ball, you swing for a specific turf interaction, the ball just gets hit because its in the way.
We are swinging a golf club in balance through an area where the ball happens to be. Not hitting at that same ball.

I would say your to ahead of the golf ball with the chest at impact. Try the middle of the chest on the golf ball at impact
@@AlexElliottGolf Thank you good sir. I'll give that a go.
@@23cSolis let me know how you get on

finally, it makes sense.
Punching! Kicking! Yes! I'd never heard that before.
Love that!!!
Cobra CB’s 😘
There’s still snow on the ground but I tried this on wiffle balls in the basement and it felt better than anything I’ve tried
Should I see the club hit the ball because 95 percent of the time I don't and if I should how do I do it CHEERS
Yeah yo should be really
I usually hit my irons thin unless I use a tee!
Alex; I guess you have to look at the ball. Nevertheless, ower vision could look at both at the same time; do you agree?
i try to do this on the course but it's easier said than done lol
For sure try it in the practice swing and take the feeling into the shot
@@AlexElliottGolf thank you for all you do mate

Hear that you have this in the game!!
Ive been doing exactly this for the last couple of months, strike has improved massively 👍🏼
My comment should say I aligned my seeing to bottom out AFTER the ball but still wasn't exactly there - Sorry!!
Yes love that idea!!!
7 iron 180 metres wow
I hope it helps you!!!
