THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU…….THANK-YOU! My problem when I started playing was trying to help the ball up. I thought I sorted it until a good player told me I was still doing it to a lesser degree. I searched UA-cam and came across your tip. I tried it and it IMMEDIATELY worked and still does. It also stops me looking for the ball on the downswing and arms getting in front and me trying to kill it. I don’t notice the ball anymore but it flys off my club. If I got a good contact with my 5 iron, I hit it about 175 ish. I’m now hitting it 210 plus. Only I’m from Northern Ireland I’d personally come and shake your hand. This has totally changed my game. Long straight shots STRAIGHT down the middle and if I miss, it still stays in play. I was buzzing after I’d tried this and it WORKED! I really do owe you a drink…….CHEERS mate 🍻
A 5i to 210yards is PGA range... that's Awesome! I've yet to have that kind of a return on implementation a new technique but your story gives me a glimmer of hope. Thanks for sharing.
This i why i love your videos. You’re not twisting us into pretzels with static positions. Hoping this helps my contact because chunking is the plague and bane for us amateurs
This was much needed. Was having the round of my life at a difficult course and chunked my 9 iron a couple times in a row after beautiful drives and really deflated the momentum. Still a great time of course, but next time I’ll be ready after this.
I switched to not looking at the ball last year and have found that it help to release my swing and make flush contact. Highly recommend trying it. Takes the fear out of playing.
Mate,I forgot how to hit the ball, seen your channel the other day, reduced my swing and guess what👍 I can’t wait to try this now as I look at the back of the ball.I’m feeling positive cheers
It works in play. Just commit to hitting something in front of the ball (piece of grass). Have the intent of making a divot in front of the ball. Forget the ball. The ball is just in the path. Forget it.
This a really top tip and great advice from Alex ... I took this to the course and produce some of the best hybrid golf shots I have ever done, long and straight ... not high or deviating .. thank you so much for this and everyone should try this method ... worked for me
I will absolutely work with this. I've been gripping down and it's been positive, I noticed some bad head movement on the backswing, but didn't really have a positive "do this" idea to fix it. Look ahead, core through to target, my new mantra lol.
Tnx very much Alex my biggest problem with my golf is hitting behind the ball I'm going to work on what you say Does gripping slightly down affect the distance of the shot Best wishes Arnie from South Africa
Another tip i would add (as a VERY beginner golf player here, still trying to figure everything out) I noticed a lot of people on youtube teaching golf had their lead foot slightly more fanned out towards the target than their trail foot. I did that and I went from my iron shots always going to the right to straightish/left (depending on how far i had it fanned out, still figuring that part out) and even started drawing the ball it seemed.
Hi Alex; just 1 question. I only hit it fat occasionally so what I need to know is should my forward leg be straight at impact to stop forward momentum & over rotating & losing power? I can't seem to get the timing right which is when I do hit it fat. Thanks.
Okay, pointing the head slightly ahead of the ball looks like a simple, immediate way to avoid fat or duffed shots with an iron or hybrid 😉. Got it! Now what about Shawn Clement driver drill that makes the student's head pointing behind the ball instead? Seems to be the opposite drill.
Something I asked for a while ago. Thanks very much mate. Will be applying this at the week-end. I think the course is best place for this one, range mats can kid you…
Ah excellent! Yes mats can be forgiving for sure. But one can still feel the contact is a little firmer shall we say. Give those tips a bash and let me know how you get on.
I find that my left knee rolls out forward on downswing and end up usually hitting 1-2" behind the ball as right side collapses. any thoughts Alex? ty.
It’s your trail side dipping and lead side going up. You need to feel the Raghu shoulder over the ball. Impact lesson a couple of months back on channel will show you
I tried this at the range last night. I had issues at times looking behind the ball and hit fat shots. What a difference in compression and it feels as if the clubface is square for longer though the ball! Felt weird at first but once you rotate correctly its fantastic!
Kept on at my son about this - if you focus on the back of the ball you hit AT it rather than through it. He was almost stopping his swing a couple of feet after the ball because he was hitting all his speed at the back of the ball. He got it after a while, I put a tee in the ground ahead of the ball for him each shot ... takes a little time, but then the rest follows
I would add a couple more things. CLEAR YOUR HIPS and FOCUS ON THE TARGET!! That is what I do in my swing. I clear my hips as soon as I can in the down swing and then find the target. The ball is irrelevant. I find that I hit the ball when I am looking at the target!! It works!!!
I've been playing golf for just over 2 years and have managed to get my handicap down from 25 to 20 and what I have learned is if you keep hitting behind the ball what you need to do is get some slightly shorter clubs or just hold the club a big lower down. If you're still having problems then you are doing something else wrong. Follow my tip and you can't go wrong. Best wishes, Johnny Muscles
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf the other thing to do is to insert 3 extra sets of insoles to your golf shoes. This will add about 10mm to your height. The downside to this hack is that your shoes are then far too tight and crush your feet so make sure you use a golf buggy.
Close your dominant eye and you eliminate focusing range. My right eye is dominant when I close it my focus switches to the front of the ball. My swing bottoms out an inch beyond the ball.
I’m having a weird issue I lost a lot of distance with my driver I was hitting the driver around 280-300 carry and now I’m hitting it like 240-250 but I’m hitting my irons and wedges around pga your average idk what’s going on with my swing but I’m super confused
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I also hit my long irons shorter too may having contact issues I realized that my arm tends to bend and it doesn’t straighten again but when it’s straight I hit my pw between 140-160
Maybe it is just me but even though I focus on a point ahead of the balls I still hit behind the ball over half the time. Guess some things are not able to get fixed to work properly.
Alex Is the focus ahead of the ball a quick fix or a tip for life? Do good golfers like yourself do this every time? I have tried it and it does lead to better compression so it can work, but i find my ball striking to be less consistent than when I focus on or just behind the ball.
Little tings like this can be a principle.. but if it's not a consistent improver... it may not be for you. look at more of the pressure shift and going through.
If you want the lowest part of your swing to be just in front of the ball, why not just adjust your stance so the ball is just off-center towards your back foot?
Now that I'm working in my hip rotation in specific, my swing is slight changing and I'm hitting slightly fat. When I'm able to clear the hips properly it's like PRO. 3wood off the deck 240yrds straight as an arrow. Just wish I could do it consistently.
I do Not get the idea of the head position that is mentioned here at all 🤔... The rest no problem, but angling the head position making No sense... what am I missing?🤔😤🙄 Always practiced in keeping eyes on the ball through wing... but angling or tilting the head!?... WTH?
