Best MtG youtuber imo, but there is one thing I miss. Younger Seth used to always say: "The kids are eating tonight", when he had a deck with a winning record. That always caused me to chuckle, imagining a couple of miniature Seths waiting anxiously for daddy to finish his games of magic. Please Seth PBKASO, could you bring that back once in a while?
He still does on occasion when playing on MTGO. Which makes sense because that phrase was always about the league rewards, which isn’t a thing on Arena since he just plays on the ladder
Why the hell is he saying “oh bonnet” or something like that every 10 seconds. Is he alright ? Like does he have tourette's syndrome or something ? It is extremely annoying
@@gustavowadaslopes2479 I mean it was pretty common in modern, mostly due to Wrenn & Six needing tons of fetchables and the potential synergy with Omnath as a huge payoff. They got *some* yorion value (and way more when the Evoke Elementals became a thing), but the deck really just didn't function well on 60 cards. Post-Yorion you see people try the deck on 60 cards and you see how clunky the package becomes.
Yeah, I have a Yorion commander deck and that's definitely something I do often :p Save my own stuff from a board wipe and destroy everything else. My guess is that Seth didn't consider it cause he said in the intro that Yorion is only there to basically fill up space, not to do anything in concrete 😂
That first game, I was really hoping u saw the line where u could have used Yorion to blink out your board and save it from the farewell. Great video as always, though. Love to see u play
There has been a run of them lately, but I've got a bunch of Foundations brews I want to try, so I imagine we'll be on an infamous small Japanese tournament break for a while.
Cut//Ribbons has always been one of my favorites. Cut is the kind of burn removal that I use in my decks, because it goes great with swords or other things that are not so restrictive. It's in most of my commander decks with R/B because of Ribbons
I was running a marionnette master treasure ribbons deck for a while. Make a bunch of treasures then saw them with master to burn out the opponent. Ribbon is a great backup wincon/reach with Goldspan. Marionnette apprentice might be interesting to revisit the deck
28:31 Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but wouldn’t the better line be to confluence out some of the creature land caves? The opponent is applying no pressure, so it’s not like Seth needs to win the game next turn, and it powers up the ribbons such that only one land needs to connect to put the opponent into lethal range. I just feel like it would achieve the same result as confluencing for counters without putting the board at risk from sorcery speed removal/sweepers. Edit: Of course, the end result was a great game of magic, so no harm no foul.
Seth, please please please please make the mono-blue turns deck. As a Crim level blue mage, it would be cry little U mana symbols for joy to watch you make and pilot that deck and then follow suit in your footsteps. Please Seth, there might always be RDW but mono-blue decks are far and fee between.
My concept of a budget deck is buying 4 booster packs, then pulling out all the uncommons and rares. Those are put up for sale to help recomp on my expenses. The remaining commons are accompanied by up to 20 basic lands.
I think it's not just, you need 80 cards for more space to fit both lands and good cards. It's also that so many of these good cards, you need to see 1, but you don't really need or even want to see more than 1, you'd rather see something else. Spelunking, for example. Companion had it's problems for sure, but Yorion encouraging players to look at the maths of deckbuilding differently is overall a great positive for the game.
1:12:55 Seth not being able to pay for No More Lies 2 turns in a row because he first activated the Maw and then didn’t play a land (Captivating Cave) hurts so much
Cool deck! I've been playing the Jump In! mode since I'm coming back after a long hiatus and the two packs i picked were dinosaurs and caves which works well and made me want to explore caves in standard... maybe next video!?
Just something to consider Seth. If you are playing x3 spelunkings in a 60 card deck, then 1 in 20 of your cards is a spelunking. If you go up to 80 cards, so that you can play x4 spelunkings, now you can 4 in 80, which is still 1 in 20. This is true with ever 4-of in the deck. If you ignore the value of Yorion, there is almost no reason to play 80 cards. All you are really saying is that no card in my deck would benefit from having a higher ratio than 1 in 20, which is obviously not true. I'm not saying your version of the deck isn't superior, nor that you built it wrong, but I believe your reasoning is flawed. This argument, for greater than 60 card decks, is as old as Magic and has almost never been mathematically correct.
No, but the majority of cards that are in pioneer are also in arena (like 98% I think). Pioneer masters should make the differences even smaller if not make it the same whenever it comes out.
I don’t get people that say scry is bad compared to surveil if you don’t have graveyard stuff it’s better especially if you can shuffle it’s not 100% better that you should always play a surveil lane over scry it depends on the deck this whole surveil trend is crazy people will realize scry lands are really good too and go back up in price I bought a bunch of them for cheap I bought a bunch of surveil lands do when they first came out too and kept at least 3 play sets of each with 1 foil set. I traded a foil set of shadowy backstreets to a guy that wanted them bad at a fmn I got a play set of Clearwater pathways borderless, a play set of hengegate pathways borderless a watery grave and a foil fell the profane, 2 sink into stupor and 2 extended art fountainports
Imho it is pretty silly to put Yorion in just to justify 80 cards. Putting it in to do etb things makes a lot more sense. If you want to play a larger deck, do it and skip the nonbos.

Love how Seth basically said “yorions in the deck so people don’t laugh at your deck size”
First time I've seen a deck build itself with above conventional decksize to work properly by itself.
That is the real reason lol.

Scavenger Ground is in your deck because you searched for "cave" and it contains the word cave lol
Im crying, you are probably right lmao
Lol, yeah. It showed up on my Arena search for Cave and I didn't double check the type. Oops. I caught it half way through and removed it.

Do y'all understand how often I am watching these videos on my computer and try to use my own mouse to read cards like I'm the one playing
Omg same
Gigabrain faerie gaming made my evening.
Spends 3 fatal pushes on bat colony
Scoops the match
Refuses to elaborate
You calling out your opponent for playing a cave while you play a dessert in your manabase 😂
13:44 I think it was correct to play Yorian to slow flicker your nonlands then cast Farewell

There was also the line to use farewell first then go oin with manlands for the win.
Zacama is 9 mana so blue sun’s twilight would need 11 mana, and they weren’t anywhere close to being able to gain control of it
Thank you, I was sitting here puzzled.
I know i was screaming at my phone !! Saying pllllllaaaayyy it Seth... reading the card explains the card !! 😂
You are very ententaining to watch Seth! Your passion for a great match of magic is contagious!
Thanks!
3 fatal pushes on 3 bat tokens is a *crazy* line
An hour of listening to Seth say “excape” hahaha love you Seth!
"Cosium" for an hour 🤦♀️
I'm convinced that Seth is just going to build his decks from small Japanese tournaments from now on lol
Back how it should be
We can only hope
There has been a run of them lately, but I've got a bunch of Foundations brews I want to try, so I imagine we'll be on an infamous small Japanese tournament break for a while.
this is such a fun vid seth i usually only watch half and fall asleep. im finishing the second half of this one lol.

In a non budget version of this deck, a boseiju or two would go a long way
Opponent tapped out: 'Hey, let's get in with our manlands!'
Opponent ten open mana: 'So NOW we try resolving Genesis Ultimatum!'

Pretty sure they just banned Divide by Zero because some math nerd was like, "We have to ban it! You can't divide by zero!"
My concept of a budget deck is buying 4 booster packs, then pulling out all the uncommons and rares. Those are put up for sale to help recomp on my expenses. The remaining commons are accompanied by up to 20 basic lands.
That mono blue turns deck seems sweet. I hope you make it into a video soon.
Luckily, I have basically all these cards cuz of all the other Gruul (whether moist or white too) landfall decks this series has built before lol
Cosmium Confluence creating a hasty 9/9 for 5 (6 if you count the land it activates) is nuts. Didn't realize how broken that card was.
