Least busy would be on a weekday. At the moment it only opens weekends except for school holidays, but it will be opening 7 days per week again come the spring. Please could I ask you to subscribe to the channel? Thanks
Great video Terry. Not much to do when they are open only on the weekends but with less people I get more photographs for my slideshows. Was there on the Saturday (03-02-2024) very cold and windy. Just went to concentrate on the farms and have a quick drink at the Sun Inn.👍
Thank you for the tour! It is always worth a visit to Beamish. Actually, I think I would prefer the off-season because it is less crowded and I would be able to have a good snoop!
Actually I do know of a place where lots of people miss out and if you go to 5:48 you will be able to see it in the distance and that is the whim gin which is basically a horse powered mine lift, you might see the steam one in the pit village however the whim gin was before steam and was horse powered. To get to it go through pockerley village go past the church etc all the way to the bottom, left takes you to pockerley mansion, right takes you to the whim gin and from the whim gin you can continue walking the path which takes you the trains and also don't forget to look for the (gibbet) which is like the hangman's gallows and it's located even further up than the whim gin but you can't access it but you can see it, actually if you look close enough at 5:48 on the right fat back you can see it in the distance.
The cottage is empty because the roof leaks. Something to do with not being able to do it the traditional way because of green rules. For some reason they started operating the sweet shop so that you have to queue outside until a cashier is available, there doesn't seem to be a way of going through just to have a look. Beamish is a great place and highly recommended but it does have some irritating quirks these days - another is always running slightly less busses and trams than are actually needed regardless of how quiet or busy it is.
Absolutely love Beamish Museum. We always buy a yearly pass so we can visit as many times as we like in the year. Looking for forward to the cinema being completed 😊
Theres actually a story to go with the cottage and the posters. The posters explain how a gentleman was murdered and the contents of his house and possesions are being auctioned. He lived and was murdered in that cottage!
Absolutely love going to Beamish, i was there yesterday.
