    The best money I ever spent on my tractor was a hydraulic top link. It’s very useful especially using the rake. From the seat I can change the length of the top link and change the way the rake grabs material. Then when spreading top soil the hydro top link helps to smooth the soil much better than a fixed link.
    It would very much help you w the pulverizer especially if you just wanted the wheel to work. You’d just adjust the link until only the wheel was on the ground then move it back to level.
    Just a thought

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  5 років тому

      Hello Shawn, I'd really like to have that feature. Would I add an extra set of hydraulic connections?

    • @Shawn-rq4py
      @Shawn-rq4py 5 років тому

      Bill Burkhart yes if you don’t already have them. You’ll need the “3rd hydraulic Selective Control Valve (SCV)”. It’ll be an extra lift arm close by the Rock shaft Control Lever (the main arm to lift implements). However if you don’t it’s not hard at all to add them. I added my backhoe attachment, power beyond kit for my backhoe as well as a hydraulic oil cooler w radiator. The parts are pricey but even more expensive if the dealer does it.
      But if you’re mechanically inclined at all you can install it In a few hours. I’m disabled and installed mine over the course of a week. But I could only work about 30 mins at a time. If you’re close with your dealer they can walk you through it I’m sure if the instructions aren’t satisfactory.
      As for me it has been absolutely invaluable. The hydro top link coupled w a quick hitch i only have to get off the tractor if I’m installing an implement that requires the pto engaged otherwise I back up to it pick it up and go. Here’s a link to a picture where the 3rd SCV should be on your 1025 www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=NYMGYz0U&id=7F14449CBFD6E9E82CD257D04D94141F17001FEB&thid=OIP.NYMGYz0U7nKNd5A8YxRv4wHaHa&mediaurl=http%3A%2F%2Fsalesmanual.deere.com%2Fsales%2Fsalesmanual%2Fimages%2FNA%2Ftractors%2Ffeatures_attachment%2F1023e_1026r_cuts%2Fr4b000747_scv_lock_1023e.jpg&exph=275&expw=275&q=3rd+scv+for+john+deere+1025r&simid=608043500933742971&selectedindex=36&vt=1&eim=3,4,2,1,6.

    Hey, happy Saturday, if you have that valve adjust, between your feet on the floor, turn left or right, to adjust the rise and drop of the 3 point hitch, I've got a 1026 r, don't know if 1025 have it, if so, adjust to your liking,

    • @jacobgilmour8136

      That knob only adjust drop speed. there is an adjustment on lift height but its under the plastic to the right of the seat. but you have to be careful not to set it to high where it dead heads the hydraulics. You can also rotate around the 3 pt arms. The hole isn't centered and will give extra 3 inches of lift.

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  3 роки тому +1

      Good morning Jonathan, you’re correct that roller has a couple dozen spikes that break up the ground, set the seed and provide a very nice level spot. The shanks on the pulverizer will tear the ground up a head of the rolling spikes to help get the terrain you want. I’ve use these for putting in entirely new yards, and make spot repairs and existing yards, I find it to be a very valuable tool. Thanks for taking time to come and have a great weekend

    • @Shawn-rq4py
      @Shawn-rq4py 5 років тому

      That’s the way I do my seeding. I have a 500# seed spreader for my tractor and When I plant anything I’ll put 1 bag of seed to 1 bag of fertilizer. Mix it all in and it spreads the seed and fertilizer perfectly and it grows very fast. Not to mention it takes half the time because it’s spread only once.
      One year my friend planted for me and he spread the seed then spread the fertilizer and I could tell a huge difference in growth.
      When I spread it all together I get growth within the first week. Then It’s very thick. When it was spread separately there was no growth until the 3rd week , almost a month.
      So give it a try. I’m sure your results will be the same.

    Doesn't the pulverizer work like a box blade, the more it's tipped back the less aggressive it is.

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  7 років тому

      Hello, I can tell you the pulverizer does a very good job of loosening, pulverizing , and leveling packed and encrusted soils in preparation for seeding. I believe the box blade design doesn't pulverize or break down hard dirt as well, leaving the ground much rougher than the pulverizer.

      @Bill Burkhart thank you for your reply Bill.
      We are in Green Bay, and in process of buying a house in the country with hilly land, and a long driveway.
      I just ordered a new 1025R, snow blower, belly mower, box blade, loader & bucket, iMatch, weights, with a few more things still needed such as forks, 3-point weight bar, soft cab, hooks for the bucket, ........... and a lot to learn. That last one should have been the first one. :-)
      I’ll try to not ask questions that are too basic, like how do you know how far to put the spikes down on the box blade? Or, when washing the tractor, under the hood or anyplace else, what can I not spray with a garden hose or pressure sprayer? Or, should I really follow the John Deere 500 hour cycle for the front axel fluid which seems way too long? See, lots to learn.
      PS: My family came from Lost Nation Iowa, but moved to North East Wisconsin before I was born.

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  3 роки тому +1

      @@DougAlesUSA Doug, your land sounds very familiar I have 17 acres here and very few level spots. As far as the box blade goes, start out with no scarifiers down take a pass, then lower your scarifiers one notch at a time , take another pass and see what your results are. Keep doing this until you find that sweet spot with your box blade.
      Regarding the fluid changes, I change all my fluids by calendar and not hours. You’ll have to take into consideration how you are using your machine to determine how many months you’re comfortable going without a change. I recently changed all my filters and then re-topped off the fluids because I only had 100 hours on the fluid , but after one year, I wanted to change the filters.
      Regarding washing under the hood, I never wash the engine I regularly blow it off with an air compressor and hand wipe wipe What I care to wipe off.
      I hope this answers some of your questions reach out to me anytime good luck with your new tractor, remember if the short hairs stand up on the back your neck you may want to reconsider what you’re doing, as stupid as that sounds Ive changed my plans after experiencing that several times. Stay healthy and we’ll.

      Does your Deere have a 3 Pt lever to regulate the drop rate, other than the hydraulic fluid control knob below operator's seat? I went through a lot of grief with my rotary cutter on my Massey 1710 before I could raise/lower without it being too fast or too slow or too "jerky" in movement. Looking forward to your next videos.

    You mentioned you were playing with the weight on the machine. You do not actually have positive down pressure on this tractor, only some type of draft control. Very few large tractors even have positive cycinder down-pressure. You may consider using a hydro cylinder top link, you could then adjust the angle on the fly. Absolutly fantastic lawn rehab job!!!

    He says 675 lbs is all he wants to put on the machine. Well I received a safety notice on my 1025 r that says do not use the tractor with the 120 loader without wheel weights, liquid in the tires and 875 lbs on the rear hitch. I say again 875 lbs on the rear hitch. This means to meet the manual change you should not use the loader without the required ballast which this equipment does not meet. I’m seeing a lawyer for this was not addressed until after receiving the tractor. Check out John Deere safety notices on a goggle search. Their fix is to just change the operators manual."#&*+.

      The reason to have ballast on the rear is for safety and it takes a lot of stress off the front axle and components .

    • @TDC_Dragon
      @TDC_Dragon 5 років тому

      The backhoe is the heaviest implement and weighs about 675. I use the loader all the time with ballasted tires and lighter implements such as a box blade. Some of those notices are for those who have no common sense and do not think about the weight of material being manipulated with the loader.

    • @Genjokoan
      @Genjokoan 5 років тому +1

      You probably received that safety notice because some ignorant git did not have any tractor knowledge, did something stupid, blamed it on the tractor and hired a lawyer to try to bully John Deere. So Deere's lawyers did what lawyers do. The end result was to raise the price of the tractor to pay for the lawyer's work. You are certainly within your rights to spend money on a lawyer, but IMO your complaint is pretty lame. You could have researched all of this before buying a tractor. Deere has manuals online. So go ahead, spend money on a lawyer so everyone else going forward gets to pay more for their tractor. Or maybe not, man up and be more responsible in your consumerism.

      @@markproulx1472 Hi Mark, I'm near Dubuque. Easter Iowa is a nice part of the country to live.

      That's a pretty area. I used to drive around NE Iowa. Liked Backbone State Park, Decorah, and McGregor.

      Hello Rob, I've been told that before, I do have a larger project coming up this fall that will allow the machine to get up to speed and allow the roller to roll faster. Thanks for the comment.

      what i mean is the roller is not driven by the pto or hydraulics. Harley rake or power rake is the best way but they come with a Price

    Bill what would you say is the best attachment you have used to prep soil for grass seeding.

    • @billburkhart

      Hello Steven, that's a great question I've never been asked..............I've given this a lot of thought and will tell you if I could only have one implement..........and I'm not saying this should be for everyone.........it would be the soil pulverizer. It rips up hard packed soils but doesn't make it as fine as a tiller, the scarifiers go down about 4-6" plenty deep for new seed, rolls out a nice smooth bedding for seed, and it can strike rocks without damaging it. Now keep in mind it depends what kind of soil you have and where you live. The landscape rake and tiller have also been used by me to plant new seed. Keep in mind I really enjoy planting new yards and if I can only take one implement, the pulverizer meets my expectations. Stay Healthy! , Have a great Spring
