Bill, I did a job just like that this past summer. I used my TR3 Rake and backed up the pile to pull down from the top and did that operation in different directions. Bill after watching a lot of videos I decided to pull the trigger on a soil pulverizer. I had high hopes but still very weary if it would work well in our soil conditions here in Indiana where we have a lot of moisture. Well as your videos show this is probably one of the best investments I have made toward the the tractor. It is unbelievable how productive of a tool it really is and takes a lot of the manual parts out of preparing a seed bed. I do hauling and grading on the side and I think I’ll actually be putting my land plane up for sale. This thing also leaves an unbelievable finish on gravel and really mixes materials well. Retired 75, in process of moving from 60" to 72", 4 cylinder kubota L4701. Tractor still at dealers adding canopy, LED lights, tip/tilt, third function and Quick Hitch QH15. Did not want back hoe, went with mini excavator Kubota K008-3. Enjoy your video. EDIT: Got lots of hobbies, one I like is making compost. Live in area houses have acre lots, so neighbors bring over leaves and cut grass. I add manure and my time, $25 a yard works for me, load trucks and trailers all year long. Have metal shop with some CNC. Had Everything Attachment deliver 72" scrap grapple to dealer, then I added Land Pride HR2572 it will all be delivered when dealer gets done.
Hi Vern, guessing you live in Arizona? Compost is hard to find out here in Eastern Iowa wish I had a source like yours. It sure sounds like you have a very nice set up with your shop and tractors. Congratulations on your achievements.
@@billburkhart Bought to many machines, recent arrival is fabrication roll around welding table. Just completed small addition and jammed a new Kubota K008-3 excavator in the new space, I'm out of room again. Just had some rain so, running tractor around creating mud pies every where is not helping.
Great video. I find I like to make a good (1 bucket) windrow at the furthest end, then backblading with the bucket to set the height, and where it gets thin ill start a new windrow there. It makes a fairly even spread of topsoil quite quickly, the final leveling is very fast. Have you tried this way before?
@@vidman05 Hello Vidman, yes, the straw mat had a nylon mesh. And yes it's still getting caught in my aerator every fall. Don't believe anyone who tells you that stuff rots away. Good question. -Bill
Would love to compare this to tilling and then leveling out with a drag and then compare that to a Harley rake. Which way is faster and gives a better end result?
Hi Pete, I've never used a Harley rake, too expensive for me and I don't care for the way it can throw a rock or something similar. I'm such a fan of the pulverizer because its 3 tools in one. The scarifiers break up hard ground and the roller breaks it down further without going too deep. The H beam allows the operator to contour the ground where its needed. Finally the roller can be driver over the seed bed to set the seed into the soil. I'll keep this question in mind when I do a small seeding project this fall and compare it to a tiller. Good question. -Bill
@@billburkhart Do you spread seed and then go over it with this to get good soil contact? If so how does it work or does the grass come up even? I'm always looking for a better way. Right now I till, then go over it with my 3 point homemade drag, then I roll it with a cultipacker, spread seed and then cultipack again. It works but I always end up with a few bare spots.
@petebusch9069 Pete, as long as your setting the seed with culipacker, your good to go. Your process is good. Using the pulverized, I get by soil prepped then spread seed, and then I tilt the pulverizer way back, so only the rollers are running on the seed, so it gets into the soil. basically, we’re doing the same thing. My experience has been getting good growth doing it my way and I’m sure you will also. Enjoy your weekend .Bill
I just subscribed to your channel. I have been watching your videos for a while but this one caught my eye pretty good. The reason I say that is I purchased a 2032 last year. The exact same tractor but a little less HP. Also a little difference in price. Lol! The only reason I didn’t buy the 2038 was budget. I traded a 2210 I bought in 04 in on it. I love mine. I got the 60 inch belly more, and loader with mine. I already had a 60” disc harrow, Bush hog, and 60” tiller. I could not justify the backhoe no more than I would use it and besides my neighbor already has one. Looking forward to seeing what kind of jobs you come up with for the 2038! From Helena, Alabama, y’all have a good-un!
Hello Richard, thanks for subscribing, I appreciate it! I looked at the 2038 too and struggled when making the decision to go with the 2038, I figure this is my last tractor, so I purchased as much as the budget would allow. Sounds like you have a nice set up with your tractor, enjoy it, be careful and have a great spring.
nice job on the video, really enjoy the way you explain all the details. Bill, do you have a video on your john deere tracor choice? Wondering how you chose JD ober Kubota? I always wonder which is better, which has more bang for the buck? they are expensive..
Hello James, I agree that the green paint is expensive........I'm in my 60's and have used many Kubota's. My decsion was made on how close my dealer is to my home, John Deere has a plant in my town, I liked the finer features Deer's has over other brands, and I liked their reputation. Now in my 60s, I was able to make the decision less on money and more on what I wanted. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your comments on the details I speak about. Those comments keep me going. Stay well James.

Another great video Bill! I bought a 3pt quick hitch about a month after I got my L3901DT. I have a Land Pride box blade that is quick hitch compatible and is a real pane to hook to the 3pt without a quick hitch. Makes changing attachment a lot easier. The Soil Pulverizer looks like it does a great job breaking the soil up. I wonder how it would work after using a tiller on the ground first?
Hi MD H, I've done a few yards now and had thoughts of bringing my tiller along but always choose the pulverizer because of it's speed. If I have room on my trailer next spring I may try that as I have 2 yards to grade and seed this spring. Thanks for taking time to write. - Bill
Hi Bill, again, Nice Video, glad to see the 2038 in action, I knew you would like that IMatch , that makes things so much easier. Just an FYI, Everything Attachments makes great stuff, that's all I buy, the only thing I would suggest to really make you love life is to add a hydraulic top link, that will blow your mind in conjunction with that awesome IMatch, I love mine, but I see you don't have the duel rear SCV's, if you haven't seen my video when I added mine, check it out to see if it might be something that might be of use to you. I bought a garden bedder from EA and plan to expand the sweet corn patch this year so I'll try to get some one to film it and upload how it went, have a nice day.
Hello Ty, good to hear from you again! Thanks for the corn update, I lost track of your progress last year and was wondering. The I Match adds so much efficiency and convenience I wouldn't be without one now. You were correct recommending it. I've watched your video on the SCV several times and I'm interested in adding it after your comments today. My dealer doesn't seem to want to do add ons after the sale, so I may need to find another dealer to do that work. If you make a video using the hydraulic top link in use, let me know. I was thinking of you last year, I hope you'r not close to all the fires I see on the news.
Hi Bill, sorry about not any updates on Corn Patch, was really bummed on turn out, really great corn "bushes" but didn't get fully pollenated ears because of no room for pollen to get to silks so this year more space between rows and different seed company and a lot of "praying" !!!! We are about 3 hours from the fires so we didn't have problems but our church has a high member count there and those poor people lost everything, I am going to do video on top link soon, keep the great videos coming, enjoy them a lot.
Hey Bill, this is one of my favorites! You shared great info throughout and I love the peaceful nature of this one too. So the 1025 is the smallest tractor? I always here people talking about 1025....
Aaron, yes, the 1025 is known as a one-series tractor; mine is a two-series tractor. The last two digits are the horsepower of the tractor. One reason I traded up was that the 1025's lifting capabilities were always marginal, so I moved up to the next-size tractor. Now, I can lift many more implements and achieve more of what I’m trying to do, and it still won't tear up your yard when you drive across it. enjoy your Labor Day. -Bill
Aaron, I wanted to add that you can purchase dirt and gravel by the pound. For example, when I use my small dump trailer to get a load of dirt, I pay by the pound or the ton. I was thinking along the lines of commercial work when I was talking about a cubic yard price. -Bill
Here is another question.... I heard you mentioned before you have tractor dealer you work with for equipment. How does that work? Do they service your equipment, what is your inventory?
Glad I found your channel. It's good to see an Iowa UA-camr who's as passionate about these tractors / attachments as I am. After seeing this video, I'm going to search your channel for one covering your aerator. Where to you typically shop for attacments? (I'm in the CR area)
Welcome aboard Fourevers! I appreciate you subscribing. Ya know I find most of my implements when I walk my dealers lot on Sundays when the weather is nice, no one is around and I can take my time. He's pretty smart though, because he lets me take the used implements home for a test drive and I can't recall every taking them back.......I use the internet to compare prices and get ideas for other attachments that don't even know I need............. The aerator was purchased from a conversation on Facebook, a private owner in Indiana. That video is forthcoming. I try and put out a video every 3-4 weeks. Have a great Spring, the warmer weather is going to make staying home more difficult Stay safe and healthy.
Great vid Bill! Even more to think about based on our other chat as it seems like a power rake would've worked here as would a box blade but it wouldn't have pulverized. Would've been nice to use the land topper to put some compost down. Turned out great though!

I’m in the market for a tractor I have 2.75 acres of land to maintain with horses and a few other animals it will be for my own person use not for doing jobs for other people. I also have quite a bit of landscaping and leveling to do. What would you suggest 25 or 38? Or how about the economical 1023e? I don’t want to over spend but I also don’t want to get something that isn’t going to work
Max Sanchez Hello Max, the 1025 will do anything you throw at it, I have the videos to backup that comment. However, being a man and buying boats before, avoid the cost of trading up......purchase as much tractor as you can afford, but the 1025 won’t let you down. Let me know what you purchase.
i just saw this video & saw you used an aerator with the 2038r towards the end ... im wondering if you have a video using it more with this tractor?? whats the product name for the aerator??
Hi Paul, I purchased the aerator used but know it's made by Everything Attachments. The ground is so very hard this year from the lack of rain, I don't expect to plug the yard this fall. Stay well friend.
Hello Bill, I purchased that implement used from a friend in Indiana after asking a Facebook Group if anyone had an aerator for sale. It's made by Everything Attachments and they call it a Southern Lawn Plugger. I'll have a review coming out soon on that piece. Thanks for asking Bill Have a good February.
@@aaronburford5701 Good morning Aaron, good question. You pay for dirt or stone by the cubic yard plus a trucking charge. For example, the rip rap I purchased in the other video was $175 for the stone and $150 for trucking, so $325 a load. Dump trucks are referred to as single-axle or tandem-axle loads. Of course, a tandem axle load will hold more weight. You’ll hear me mention that I bought a tandem load of rock, meaning a larger amount of weight can be hauled.

Thank you Patrick, appreciate you taking time to comment.
Next time try the landscaper rake and pulverizer. Nice job Bill
I have another yard to do this spring, I'll consider your suggestion. Thanks for taking time to comment. - Bill
Thanks for sharing
Nice job bill, if you ever get a chance and are gonna get more into this work, try out a harley rake, they make really quick, beautiful work of this... also i dont mind longer videos...
Another excellent video. Could you have used your Land Pride grading scraper to move and level the new soil?
Hello Mickey, yes...you are absolutely correct. This location was about :40 minutes from my home so I used what I brought.....and could fit on the trailer. But, going back for the rear grader crossed my mine too. Good catch. Thanks for checking in- Bill
Hi, the I Match doesn't need the leavers up when connecting to an implement only to disconnect, unless you mess up.
Hello , You are absolutely correct, thank you for mentioning that. Have a warm week.
Hi Fire Pants Fab, I have not tried that but I sure will next time I'm out. Thanks for the tip. Stay healthy and thanks for taking time to comment.
Those ramps on the trailer looked like they was hating it!
Did the straw mat your buddy rolled out have mesh in it? If so did mesh get into your aerator?
Besides you, any other recommendations!
Aaron thats a tricky question. UA-cam creators are just average people and some you like and others, well not so much. I I know very quickly if I’m gonna like the personality of the creator, I’m sure you do too. -Bill
Looking at buying one of these. But you need to put bushings on the pins so they are not sloppy in the quick hitch
Happy Sunday MMM. You are spot on! I learned that the hard way when I was using the disc plow and it came off...........now I'm adding them to the implements when I purchase them. Great point, I'll share that with others.
Thanks for checking in, - Bill
Bill Burkhart i lost my tiller testing it. What a mess that was
Mini Massey Maniac. HolyCow bet that’s a good story....
Bill Burkhart not really lol it bounced off the hitch on one side and pulled the shaft apart. Not as good as when i was clearing brush and a tree pulled the clip out of the pin on my loader and the pin for pulled out so the loader was only mounted on one side lol
@@midcoasttractorservice9182 We'll you'll appreciate seeing video 111 when it comes out and you'll watch as the disc plow "bounces" out of the I match.
-Bill
@@billburkhart Great answer again! Love it!
Aaron, I wanted to add that you can purchase dirt and gravel by the pound. For example, when I use my small dump trailer to get a load of dirt, I pay by the pound or the ton. I was thinking along the lines of commercial work when I was talking about a cubic yard price. -Bill
@@billburkhart great, was always curious about how that works from a billing standpointm

Thank you Al.Fer1234 appreciate the kind review -Bill
I bought a 2025R with the 3072 frontier cutter do you think it’s too much for my tractor?
Great vid Bill! Even more to think about based on our other chat as it seems like a power rake would've worked here as would a box blade but it wouldn't have pulverized.
Would've been nice to use the land topper to put some compost down. Turned out great though!
A project like this, do you suppose if you would have used a landscape rake to help distribute the dirt would have helped or not so much???
Hello Justin, That sure would have worked, looking back I could have made the spreading task a little easier. Thanks for commenting!
Is that a new holland tractor with a loader and pulverizer parked there at 4:01? Did you guys have 2 rigs going?
Hi Danielle, Happy Sunday. Yes he rented the New Holland but didn't use it more than an hour. I don't why, but everything you saw in the video was from the 2038.
Thanks for asking the question and taking time to comment.
Hello how does the tractor manuever ? Compared to the 1025r , is it handy ?? So to speak
Happy Sunday Fralin 1966, the 2038 requires a little more room to do a 180 degree turn, but nothing that has caused me to regret moving up to the 2038R. I'll be posting a video this spring comparing the 1025 and the 2038 after owning both for a year.
Thanks for taking time to comment - Bill

We looked at a smaller tractor like that it just wasnt able to handle a brush hog the size we use seems like a nice tractor though
Jill- what size tractor did you purchase?
@@billburkhart ford 4600
Jill Corcoran Congratulations on your choice
One problem we get with a larger machine is it sinks on soft areas
Jill, you'r correct. I notice the 1025 can go across my wet yard and leave less tracks than the 2038. Great point.
Bill Burkhart thanks I’ll let you know what I go with
i just saw this video & saw you used an aerator with the 2038r towards the end ... im wondering if you have a video using it more with this tractor?? whats the product name for the aerator??
Hi Paul, I purchased the aerator used but know it's made by Everything Attachments. The ground is so very hard this year from the lack of rain, I don't expect to plug the yard this fall. Stay well friend.
Thanks Bill!! Imagine overhere in deep South Tx! Soil is hard n its dry most of the time even after we get rain if we are lucky ...

Larry, the straw mats are readily available here in the Midwest. I see Tractor Supply offers them on line and will ship. Good luck with your project.
What type of aerator is that?
Hello Bill, I purchased that implement used from a friend in Indiana after asking a Facebook Group if anyone had an aerator for sale. It's made by Everything Attachments and they call it a Southern Lawn Plugger. I'll have a review coming out soon on that piece.
Thanks for asking Bill Have a good February.
When you get dirt dropped off, how is it charged?
@@aaronburford5701 Good morning Aaron, good question. You pay for dirt or stone by the cubic yard plus a trucking charge. For example, the rip rap I purchased in the other video was $175 for the stone and $150 for trucking, so $325 a load. Dump trucks are referred to as single-axle or tandem-axle loads. Of course, a tandem axle load will hold more weight. You’ll hear me mention that I bought a tandem load of rock, meaning a larger amount of weight can be hauled.
