I have EZ and Wheel Woolies. I got the full set of WW at WaxStock 2017 and they are still going strong. I use the smallest of the set for engine bay cleaning (like you mentioned, there is little other use for it!) :)
Excellent comparison Paul & good points about each. I think a big part of which is better comes down to alloy design. For me the whoolies are better & I have no issues cleaning between the spokes, behind them or the barrels of the alloys I clean. If you have tighter design alloys though I can see the EZ being the better option. Only thing I'd say is worth highlighting is the EZ won't last as long as the whoolies & they definitely do inflict more scratches/marring, especially on gloss black alloys. They will dull the finish over time. I also dislike the splash back from the EZ, that is a big reason why I prefer the Whoolies over the EZ.
Brian Woods superb points Brian I should have point out the splash back problem my top tip for that is use a wheel shampoo or just shampoo to coat the brushes that limits wet paints syndrome and possibly over time the dull effect could be marring from a combination of brake dust and the EZs
@@PaulDoldenDetails 100% agree. Another little tip for uncoated alloys... pre treat them like you would the paint with a 1:5 mix of APC/alkaline wheel cleaner & pressure rinse. Will remove a lot more dirt after the initial pressure washer rinse & help reduce scratching with the EZ/Whoolies. For any gloss finish alloys without a coating I always clean this way 👍 Keep the good vids coming Paul 👌
I think wheel woolies clean really well. I personally use EZ brushes because they fit better in my wheels and they clean really well arches. However, I dislike the EZ brushes splatter... I think both have their place. I would use wheel woolies for more delicate wheels or gloss black wheels. They seem a safer option.
My issue with wheel woolies/microfiber style brushes is that dirt and debris tend to get stuck in them much easier and can lead to some heavy scratching
Good review Paul. I started out with the big EZ brush - a great bit of kit apart from the product splatter, the rubber tip going AWOL and the handle eventually breaking. I'm on my 3rd one in 9 years. 😃 Bought a set of Wheel Woolies this year and like them but the EZ still gets in the tight spots better.
Been using the EZ brushes for years now and I swear by them, my sports car is lowered and I find that the big EZ brush fits in nicely under the arches being that It's so flexible and has soft bristles.
I have the full set of both and have had for quite a few years. I tend to go for the E-Z more than I do the Wollies which I suppose shows my preference. Either do a greater job though. One thing, I’ve never used the med and small woolie.
I have both the EZ Detail brush and the Wheel Woolies. The Wheel Woolies are great and definitely softer but I find that they are too large to fit behind the brake disc on most cars. The EZ Detail brushes don't have the same problem and you can get to the back of the wheel much easier.
Great vid Paul, I was disappointed with the woolies as I couldn’t get between the barrel and calliper, always swapping to the different sizes and not as flexible nor the coverage of the EZ, I’ve had the medium size one for years, brilliant piece of detailing kit.
Great content Paul,I used to use some wheel woolies but they were not as good as these on the video, the wool came off when doing the wheel, then I bought the large EZ brush and found it alot better, now I've got the set.
EZ large brush all the way. Used with Garage Therapy wheel cleaner and a brush pre-sprayed with APC and it foams up just nice. When all wheels are done I tend to use what's left in the bucket and go round all the arches with the dreaded sponge as i find i can get around most of the wheel arch by hand without the need for the bog brush. Great vid and informative as always.
I’ve got both EZ and the wheel Woolie . Wheel woolie all day long for me . The EZ was leaving very fine scratches on my diamond cut / black gloss wheels . The Wheel woolie doesn’t No splash back with wheel woolie and the two sizes I have fit my wheels perfectly .
This is the exact thing i invision happening to me, i got the incredibrush from slims (i think) and its awesome, not cheap but i feel will last years 👍🏼
low flying pigeon Yes the incredibrush looks like a great wheel brush nice and soft holds loads of suds and won’t scratch like the nylon bristles of the EZ. I use the EZ brush on the wife’s car now while my car receives 5 star treatment 😂! I also use a small cut in half wash mitt to reach behind the wheel spokes .
UpdatinStatus Yes I think so. It’s a soft absorbent type of microfibre material. Holds loads of soap. I have two sizes to fit my wheels and they clean the barrels of my wheels perfectly.
Beau ! Bear much appreciated! Wanted to make sure, going to be using them on polished aluminium wheels and don’t want to mar the finish at all. Thanks again for the reply!
I’ve had the brush 12 months and I should of noticed the wire was poking through I’ve bought some new rubber tips off Amazon to replace it as the brush is still good condition 👍
I use the Long handled (yes there is a long handle option as well) Wheel woolies mainly because my rear wheels are 11" deep and i can get right to the back of the barrel with them, also the mid size woolie is handy for cleaning the barrel where the disk caliper gets close to the wheel..like you though i find the small one not very useful, as a regulalr brush does all the lug nut holes and tricky bits. I wouldn't discount using the EZ brushes though
Hi paul! 👋🏼 being as you do product reviews do you have a video of your “go to” products? Like a layout from start to finish of your wash process down to your interior and lsp? If not you should do one as i think it would be interesting to see being as though you’ve had a lot of stuff come your way! Nice one!
Hi Paul! Actually now I have to restock my tools... Very good video as always ! Thank you Paul! You looked like you were in a sauna not your garage 😛😛😛.
I’m a big fan of the EZ Detail Brushes👌🏻 Haven’t used the Wheel Woolies myself, though. I’d say the EZ ones will be better for wheels that need a bit more of a “bite” to clean them. I like how they can clean behind the spokes nicely, too👍🏻 Wheel Woolies seem to me more for the delicate finishes/wheels (although the EZ ones aren’t tough!) especially if the wheels are ceramic coated. As the material will hold plenty of wheel shampoo for cleaning. Just my thoughts👍🏻
My perfect combo is the regular and mini EZ brush + the spokes wheel woolies (the bent one). I don’t like to bend my EZ, but if you are in a budget, you can easily have and all in one brush with the EZ brush.
Woolies for me i can't help but feel that the EZ brushes could scratch the inside of the spokes, i know they are safe but it's just what i invision, having said that the wheel arch brush looks well worth a look 👍🏼
Hi Paul, great video. I noticed you used a different brush for the tyres but didn’t mention it and the other brushes seem too soft to get the muck out of the tyres. What make is it and where can I get one?

I have a question maybe you or another listener can answer. I have a BMW M6 with big brakes and i have the wheel woolies( like them a lot ) and i have the incredibrush flat ( really like that one ) but neither of them fit between my calipers and barrel of rim….will the ez brushes fit between the caliper and barrel of large brake vehicles so i so not have to roll my car foreword to clean that spot
BMW minis have the same problem I have EZ and wheel woolies neither fit with large calliper brakes the best way is to jack the car up and spin the wheels freely 👍🏻👍🏻
Not good news about the new Nilfisk, I've got the same model but only used it twice so far without incident, doesn't sound promising to be honest and I purchased from the same place as you. Hopefully they didn't get a duff batch
