    Obviously, I'm going to say I love the brushes. It's why we stock them.
    MY POINTS
    The EZ Big and EZ small are super handy for getting into tight areas. The ends can come bare so don't get lazy with the brushes get down and personal with your wheel so that the brush enters in and out no need to push the wheel brush up against the wheel so that the centre shaft runs along the wheel. It's the bristles that do the cleaning.
    Also super handy for front grills etc. on your vehicle.
    They do create a decent amount of sling. So we clean the wheel as we squat to one side of the wheel. this reduces "splat to the face" and it's more your arm that gets covered. One easy hand wash and sorted. 😎👍🔔
    The EZ Go is my "go to" brush (pun intended). As you describe Jon, it's a solid bit of kit. As long as the diameter of the handle can get through your gaps, then it's the safest and strongest brush I have ever used. Using it for arches is also a cracking idea. I'm going to try that when I'm home.
    WHEEL WOOLIES
    For me, the wheel woollies lack bite and also "hold on to" the dirt into their thick pile so I feel this would create more damage than the bristles of the EZ Brushes?
    BUT I do find the Wheel woollies super helpful for removing Tar and iron from the hard to reach areas. The wheels are already clean so no danger of them "holding dirt". The Tar / Iron removers help to break down the deposits so using the "Microfibre on a stick" I feel is a great tool for decontaminating the wheel barrels.
    As Steve mentioned, the 45degree wheel woollies are amazing for the BMW M3 spokes gap between the alloy rears and the wheel barrel.
    OTHER BRUSHES
    The standard No-16 and No-20 brushes are amazing for all of faces and wheel nut cleaning.
    Also as mentioned a wash mitt also does a great job of cleaning wheels whilst keeping your hand safe. It helps to prevent scratches from the brake disk guards which can be quite sharp.
    Thank you so much for this fantastic review, Jon.
    Love the discussion your community creates. 😎👍🔔

      Hearing you call it the E Zed as opposed to the EaZy was pretty 😂. Oh, and I saw the guy from Dallas Paint Correction suggesting that you just use a toilet brush to get into your arches/wheel wells. A cheap tip, as you can often find them here in the states at the dollar store or your equivalent. Have a good one man n thanks for the tips!

      I agree with your point on Wheel Woolies, as well as microfiber madness brushes, holding onto dirt more than these brushes. Auto Fanatic mentioned that if you have glossy black rims you should use Wheel Woolies to reduce scratching, but I disagree with him. Also, for the love of god, if you want scratch free rims you should NEVER buy rims with a glossy black finish lol

    Great brushes. Had both of mine for about 5 years now. Smaller one, the handle snapped a couple years back so i ended up wrapping the broken metal in multiple layers of self-amalgamating tape. I only use the smaller EZ brush for exhaust tips. The larger one of mine the handle's also snapped so I drilled a new hole in the handle on the opposite end and glued the metal back into the handle, then once again wrapped in SA tape. The end "nipple" on the larger brush also started to deteriorate a few years back exposing some metal, so I wrapped the end in SA tape also. Great stuff that tape, rubberised and very strong once its set. Awesome brushes.
    Tip for cleaning them and restoring the shape... soak them in a bucket full of really hot water for 5-10 mins. Works a treat.

    A bit late to comment, just purchased the larger cone shape and the wheel arch brush.
    Well made up with these, blinding addition to my kit.
    Wasable to clean four alloy wheels in 15 mins and perfect. This usually takes for ever and never as clean as they are now.
    Sprayed with the usual Virosol cleaner and the brush did the rest. If you buy this brush (no need for the smaller) it will be money well spent. Trust me, go get these two and you will be as pleased as I am. 10/10. Cheers Jon!!

    Just have to say after watching this review I finally took the plunge to get the large brush ordered after a long time thinking about them and not bothering. All I can say is get one bought it's the best wheel brush I've owned and my wheel woolies don't get a look in now! Makes cleaning my wheels a joy rather than the chore it once was. Thanks Jon!

    Must have had my large and small E-Z (pronounced easy!) for nearly 10 years now and their still going strong. I use the woolies too depending on how I feel as I don't have clearance issues. The only slight downside to the E-Z's over the woolies is the spray back you get. You can get covered in mucky brake dust solution but I just stand to the side to reduce that. Never seen the new E-Z before, may give that a go.👍

    I bought 2 different sizes of these EZ Detail Brushes on your recommendation and they are amazing. They are really well made and Worth every penny. They shift the break dust like no other and definitely glad I got both. They get stored in their own bucket and used every weekend.

    I bought the larger of these brushes in around 2014 and I still use it today. None of the bristles have fallen out or flattened. I can honestly say this is the best wheel brush I have ever used and as proven lasts years even with regular use.

    I have the large brush and I agree, it works so well. I know you say that you worry about it bending but I actually bend mine on purpose to ensure that I get behind the wheel spokes. If this causes metal fatigue from being bent and then straightened I don't think it's the end of the world. This brush costs about the same as 5 cafe coffees, in the grand scheme of things it's nothing.

    My small EZ just broke in half. I use it exactly how Jon was using it in the first shot of brushing wheels. The bristles were still in good nick. The twisted metal core snapped. Will be getting another excellent brush. I’ve got the bigger ridged brush also and after 5 years it looks like it will last forever. Another brilliant review.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому

      Ive just been using mine.. so its 9 months old now. bristles are a bit worn.. but shaft is ok. the thing i will say about this brush is that mild steel metal core isnt ideal.. really if they want to improve it they should use something more robust. the more mild steel bends the more it weakens. Im pretty mindfull of how much pressure I use when i work this in the barrel. sooner or later someone will improve on the design and ditch the mild steel..

    Been using the larger of the two wheel brushes for about 3 years nearly since I actually picked one up from Alan at AMD when my car was in for correction and coatings by him and the team and have used it on various finishes of wheels and can't fault it. It's my go-to wheel brush and wouldn't be without one now! As mentioned I just use a seperated wheel designated wash mitt for the wheel faces and any missed bits between the spokes.
    Only other brush I use is a smaller wheel woolie that's at a 45degree angle which is great for behind spokes or calipers

  • @Dayytona

    Been using the small EZ brush for many years and it is as good as Forensic Detailer says. The protective rubber/plastic bit on the end has now worn through and I can hear it hitting the calipers etc which is a shame as there is plenty of life left in the brush. As long as I'm carefulish though I shouldn't scratch the barrel of the alloy, Having said all that I think the one to go for is the large one as it'll do everything the small one does as said in the video. Great review of these efficient/effective bits of kit.

  • @scamdogbro
    @scamdogbro 7 років тому

    Jon your review was dead on, I use all of these brushes and agree 100% with your remarks. The small brush is better suited for motorcycle or engine bay details but the larger is a must have for a barrel clean. The arch brush (aka the toilet scrubber wand) is a great wheel well brush but needs to be longer. I've had them for a few years and they are holding up nicely, definitely worth the money for the bigger ez detail brush. Thanks for putting this review out there.

    Agree just get large one. Sent the little one back and am on my second large one, even though it rusted through the shaft after a year - I always dried it. Bought a set of wheel woolies and never used them after first try - similar experience to you. EZ large is best wheel brush IMO

    Great video. I use a similar brush that I got half price from Tesco £3.50, think it's Simonize. It looks very similar in construction and is great for doing the barrels. I like the look of that wheel arch brush though, I've not found anything suitable yet so I think I'll get one when I get some more stuff from AM DETAILS. I've been a fan of his channel for a while now, and he really does do some good videos, just like yourself Jon 👍

      The flicking dots are totally the only downfall of these brushes. They were also the only brushes that could get rid of that crazy sticky german brake pad dust on my BMW. I recently tried the wheel woolies on my Honda and they seemed to be more than adequate for the brake dust coming off of that, so I suppose its like anything else there's a time and place for everything

    Hi Jon, I bought the incredimitt wheel brushes (flat one) and have to say it doesn't have a patch on the EZ brushes when it comes to cleaning power and accessibility. I still occasionally worry about 'damage', but I think that is more related to the old / cheap nylon brushes - I've no evidence of any damage and the fact AMD sells them gives me confidence. I've now taken to cleaning the wheel barrels with the incredimitt for the open spokes but using the EZ when it comes to the barrel area by the callipers - the incredimitt just simply doesn't fit (I've the same wheels as you Jon, M135i). I also use a wash mitt for the wheel faces and reach round the back of the spokes with the mitt to clean them (see OG vlogs). As you say in the VLOG the key thing is routinely cleaning the wheels so that ultimately your are removing light brake dust / dirt and have no need to 'work hard'. I am interested in the wheel arch brush and as I've heard good thing about AMD clay I can feel a double order on the horizon! Cheers Kevin.

  • @princeh4032
    @princeh4032 7 років тому

    Fantastic review - again. Me personally have always doubted manufacturers who claim nylon brushes don't scratch. Even with very hard clear coat I'll still choose wheel woolies every time, it's just that these Nylon EZ ones aren't suitable for all jobs, thanks Jon.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  7 років тому +1

      They will on soft-medium clear prolly to a lesser extent on the type of clear you "should" have on alloys, and the nylon on this brush is prolly thiner and softer than most brushes. Worth also considering the area you are cleaning with the EZ brush spends its life getting brake dust fired at it, and removing that abrasive brake dust with any form of contact will over time deteriorate the finish. your barrels are never really going to be flawless clearcoat.. but yes you can choose other formats and some will for this reason, but they also have their disadvantages.. The WW's in terms of access and the incredibrush in terms of perhaps not being agressive enough when scrubbing is required for really dirty alloys.. Its for this reason I think this format of brush would be essential for a professional valeter.. perhaps with other options as well..

    I'm glad you've reviewed these brushes, I've been looking at purchasing them. I didn't know wether to get the small one or both. (Jag 10 spoke open spoke design) Now I have seen the size and you have explained how they fit into the smallest of gaps I think I will get both. I have been using a Halfords brush but I find it next to useless, it bends with the slightest of pressure and that's just getting it in-between the spokes.

    I find the big ez brush amazing for cleaning alloys it gets into all the spaces you need it to although it does sling product abit it's worth it, also the chemical resistance of this brush is super I cleaned a friend's alloys and without my knowledge a cv boot had shat itself covering my brush in cv grease but all was not lost heavy degreaser and alcohol and it was like new again after using it for over a year the rubber "nipple" wore through i used two layers of heat shrink and its functional again, I also noted after shoving it scrunched up in a small detailing bag and it came out flat I thought it was ruined I ran it under hot water and like magic the bristles seem to have a resetable memory it was wide and ready for cleaning again I don't think il find a better brush I keep meaning to demote the old one to the engine bay as it's also amazing for that I've heard so I will be investing in a new one as always keep up the amazing videos

    I had one of these years back and it wasn't long until the rubber tip had come off. Unfortunately I hadn't noticed and I ended up with quite deep scratches on my alloys where I caught them with it. Had mine about 2years jon both the small and the large i find they get in places the woolies never would be able to as long as you pull the brush out slow if you have a lot of product on where it is catching or you get covered in wheel cleaner, and they are made to bend to shape to be able to clean behind the spokes.....i'd rather take the wheel off if i am going to do that and prolong it's life, when i have a really grubby wheel it almost looks as if their is a lot of the brush missing , i rise it out in hot water and keep it on it's end stood up and it just looks like new again...would i replace it with the same brush if it broke...too right I would..cheers for the review.

    Brilliant brush review Jon, how would you compare it to say, the Chemical Guys wheel brush ?
    I'm currently using a set of wheel woolies which I love.

      hey graham ive not used the chemical guys easy reach one.. it looks similar to the EZ like the speed master one but you never know really to you get to play with them.. I love the wheel woolies when I can fit them in to use them but thats literally a 50/50 thing for me and very rarely the big wooly brush..

    Love your style and your channel. Just been reading about lots of issues with 'diamond cut alloys where guys are suffering the dreaded corrosion under the lacquer problem. That is why I would never touch that style of wheel and prefer the all over paint job. Diamond cutting leaves a hard edge where the lacquer goes from alloy to paint and this never works. You must see loads of these so what are your experiences and have you found a good fix?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  4 роки тому

      yes once you cut them its really hard to smooth the edges down. apparently you need to spend a lot of time doing this or else the laquer does not seal the exposed metal and it oxidizes.. happened to me. I also would try and avoid diamond cuts.

    OK, so in short: it cleans well but scratches the hell out of the wheels. Better avoid it if you like your wheels to look like new. Right?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  3 роки тому +1

      no it does scratch the hell out of wheels. Its too soft for that. It can scratch clearcoat though but generally the clearcoat used on alloys is harder. I would not use them on VERY VERY high value alloys with black gloss finish or even satin perhaps. But Ive been using them on "normal" cars like my BMW's for years no problems. remember an alloy wheel barrels spends its life having abrasive brake dust fired into it so it can handle a brush wipe down.

    • @B16WGZ
      @B16WGZ 3 роки тому

      I agree that the hell out of them wasn't the best way to put it. I exaggerated a bit. But they can, and probably will, scratch the clearcoat. My wheels are glossy black, and when I touched this brush my first thought was "oh, my God, this feels like sandpaper, it's going to ruin my wheels". So I started looking for reviews (which is how I found your video), and they seem to confirm my concern. Which is a pity, because it really looks like a good quality brush. I will use it on my wife's silver wheels, but I guess I'd better keep it away from my black ones.

    I want to get just the 'EZ Detail GO Brush' to clean the barrel of my Rims (the way you showed with the EZ Wheel Brush LARGE) as i have the audi 18" 10 Spoke rims, so no tight spaces. I know the large brush would be better, but do you recon this would work too?
    Side note: I'm planning to sculpt a handle out of wood then drill a hole in it, glue the EZ GO brush into it to increase the length of the handle.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому

      if a big bog brush will fit in then this one will but its a lot bigger. you could use it. if you main you allows well and regulary perhaps consider like wheel woolies or the incredibrush or check out the new review of the wooly wormit. lots of guys at home go for the EZ its a great brush. the one caviat is nylon strands are nylon strands they will haze up clearcoat over time. so as a trade tool on manky alloys it doesnt matter but you dont need to perhaps use agressive brushes week in week out. at least i dont.

    • @4321nugget
      @4321nugget 5 років тому

      @@ForensicDetailing Thank you for the Reply :) When it comes to cleaning the barrel it does need a rough clean, as the break dust builds up very quick and is very hard to get off! Plus the minimum time between cleans is 2 weeks (life's too busy lol)
      I'm not too worried about hazing the alloys as they have a matte titanium finish so no clear coat to really damage.
      I really liked the EZ GO brush had a stiff handle/shaft compared to barrel brushes that have a little bendiness to the handle/shaft.
      But my concern is in 2 parts:
      Are the Bristles on the EZ GO as stiff/dense as those on the EZ Large brush? (Cause i don't want the bristles to go flat over time)
      The bristles cover a longer area of the shaft on the EZ Large brush, but is this really going to matter, just might need some more elbow grease when using the EZ GO brush?
      These are the wheels i've got.

      Ive been using the brush for what a month now.. still really like it.. one thing you need to be careful of is no over flexing it. the steel core runs all the way into the handle and its at this point where it will pivot.. so nice light hands and dont bend the brush to avoid prematurly snapping the shaft.. ouch...

  • @notacluebbq2500
    @notacluebbq2500 5 років тому

    Do these brushes "bend" at all so I can get behind spokes etc or are they just solid? Thank you.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому

      both the thin ones bend they are mild steel cores.. mild steel does not like being bent though and if you keep bending them you risk snapping it.. but you also risk bending it at the point where it goes into the handle and once you weaken it there, thats where they tend to break.. its the biggest downside of these brushes.. mind are still going strong 2 years after filming this because I dont bend them.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Рік тому

      use a non marring tool, they are like plastic chisels you push them under the weight and prize them up with the tool dont use screwdriver. After this you can use a rubber weel (adhesive remover wheel on a drill bit) and wipe wipe over with microfiber and tar and glue remover.

    Creates too much splatter…the long wheel brush is not dense enough and the bristles are stiff and not being dense makes gives the bristles more space to create heaps of splatter

      yer thats the weakness isnt it. mild steel coat hanger like core.. but such a great brush dave. mine is still going and I have had it 2-3 years and used it 50-100 times? but once it starts bending on the handle its going to keep bending there.. trick is to use in and out with light pressure so it never bends.. I would like to see a different material used in the core so it cant break though.
