“Feels fine honestly, I’ve been in worse”
That’s the right guy for the job 😂
I am sure Lizzie has been in worse. Her comments while filming made me laugh.
Good thing you guys go on a lot of rescues or Lizzy would never get any sleep...
I've had the same thought in past videos😊😄🙄😀😂🤣
Power Naps for a hard working girl.
Tactical napping at its best.
I'm up at 4:30am and take a nap after work. If I stopped moving I'm sure I would be like Lizzie.
There videos without lizzy are incomplete
Am I the only one that reflexively leans away from the down side of the hill while they're trying to pull these vehicles out of the fire? You guys are amazing!
Love the channel ! My suggestion: It sometimes isn't clear for the viewer how much time you spend on the road. Maybe you can add an estimation of the 'total trip time' on the screen when arriving on site ? What do you guys think ?
Wonderful idea dude I think they should
Like each call... When Ed is doing the recap.. Roll "total trip time" at the bottom
Great idea dude
I was taking my daughter to her prom, driving through Eureka, Utah, when we saw a woman frantically waving for help. She was sobbing. She and her husband were in the military and had been transferred. They were pulling their trailer behind their Jeep, heading for Tooele, Utah. Followed the GPS off-highway and up a box canyon in a spring blizzard. Got stuck. I said I'd go up and rescue them. Had no problem reaching them in my XTerra, but when I turned around I totally forgot that there is always a ditch on the low side of mountain trails like that. Sunk my back wheels into the snow. Ended up hiking back down to the highway with the husband and my FURIOUS daughter, who was wearing her prom dress LOL!
The happiest bunch of guys came and pulled us all out. They were having way too much fun. As well they should. The recovery was $1000. I split the cost with the family who originally got stuck since half the time was spent rescuing my stupid ass. Anyway, that's my daughter's prom night memory. We don't talk about it.
Oh man. Lessons learned at the worst time.
@@Greenhelix5 never follow the GPS. My prom 18 inches of snow had fallen in 24hrs and was blowing as only Southern Utah can.
She will never forget it! On the plus side you didn't have to worry about her coming home compromised it's a win win😂😂
@@ChalkyHonky Compromised? That's a weird term to use..
@@ChalkyHonky Also, not a win for the daughter

You know it's sketchy when Matt puts Rudy in the customer's car instead of Lizzie. Notice how Matt always fills up when Jaymie comes along... as she is his emergency fuel supply...
Being stranded in the middle of nowhere isn’t scary, but being stranded when your wife is along is a nightmare
Not always they did run out when she was with one time
He knows where his bread is buttered.
Protector, provider instincts kicking in with wife and/or kids along. Rudy doesn’t count he’s has already left the nest. 😀
Lizzy can do that now that she seen just how far and how a vehicle on a tether works on an incline.
Rudy as he stated "had been on and driven through worse" that is why Mat put him in and why he made sure Lizzy could watch. Next time is her turn and she has been at a steep angle once before, i forget which video it was though.
I've seen "the banana" around over the years here in Utah, and would love to meet you guys-but preferably not because I end up having to be a client. LOVE the channel. I think watching these recoveries is not only great entertainment but helps remind me of what NOT to do. It kind of helps keep me out of that category.
I have to admit I have sought out some of the areas you've been to for recoveries because they look fun but I think it balances...
The sound of that Corvair under load is pure music to my ears. Could listen to that all day! Love your Chanel. Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍
This was such a smart pull! It wasn't obvious to me at the beginning, but halfway through I understood the physics and the intent of what they were doing - that was both smart and not nearly as dicey as it looked.
@@jefffarrar7969 - I suspect the thesis was to have the rear come around (if necessary) to avoid the next 10 degrees or whatever it would have taken to really make a rollover possible. Seemed like a pretty good risk hedge to me - although I’m guessing he wasn’t planning on getting even close to the possibility of a rollover (especially with his unbelted son in there). Would be really cool to see all the vectors on one of these rescues!
@@anthonymrskipt9252 yes it will!! highly speculative but it seems the resultant Vector is pointing towards the side of the hill, the ground, so the 4Runner could actually be pressed down on the front axle. Notice when Matt picks up the throttle once it start getting hairy to keep the Toyota pinned down. This is a high skill recovery indeed, I think it was far away from tipping.
@@jefffarrar7969 As someone who doesn't know what they are talking about, I think they should've had the Toyota in 2wd to swing the back down the hill more, straightening it out to reduce the risk of tipping. Now back to my armchair of hindsight.
@@nonconsensualopinion
That only works for limited slip diffs or locking diffs... where both wheels on the axle are driven simultaneously...and act like a go kart, skidding sideways....and this had neither.
Notice that even in 4wd, only the driver's side wheels were spinning uselessly...neither of the passenger side wheels appeared to be getting powered...open diffs relying on electronic wheels braking for "4wd"?
4wd with open diffs on both axles=2wd.
LSD/locker on rear=3wd
LSD/locker on front=4wd
Locking centre diff also engaged= real 4wd.

Yes this T4R has Multi terrain system (MTS). In 4wd low traction control automatically goes off, set MTS to Sand. Also you can switch A-trac on in Sand mode, which utilizes wheel breaks to control spins for optimal traction. Or just use Crawl control. The spinning wheels at 9:07 on video is showing me is that A-trac is off.
Hey Matt, you really have a great instinctive sense of car balance on steep inclines.
I'm from Connecticut and also a fan of 4Runners which is why i clicked on this video!
I've watched quite a few of your videos old and new. I'm astonished at what you've learned in just 2 years. You've improved on all of your rescue techniques. You've much improved on your vids. You've improved on all of your vehicles and your rescue equipment as well. It might not mean much to you but I'm very impressed at the accumulation of knowledge you've acquired in the simi-short time you've done all this. It's interesting to see the progression. Keep moving forward and keep savin folks out there.
Kid needs to not turn right to be more parallel to the slope. Idiot.
“Jack And Diane” was by John Mellencamp . Titanic was Jack and Rose .
Exactly what I was going to say!
I'm 90% sure that's the joke Matt's making.
As long as it's not HI JACK
That's true. Jack and Diane were sucking on chili dogs outside the Tastyfreeze. It was a little ditty 🤪
If you're able to correct anyone with the exact line, in the exact move, word for word, scene and emotional state at that moment........smh you spend entirety much time in front of the TV.
The outside world is more dramatic, a better movie..
I absolutely love your show. The relationship you have with your oldest son and family is just incredible. Actually, you are all 1 big family to us! God bless you guys for such clean entertainment which is just so hard to find anymore.
I agree.. I hope it's a true in life as in pictures.
I sit at a desk all day and hate my job and these guys get to do this fun stuff all day. I'm jealous.
I love the honesty 😂
The problem isn’t the range, it’s the fact that I don’t ever fill it up. So it’s unreasonable to assume that I would behave differently with the gas cans.
Pretty impressive how the Moorvair pulls stuff out , made that rescue look easy for the conditions..
@Iron *Fe* rudy’s muscles too
Failed the pull in my opinion.
It was a noisy anchor attached to a Toyota.
Now let's talk about those 1500 different commands shouted......Wo wo wo,,Stop, that's good,no no no,keep pulling!! No wonder Matt got out to ask Rudy's opinion😂🤣
It’s the rope not the car. The car helps to get to these places but the rope does the majority of the work.
@Iron *Fe* did I say anything about this job? I know how kinetic and static ropes work. I use kinetic, dynamic and static ropes daily in my line of work
@Iron *Fe* not true that the vehicle is what’s doing the work it’s the speed and rebound of the energy that makes the stuck vehicle get moving. The recovery vehicle could be anything that will get to where you need it to be. You could use horses if you had enough of them to create enough energy to “pop” the vehicle and get it moving
"So we got a call ... " always brings a smile to my face when I see the notification for this channel

I love lizzy and Trevor's chemistry. They go so well together. Equally as goofy and love to laugh and have fun.
Lizzy to Trevor, "wow you're flexible" 😂
Yea! I couldn't agree more. Trevor is the serious kind of goofy person. He looks and sounds serious but can goof around, no shame what so ever.
Lizzy is the super happy almost childish and you hit the nail on the head, their chemistry is insanely good!
Thank you so much for always translating on screen the temperature in Fahrenheit into Celsius. It is really helpful, i'm even at last able to remember how the translation works. 60F is a bit chilly (15C) yet 70F is already something else (20C). Learning how to use degrees F with Lizzie, Ed and Jaimee! :)
Seriously though, i doth my cap to the editor of this video. The filmography is phenomenal from you guys right now.

4:33 Lizzy always taking her cat naps to recover from the morning hustle (feeding her cows and horses before sunrise) she's such a hard worker and adorable at the same time.

It was sketchy for some but Matt and Rudy have experience and skill…fun to watch!👏🏻
One of those mythical fans from CT here. Love your guys channel. Watch it all the time. Thanks!
That TRD Pro has a locking rear diff, which doesn't seem to be engaged, and A-Trac which when engaged essentially locks the front. Pushing those two buttons would have made a world of difference, with all four wheels receiving power.
doesn't it have crawl control too?
Beat me to it. No rear diff lock engaged to help.
I don't think the 4runners have locking rear diff to be honest, the new Tundra will, and the Tacoma does.
Crawl control alone once it was turned probably would have gotten it out of there
@@bettysmith4527 the regular 4 runners don't, the TRD PRO version does I believe

A pilot once told me "The only time you have too much fuel...is when your on fire". Lol!
Jayme I would have been a ball of nerves too if that had been one of my sons in that vehicle. Matt it just dawned on me why you always stop to get snacks at a gas station. You are worried you are going to run out of gas and not have any food to survive on. But what I don't understand is why you don't top off the tank while you are there so you don't run out 🤣🤣🤣. meh, prefer the land cruisers and earlier gen 4runners, wife drives a 2017 4runner and i have 3 landcruisers, 99,89 and 64 and two 4runners, 99 and 87, i prefer the 99's in both the landcruiser and 4runner and tend to drive those the most....to many electronics in the newer ones and they're just so much easier to modify, maintain and repair...but hey, do what you like, great thing about most toyotas is you can't really go wrong barring a few years here and there with frame problems.
@Snargfargle i have 6 toyotas, 3 land cruisers, 2 4runners and a tacoma, all of them have over 200k miles on them and all of them are still bulletproof and i wouldn't hesitate to drive them cross country and back tomorrow....i used to drive jeeps but i was spending so much money in larger repairs and just keeping them on the road that i could never mod them to my desires, started spending more up front to get into the toyotas and never looked back, they all are modded to exactly how i want them and was only able to do that because they never required more than basic maintenance, the wife has a 2017 4runner but that only has 35k on the clock but look forward to a decade or two of her driving that with little to no issue as well....it's amazing to think that my favorite vehicles are 20 years old and still running and driving like new.

This was an incredibly enjoyable video. Content, editing, camera work, plus all the typical MORR shenanigan's.
The image quality is beyond excellent and I'm loving the action shots panning, altitude down and moving with the moving vehicle, did you get new camera? The setups for these truly impressive shots convey where you are and what you are up against. Matt is Zen like in his approach and does not show fear in the completion of these extraction and is analytical in know ing what is going to happen before it does and has already worked his next steps and efficiently gets it done. One thought though, Trevor is to need to eat more if he is going to continue spending all his time cross training in the sand hills.
