I've been using this technique since I was a child ! My mother and my grandmother also use this technique to keep their hair stretched. This is a hair stretching method from the Caribbean to keep your hair stretched and tangle free. It helps A LOT with LENGTH RETENTION ! So you should give it a try even when your hair is not straightened !
I'm able to keep my hair straight for an entire month with this method.
Additional tips to keep your hair smooth :
- Apply light oils from time to time such as jojoba oil or fractionated coconut oil. Oils protect your hair from humidity and friction.
- Use a shower cap to avoid water from splashing on your hair.
- Do the flat buns towards the crown of your head.
- Sleep with a satin scarf, a satin bonnet and/or a satin pillowcase to keep your hair smooth.

Xidiga this hairstyle is known as Bantu knots in lots of African countries. it originated from Bantu people in africa, its Chiney bumps in Jamaica i believe

@@TheCityDweller1 It lasted a week till wash day at the end of the week. I sweat alot since it was hot and dry where I live. My roots did get a little frizzy so I learned that this is best if I'd blow dried my hair out before I did this. Overall, this is great for preserving stretched hair.😊
Edit 2: While this is a great technique for me, I've learned that this doesn't work well when I allowed my hair to shrink too much. Since I have that course, tightly coiled texture, I can only do this technique when my hair has been stretched or straightened prior to it. Overall, its helped me maintain the stretched hair when I'm too tired to plait or braid it at night. I hope my experience will help everyone learn when it does and does work for their own hair. ❤

That's a nice and simple way to keep hair stretched. I have to totally avoid using a comb bc my hair can't handle it, so I finger detangle. I like the "lazy" 2 bun look!

It doesn’t takes 5 years to grow long healthy Waist length hair a year or two it depends on what you are doing to your hair to make it grow, and also you need to take care of your hair 5 years that’s funny 😂😂😂

She would only let it down for church specials or events. I haven't thought about doing this until now. 🤔 I do the Bantu on each side. I think 4 or more would be better on my thick long hair also. TY ❤️ 👍🏽

I'm from Haiti when I watched your video my great grandma mother came to my mind she used to wear the second style a lot. She had super long hair past her butt my mom said before I was born until her death she had kind of shoulder length hair. Only different textures cause she was mixed French/ Spanish dominican. There are those that speak French, Spanish, Dutch, Papiamento, Haitian Creole, Antillean Creole, as well as other creoles( in Suriname there is a Dutch Creole, Trinidadian Creole is different from Jamaican Patwa), there is Caribbean Hindustani, as well as many indigenous languages( Guyana, Surinam mainly).

I do this all the time lol before I started watching UA-cam videos I would just do things naturally not knowing I was using a certain technique. Lol I guess it’s a natural hair instinct that just comes along.
I apply avocado oil to my ends nightly and apply four medium flexi rods and hunty my curls stay popping all month.Great video
