    The first two hacks involve the baggy method and a protective style. The baggy method is often do for bedtime. Before going to bed, you just have to do several braids or twists, then you protect your ends with cellophane or a plastic bag (use a bioplastic bag and reuse it as much as possible; yes I'm on a zero waste lifestyle now). Then you put a satin scarf to protect your hair against friction and breakage.
    In addition to doing the baggy method at night, you can do it for the day. That's what I'm showing you in this video. In this case, your hair is protected all the time so that YOU RETAIN A LOT OF LENGTH ! You can do those hairstyles with the baggy method to go out, to go to work or to school for instance.
    The last hack involves the GHE method and a protective style.
    Before doing a protective style, don't forget to take care of your hair. You should moisturize it first with your favorite products (leave-ins, hair creams, hair milks, the L.O.C method or an other similar one like the L.O.C.O , L.C.O , L.O.B , L.B.O methods). You can also use natural oils, butters and gels (flaxseed gel for instance).

    I’m white but with very long hair and I know these are supposed to be styles to help grow ethnic hair but the 2 first styles (all 3 really) look very pretty and simple so thanks I’m going to try these , I do have to put leave in conditioner and oils in my hair so I’ll do that and just skip the Saran Wrap !! You are so very beautiful btw!!!!

    I do two cornrows/Dutch braids, cross the plaits and weave it back into the hair. I also do a plait of plaits (loosely) and tuck it back into my hair so that the ends lay near the roots. I've also done buns but I'm not into hairpins or bobby pins. It can stay in with or without a hair elastic.

    I usually do the last method in your video. Most of the time, I style and cover my hair with silk scarves and head wraps. Moisturizing and oiling the hair in between wash days is important also. Thank you so much for your videos! ❤️

    Both versions of the bun will definitely be my go- to hacks because I don't have any large scarfs. I'm WL when hair is flat ironed. I'm looking to obtain TBL when it's not flat ironed.This will be no easy feat because my naturally washed hair can shrink up to collar length of i don't use the rake and shake method!

      I don't do this as often as before because I have achieved my hair length goal.
      When I started my hair journey, I did the GHE method for three months in a row (I did it EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THREE MONTHS 😅). Nobody saw my hair for three months because I was very determined to achieve my hair length goal ! Haha ! 😂
      I would do the other hacks from time to time when I felt like it. I did not have a routine for those ones.

    Perhaps I'm going to try them all at some point. But the easiest one so far and the one I may require most at this point is the one that isolates the ends. My ends feel a little rough and dry cause I bleached them to color them. It was my first time ever no one told me it would make my hair so brittle. Anyway, I'm trimming them out gradually as necessary. So in the mean time I'll try method 1 to keep them loved.

    • @MsTemptation

      KeepingItReal Naturalist , wow. You didn't know that bleaching is bad for the hair?🤔😱

    • @keepingitrealnaturalist5472
      @keepingitrealnaturalist5472 6 років тому

      I've always been natural but clearly was doing everything wrong, so I wasn't retaining any length. Most ppl told me its ok once I make sure I keep it moisturized, but boy were they wrong, even when I do that the ends still feel rough.

    Your hair is so beautiful...well done your patience and perserverance has really paid off. I have recently done a big chop as so much of my hair fell out. What would your regimen be if your hair was very short and your aim was to grow it out as quick as possible?

    • @UnivHairSoleil3
      @UnivHairSoleil3  6 років тому +16

      Thank you so much ! I would focus on hair growth stimulation and length retention.
      To stimulate your hair growth, massage you scalp everyday with a stimulating oil (for example, peppermint oil diluted in a carrier oil such as olive oil or coconut oil). Use only shampoos that keep your hair moisturized. I advise you to use natural ones such as fermented rice water, aloe vera, hibiscus, ect. You can shampoo your hair once a week (or even twice a week) if you use a natural shampoo and your hair is very short (like a TWA). When your hair gets longer you can schedule you hair wash days to once a week or once every two weeks.
      Here are my tips for length retention : bit.ly/LengthRetention
      Here are the scalp massage techniques you should use : bit.ly/HairGrowthScalpMassage
      To style your hair, lubricate it or/and moisturize it, you can use your favorite natural oils and leave-ins. You can also use natural gels like flaxseed gel and okra gel. I've made a video about how to make hibiscus flaxseed gel (I find it even more moisturizing than the flaxseed gel alone) : bit.ly/HealthyHairGel

    Hello beautiful youtube lady! I am trying to grow my granbaby's hair. Her hair is longer in the back, shorter everywhere else. Do you think it would help to oli her ends, wrap it and then string the end through balls and then secure it with bands?
    Her hair is not long enough for a big bun
    The balls would cover the plastic wrap since I would only need to use a small amount and the elastic band would be tied around the plastic wrap instead of directly on her ends. What do you think?

    Is your hair blownout in this video? It's my first time watching any of your vids so Idk if it's blown out or if that's how it normally is.
