It should be fine, yes. The game depot is authentic and not obtained in anyway illegal. We are simply utilizing Steam archives to obtain older version. So you wouldn’t need to worry about being detected for cheating or anything because you just aren’t using most current version, is my thinking. Please though, keep in mind that I am not an expert. My experiences may not necessarily reflect that of yours.

So, I just got Elden Ring a few days ago and I want to play it with a few friends of mine, went to the mod site got the mod, did the consol depot thingy, put everything together and tried to run Elden Ring. My friends and I would get the error: "Failed to load save data Select 'OK' to try again!" So, we couldn't figure out why. I stumbled on this video, fully uninstalled and deleted all the files and the game of Elden Ring, reinstalled it, ran it, closed it, and then tried this method of making a new folder. I am still getting the same error. I am not sure what to do at this point. The ELDEN RING COOP folder looks exactly the same as the ss that was provided in your community tab, the password is set up correctly. I am kind of at a loss.

What is the following issue " Failed to find all necessary game signatures. The game version may not be appropriate for the mod, or you may have a incompatible mod installed". I have Nexus seamless co-op mod as my only mod and its version 1.51 and elden ring version 1.12.2. I've followed guides and I'm "in" the discord though they havent assigned a role for some stupid reason and see theyre making updates but why cant we play yet? Updates say that the mod is unaffected yet it seems pretty affected to me. I dont mess with mods and files but this is my first time doing this if anyone has any idea whats going on.
If you’re trying to use the mod on the regular version of Elden, with the most recent patch, it breaks the mod. Even without DLC. Mod is close to being finalized though.

Yes, we should be able to since the saves are stored in a seperate location, so we should be able to update seamless and transfer it to the updated game files, and it should have the save! Planning on making a video for this when it happerns.

Possible fix found on Steam by shadow star: I finally found a fix that worked for me! It was caused by the devices refreshing. Here is how you can find out if it keeps refreshing for you as well: Finding the cause: 1. Go to your start menu and search for Device Manager 2. Play the game while having the device manager open on another screen if you have one. 3. if you see the list in the device manager refreshing and your game freezes then the following might fix it. The fix: 1. Open Task Manager 2. Go to the Services Tab 3. Find the name SSDPSRV (Description: SSDP Discovery) 4. Right-click it and click stop, the status should change from "Running" to "Stopped". 5. Enjoy Elden Ring hopefully without freezes! If this should not fix it, then it may be caused by a USB device instead. Try searching for a software called USBLogView by NirSoft online. Download and run it. Keep it on a second screen while playing and see if it logs and plug ins and plug outs. If it does, disconnect the device that keeps disconnecting/connecting and play and see if that fixes it.

Yes, and since save files are not stored in the same location, when the update comes out we should be able to transfer steam to the dlc Elden ring and keep going. Planning on making a video for this when it happens.
Thank you for this vid!! The depots downloaded onto my harddrive but just for faster load times i want to transfer it onto my ssd after its finished downloading. Do you know if this will cause an error? Should i just keep it on my harddrive? I have space on both.
This guy and I did a 1:1 walk through and he got it working smoothly. Are you sure it’s the large download? It may not be complete yet. The first one takes a few seconds but the second takes awhile. It will tell you when it’s complete

Or at least how can I get it? Second thing is, I've never used mods and will not be using. If you don’t need the mod why do this process? There is nothing wrong with the regular version. This is only for seamless. Otherwise it is unnecessary. The exe depot is the one I downloaded.

I followed the step of the guy's video ua-cam.com/video/916WBJ0T-KI/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared And just used the main game file depot that I downloaded. I deleted the original game file callled "game" and used the one in the depot file. And the about the exe I just used the one in the original game file😂. I used that and compared both files and noticed that the dlc files weren't in the depot file, So I moved them into the depot file. Launched the game and told my friend to Launch it as well to verify that it worked and it did!😂

I have all the files needed however when I open the seemless coop it says that the game files and saved files aren't up to date or something? What could be causing this?
Somewhere along the way, the game is detecting a mismatch in file compatibility. Ensure all the depot files are correct, and that no files from the updated version were accidentally placed in the new folder. Additionally, you cannot use saves from the most recent version in seamless so if you tried to transfer, it won’t work (yet). Which is another potential incompatibility reason that would cause the error.

@joeydeleon8819 Seamless does not use the saves from the actual game. They are separate. You can transfer vanilla saves using the .co2 and .sl2 extensions appropriately on the actaul game saves. BUT because the DLC version is newer the saves from this will not work. They will eventually but not until the mod update.

Yes. The files are not transferred between the two. This is how seamless normally works. You can look up a conversion tutorial although going from vanilla to seamless is much less risky than seamless to vanilla

Hey, Jordan. This means your drive is out of storage. Go to Steam > Settings > Storage > add drive and change where steam downloads to. Additionally, checkout some of the other comments that say this same error. There are links that may help.
Currently it’s not possible. Is usually is, and eventually will work again. Just Google “convert Elden save to seamless”. It uses .co2 extension and another I can’t remember to change the save files from vanilla.

@@cowgaming7435 did you have a save in seamless coop before downloading the newest version? Seamless coop saves are separate to base game saves. So if you did not have a coop save before, you will have to make a new one or transfer one from the base game using the link in the pinned comment.
Tried this with the new launcher and didnt work, is there any other way to play an older version of the game. Been trying to play convergence with seemless coop.
Yes, this is because 1.7.4 seamless has altered coding to work with the 1.12.2 patch of Elden. You would need to find 1.5 version of Seamless for this to work
i accidentally pasted the second depot while it was downloading and it gave me a bunch of messages saying src\clientdll\depotdownloadmgr.cpp (2951) : Assertion Failed: CDepotDownloadMgr::BYldRequestDepotChunks: same chunk requested twice for depot 1245621 then it gave me this message Depot download failed : error writing chunk for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1245620\depot_1245621\Game\Data0.bdt" is it still downloading or did i break it?
This first just means you doubled the same depot and then the second one means you need more space to download the data (47gb) on the drive it is downloading to. You’ll need to go to the file location, delete the incomplete download files if any, and then make some space on your drive or add a new download location through steam settings, and then redo the download.
Hey, thank you! Someone else asked about reforged. I haven’t ever used other mods, but when I went to the reforged mod page, I saw instructions detailing how to use the mod with seamless. I’d say you can assume that any mod can be used as normal with this tutorial so long as the mod is in the new folder we create with the depot files and not the actual game.

So I'm having the issue of no storage on the drive that steam is downloaded on, do you know if there is a way to download the files onto a different drive? I already tried adding another drive to my steam storage, however when I download the depot it keeps downloading it into my C Drive.
Or to uninstall a small game and reinstall on the other drive and then have future games install to the new drive. It creates the “common” folder for steam to access games on that new drive, and should then allow the depot to download there.

It’s possible. Sometimes opening the actual game (in this case the Elden exe with the seamless exe) and then exiting out after the title loads, will set the game straight. Seems stupid but it worked for my buddy and I on several occasions

check the saves file here: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Roaming/EldenRing/ using the windows + R command and pasting the location to see if there is a save with a .co2 extension (this is the coop extension for the character saves). You may need to click the "show hidden" option to see file extension.
Yes! Once the mod updates to be compatible with the DLC, you can simply move over your seamless co-op folder and seamless co-op.exe from the ELDEN RING COOP folder to the ELDEN RING folder
Also to clarify, your saves for both the actual Elden ring and seamless co-op are stored in a different location than the game files that were working with in the video. So you don’t need to worry about moving any file folders to keep your progress for saves. They should be current, no matter what! Even after the update.

If you’re trying to copy over your main save form the vanilla Elden ring and you’ve updated the game, it will be in compatible with seamless because the versions don’t match. this is what it shows when i did every steps, i rmmbr having a saved data progress to the latest patch, I think ur method only works for players who have not saved a progress on the latest patch.
the first issue, one guy found epic games was causing it. The game signautes is an issue with the files. You can dm me with discord at .spectralghost. Make sure your files match the ones in the photo of the community tab. I think some of your files are mixed up as this is the error were trying to get around.

Use this file location and paste it in the run command with windows + R : %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Roaming/EldenRing/ In side the randomly numbered folder should be your saves. Be sure that the seamless one is a .co2 file extension type. This is the save type for seamless. If you're getting an error with the save version not matching, it is likely because the save (if you transferred from the actual game) is from the updated version of the game, so it would be incompatible (even if transferred) with the seamless until the mod update.

No, you have to own the game to do this, and this does not get you the dlc. It allows you to play seamless with a workaround because the dlc breaks the mod.

Yes this is what the video does. Seamless would not run if you did not do this fix. It will be available after the mod dev updates the mod, but for now this is just to keep seamless playable while also keeping the base game with the DLC playable. Previously, you could only choose one or the other: be able to play the DLC on the base game and not have seamless or have seamless and not the base game.

the second file downlaod from depot can be a pain in the ass, just lookup on the depot file download; if its about 48GB, you should be good on file transfer.
This is just a storage issue. Add a storage location through Steam settings, or simply add another instance of steam on a different drive and then open the EXE of that steam and download the depot from that.

hmm, the manual route is program files (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > common. whatever drive you installed steam on is the location of this flow. You can check by going to steam settings > storage > and see what drive it downloads to. that will be the drive to look for program files (x86) and find elden ring

@@wrexoo just press windows key + R and it will bring up a run box. paste this into the little box that comes up. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common This should bring up your steam game files unless you moved it. The notepad is just so i don't have to confuse everyone by going all over the place to get commands. all the needed commands are in my pinned comment.
If you mean does the progress have your seamless co-op from previously? Yes. And likewise when the DLC update comes out for the mod, your progress will transfer, but this does not save progress between seamless in the actual Elden ring. They are separate saves unless you transfer transfer the save by changing the end of the file extension.

character saves are not stored in the same location so are not affected by the deletion of the last video. Likewise, I would recommend you delete the files from the old video and reinstall the most up to date version of Elden Ring before following this video. The previous video was before I learned of this work around to have both functioning.

You can additionally add another drive to sotrage with Steam > settings > storage > add drive. move a game over to this location and steam will create the "common" folder where it stores game data, so we can put the depot on the alterative drive.

It should be fine, yes. The game depot is authentic and not obtained in anyway illegal. We are simply utilizing Steam archives to obtain older version. So you wouldn’t need to worry about being detected for cheating or anything because you just aren’t using most current version, is my thinking. Please though, keep in mind that I am not an expert. My experiences may not necessarily reflect that of yours.

So, I just got Elden Ring a few days ago and I want to play it with a few friends of mine, went to the mod site got the mod, did the consol depot thingy, put everything together and tried to run Elden Ring. My friends and I would get the error: "Failed to load save data Select 'OK' to try again!" So, we couldn't figure out why. I stumbled on this video, fully uninstalled and deleted all the files and the game of Elden Ring, reinstalled it, ran it, closed it, and then tried this method of making a new folder. I am still getting the same error. I am not sure what to do at this point. The ELDEN RING COOP folder looks exactly the same as the ss that was provided in your community tab, the password is set up correctly. I am kind of at a loss.

I have Nexus seamless co-op mod as my only mod and its version 1.51 and elden ring version 1.12.2.

If you’re trying to use the mod on the regular version of Elden, with the most recent patch, it breaks the mod. Even without DLC. Mod is close to being finalized though.

I finally found a fix that worked for me! It was caused by the devices refreshing.
Here is how you can find out if it keeps refreshing for you as well:
Finding the cause:
1. Go to your start menu and search for Device Manager
2. Play the game while having the device manager open on another screen if you have one.
3. if you see the list in the device manager refreshing and your game freezes then the following might fix it.
The fix:
1. Open Task Manager
2. Go to the Services Tab
3. Find the name SSDPSRV (Description: SSDP Discovery)
4. Right-click it and click stop, the status should change from "Running" to "Stopped".
5. Enjoy Elden Ring hopefully without freezes!
If this should not fix it, then it may be caused by a USB device instead. Try searching for a software called USBLogView by NirSoft online. Download and run it. Keep it on a second screen while playing and see if it logs and plug ins and plug outs. If it does, disconnect the device that keeps disconnecting/connecting and play and see if that fixes it.

Also pro-tip for anyone out there having space issues with installing from the Steam console. Apparently the only way to specify where the console installs the depots initially is to download another instance of Steam on the drive you want and launch the exe. from there.

No it shouldn’t so long as steam is able to locate the files for launch!

As long as you haven't gotten any errors, it should still be downloading. It will say "complete" when its done. Its likely just your Wi-Fi speeds.

If you don’t need the mod why do this process? There is nothing wrong with the regular version. This is only for seamless. Otherwise it is unnecessary. The exe depot is the one I downloaded.

As I said earlier I already downloaded the main game file depot from SteamDB. And that I only was looking for the exe file depot.
I followed the step of the guy's video

And just used the main game file depot that I downloaded. I deleted the original game file callled "game" and used the one in the depot file.
And the about the exe I just used the one in the original game file😂. I used that and compared both files and noticed that the dlc files weren't in the depot file, So I moved them into the depot file.
Launched the game and told my friend to Launch it as well to verify that it worked and it did!😂

Somewhere along the way, the game is detecting a mismatch in file compatibility. Ensure all the depot files are correct, and that no files from the updated version were accidentally placed in the new folder. Additionally, you cannot use saves from the most recent version in seamless so if you tried to transfer, it won’t work (yet). Which is another potential incompatibility reason that would cause the error.

@joeydeleon8819 Seamless does not use the saves from the actual game. They are separate. You can transfer vanilla saves using the .co2 and .sl2 extensions appropriately on the actaul game saves. BUT because the DLC version is newer the saves from this will not work. They will eventually but not until the mod update.

Currently it’s not possible. Is usually is, and eventually will work again. Just Google “convert Elden save to seamless”. It uses .co2 extension and another I can’t remember to change the save files from vanilla.

Yes, this is because 1.7.4 seamless has altered coding to work with the 1.12.2 patch of Elden. You would need to find 1.5 version of Seamless for this to work
Go here: and click file archive beneath “preview files” in the “files” tab. You’ll be able to access the older version and this should work.
i accidentally pasted the second depot while it was downloading and it gave me a bunch of messages saying

This first just means you doubled the same depot and then the second one means you need more space to download the data (47gb) on the drive it is downloading to. You’ll need to go to the file location, delete the incomplete download files if any, and then make some space on your drive or add a new download location through steam settings, and then redo the download.

Hey, thank you! Someone else asked about reforged. I haven’t ever used other mods, but when I went to the reforged mod page, I saw instructions detailing how to use the mod with seamless. I’d say you can assume that any mod can be used as normal with this tutorial so long as the mod is in the new folder we create with the depot files and not the actual game.

So I'm having the issue of no storage on the drive that steam is downloaded on, do you know if there is a way to download the files onto a different drive? I already tried adding another drive to my steam storage, however when I download the depot it keeps downloading it into my C Drive.
Apparently the only way to get around this is to download another steam install onto a different drive.
Or to uninstall a small game and reinstall on the other drive and then have future games install to the new drive. It creates the “common” folder for steam to access games on that new drive, and should then allow the depot to download there.

I followed the steps and have the same files ine ELDEN RING COOP as in comunity tab, but i get a white screen and then my game crashes. I don't have epic games installed, could riot games be causing this?
It’s possible. Sometimes opening the actual game (in this case the Elden exe with the seamless exe) and then exiting out after the title loads, will set the game straight. Seems stupid but it worked for my buddy and I on several occasions

"I have a problem where my screen stutters every 5-10 seconds when I set up a seamless coop lobby. However, when I don't have the lobby open, everything is fine. This is odd. It shouldn't be affected by the old version, since the old version is just the game right before DLC. I'll look into and see if I can find anything.

Hey! Someone said they removed the anti cheat, sd and movie folders (deleted) and added them back by downloading the depots again and only add those three folders and they then had audio again.

using the windows + R command and pasting the location to see if there is a save with a .co2 extension (this is the coop extension for the character saves). You may need to click the "show hidden" option to see file extension.

Yes! Once the mod updates to be compatible with the DLC, you can simply move over your seamless co-op folder and seamless co-op.exe from the ELDEN RING COOP folder to the ELDEN RING folder
Also to clarify, your saves for both the actual Elden ring and seamless co-op are stored in a different location than the game files that were working with in the video. So you don’t need to worry about moving any file folders to keep your progress for saves. They should be current, no matter what! Even after the update.

If you’re trying to copy over your main save form the vanilla Elden ring and you’ve updated the game, it will be in compatible with seamless because the versions don’t match. However, if you’d like to try anyway, you can go to

File location and try to convert your save to a .co2

game data & saved data versions are limited, quit the game & use the steam client to update game data to the latest version before trying.
this is what it shows when i did every steps, i rmmbr having a saved data progress to the latest patch, I think ur method only works for players who have not saved a progress on the latest patch.
It is true that you cannot use the dlc saves on seamless (yet).

hey can i get some help man whenever i try opening it after all the steps, it turns to white with the elden ring cursor, but then it just closes
now it opens but it says it failed to find the game signatures
the first issue, one guy found epic games was causing it. The game signautes is an issue with the files. You can dm me with discord at .spectralghost. Make sure your files match the ones in the photo of the community tab. I think some of your files are mixed up as this is the error were trying to get around.

edit: So I think I tranferred the save correctly, but I'm getting a message at the launch screen that says the game version and save version don't match
Use this file location and paste it in the run command with windows + R : %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Roaming/EldenRing/
In side the randomly numbered folder should be your saves. Be sure that the seamless one is a .co2 file extension type. This is the save type for seamless.
If you're getting an error with the save version not matching, it is likely because the save (if you transferred from the actual game) is from the updated version of the game, so it would be incompatible (even if transferred) with the seamless until the mod update.

wait if you don't have the dlc you basically get it for free? that sounds sketchy i don't want to get banned opening something wrong can someone confirm?
No, you have to own the game to do this, and this does not get you the dlc. It allows you to play seamless with a workaround because the dlc breaks the mod.

Yes this is what the video does. Seamless would not run if you did not do this fix. It will be available after the mod dev updates the mod, but for now this is just to keep seamless playable while also keeping the base game with the DLC playable. Previously, you could only choose one or the other: be able to play the DLC on the base game and not have seamless or have seamless and not the base game.

the second file downlaod from depot can be a pain in the ass, just lookup on the depot file download; if its about 48GB, you should be good on file transfer.
This is just a storage issue. Add a storage location through Steam settings, or simply add another instance of steam on a different drive and then open the EXE of that steam and download the depot from that.

hmm, the manual route is program files (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > common. whatever drive you installed steam on is the location of this flow. You can check by going to steam settings > storage > and see what drive it downloads to. that will be the drive to look for program files (x86) and find elden ring

This should bring up your steam game files unless you moved it. The notepad is just so i don't have to confuse everyone by going all over the place to get commands. all the needed commands are in my pinned comment.

If you mean does the progress have your seamless co-op from previously? Yes. And likewise when the DLC update comes out for the mod, your progress will transfer, but this does not save progress between seamless in the actual Elden ring. They are separate saves unless you transfer transfer the save by changing the end of the file extension.

yes! this is a temp fix that will work indefinitely until the mod update comes out.

@@ASavagejoker because the Elden Ring base game is more up to date than the seamless, converting it like you normally would will not work because seamless is not yet compatible with the updated saves of the base game.

If I deleted my files from the last video with my character save will I still have it when I download the depot?
character saves are not stored in the same location so are not affected by the deletion of the last video. Likewise, I would recommend you delete the files from the old video and reinstall the most up to date version of Elden Ring before following this video. The previous video was before I learned of this work around to have both functioning.
