    My bf is in renal failure stemming from the sepsis he had a couple years ago... him actually being in failure came on rather suddenly. He was under the impression that while his kidneys did take a bit of a walloping initially, they were doing okay... so he had no idea they were probably going down hill that entire time. x.x I don't think the doctors really educated him enough on the fact he really needed to be with a kidney doctor after his hospital stay... he was stage 4 a few months ago, but now they are at 10% functioning... so renal failure. He's going on dialysis soon. Hopefully he can get a donor. I worry about him. Hope you are doing well now.

      Try acacia fiber it has helped people go back to at least stage 3 or 4 and cut out meat protein.

    Hi, did the doctors give you any insight as to what caused sudden kidney failure? I’m curious is you had any symptoms weeks or months prior to this happening? I’m happy you were blessed to get a transplant. God bless you.

      Thank you for the kind words! But no, unfortunately they never found the reason as to why this happened. A couple months before I did wake up one morning to a terrible headache. I remember it was so bad I asked my brother to take me to the hospital, but it went a way after a nap and didn’t think much of it again until this happened. That could have been a symptom of the high blood pressure, but my bp thankfully became normal again once I had the transplant

      It was 200+/100+ I don’t remember the exact numbers. But currently it’s perfectly normal without any blood pressure meds thankfully

    Brother does your kidney size reduce due to high blood pressure ? Can you please check your sonography report? ( Probably the old report since you had a transplant) .
    My fathers both kidney size was 7.19 and 7.45. 1 and half year ago his left kidney was 9 cm and now it reduces to 7.
    Any idea ?

    • @onemokidney
      @onemokidney  Місяць тому

      I’m not sure if they would reduce due to high blood pressure, I’d have to look into that. But from personal experience I think they can shrink due to kidney failure/lack of use. With little blood flow going through them there’s no need for them to function, and depending on the level of function that’ll determine the filtration rate (which tells you how much they’re currently in use). I recently tried ultra sounding my kidneys in medical school but couldn’t find the old ones and was told that’s because they’ve shrunk. Does he have kidney failure or just hypertension?

    I have kidney disease (not failure yet ) but I don’t have high blood pressure , is that unusual?

    • @onemokidney
      @onemokidney  Місяць тому

      I don’t think so, the thing about kidney disease is that’s its progression can be so slow that it often goes clinically silent, especially in the early stages. It’s a good thing that you don’t have hypertension, and something you should watch and manage with your doctors as they’ll know best. Wishing you healing, ease, and comfort!
