I agree with the "is this available" lead being the worst. I swear most people hit that button either by mistake or for some reason they're using it like it's a 'save' button if you get what I mean. I have gotten many of those and followed up on each one only to never hear anything back 90% of the time. It's mostly when selling jewelry crafts like beads that this happens with.

Hi Will. Great video - for the following reasons: You don't waffle. The video does not contain any superfluous, personal details that are not relevant. Secondly, I'll bet you have either rehearsed and/or scripted the video so that you can transition smoothly from one topic to the next. Thirdly, you add texted bullet points, so the viewer can pause the video and write these down. Great job. I have a problem, the thing I'm selling is my skills. For example, there’s a photographer in my area who specializes in pet photos with owners. The way he advertises is by doing shoots and prints for free for local vets to hang on their office walls, naturally leading to questions and leads for him when people go, “wow, that’s a great picture”.

Should I wait until the money has been successfully transferred to my paypal account before I ship the item? I have fear that they will just send fake email message stating they have sent the money to my account when in reality they haven't. How would I know it was a genuine payment transaction? Is there a specific statement that Paypal always say if money is legitimately transferred to my account?
PayPal typically is more buyer friendly than seller friendly. I'd tread carefully. Not sure you'll be able to wait for the money to fully transfer before you need to ship it. Just look for the official PayPal transaction confirmation.
QUESTION: After properly listing my items for sale, I then SEARCHED for my listing on FBMP and it did not appear in the SEARCH despite me typing in the keywords used in the title of the Advertisement. Why is this happening?

Yeah I’ve seen a few comments here and there about this, but I’ve never had this problem. It may be more prone for people with TONS of listings. My best advice would be to play around with it and if you’re not seeing views after a day or so, edit the listing and see how the edited one goes!
Hi, Marissa. If you click into your Selling tab, you'll be able to see your listings and then there is an option to renew your listing after I believe seven days have passed. Hope this helps!

Im selling on Facebook marketplace for the first time but I am not understanding how Facebook pay works for sellers and the buyer protection program from the seller perspective? If a package goes missing, does the seller take a hit? If you sell through the Facebook pay and the buyer puts a claim for buyer protection, then how does this effect the seller versus getting venmo/ cashapp?
Hi there -- you typically meet up for the sale. It's sold as-is. There aren't the typical protections of eBay or an Amazon. You will need to get Venmo or Cashapp typically for digital payments. It's very similar to the downsides of buying and selling on Craigslist.
I just sold a guy a generator that I used one time. It had about 4 hours of use on it. He messages me several hours later saying that it did not work. When we met up I showed him how to start it. In cranked up with no problem. I sent him a PDF of the owners manual and a video of how to start it. Do I owe him anything else? My only reservation for even considering a refund is that if he broke it after he bought it how is that my issue? It worked perfectly when I sold it to him. I have no idea what he did to it after the sale.
Eric your mileage may vary. In that sort of situation I’d review their profile to see what you think of their legitness, consider the price of the purchase (ie. If it’s $10 it’s not a huge deal), and then offer paying a small “deposit” to commit to buy, and then the rest after the sale is complete. I wouldn’t pay up front before meeting though. That seems questionable. I have had buyers of things pay me ahead of time but it’s mostly been when they’re literally an hour away and not a few days before.

Hello, I was asked to provide my ssn info. cause my sales amount reached $599. I submitted my ssn and been told will get confirmation from FB up to 2 business days, it's been 3 days and still didn't hear anything back from FB. Now my listings are only available for local pickup, and my previous sales $ are pending.. have you ever been asked to provide ssn to FB? If yes, how long it's been take to get confirmation from FB? I have not had that ask come up before. I don’t use Facebook’s payment option very often vs. Venmo or Cash app. Facebook can be tough to get in touch with. Your best bet is their help articles. Best of luck!
Thanks for your video! My question is a bit different. How do other sellers do it when receiving payment on fb if the account is under a nickname that is not their legal name/last name? I know you need to link your bank account which I did, and I know you can create a fb account without using your legal name/last name. So I was able to list my items for local Pick up/meet up with no issue. And later gave me the “offer shipping” option I clicked on it and it did the change and It asked for my legal name and lastname for my bank account / shipping from info. I have entered the info. Then the next day I got my account disabled. It asked to show my face and move in diff angles and submit it to fb to make sure I’m a real person, so I did that verification process. My account is enabled now which is good, but my banking info/ shipping from info is deleted. Can you please help me, thanks!

You make some very good suggestions...I wish anyone who wants to sell on FB Marketplace or any other sale platform would be required to watch a video like this...some listings I come across are just the worst; terrible, dark picture, not pictures as you suggest, but picture, one freaking picture! In terms of rating someone, I don’t have experience doing it on a computer since I always do it on the app. I’m sure you can find the flow to be similar where if you mark something as sold, it’ll prompt you on the computer to share more about when it was sold.

I was getting no clicks on my PC that was listed up for $250. It sells for roughly that on eBay. I dropped the price all the way down to $50 just to see if I'd get any responses, and nope. Not a single click lol I did everything you suggested too. Wtf is going on

Not sure what you mean; once it's gone live they'll be able to directly message if interested on the listing. Otherwise, you may find it helpful to have a friend try to find your listing.

Yeah sometimes listings take time. In those situations I mostly just relist until they are sold. Following up with prospective buyers is important though, as you mentioned.
I'm older and don't worship my phone like you kids. I might be in the yard or something for hours with my phone inside. I've had people that seem to be upset if I don't reply to their message in a minute or two, then they block me or something...
Hope u have an answer to this: I am selling things from my home, etc., not as a business. I don’t want it to show on my personal feed. I have even read Facebook for Dummies, no solution.
The listings you sell from your personal account will only show if people that are friends with you happen to search for what you listed. It wouldn’t show up in your personal feed.
Thanks for the video! I would like to share one more way to improve business communication on facebook. I mean more automation. Built-in features aren't always enough, and they are often far too complicated to adjust. There are simple apps (like Cucomm, for example) that allow you to send mass messages or automatically add friends on Facebook. You can choose groups by area or by interest, collect data and even create personalized messages. It saves time, and it's really convenient!
@@GrowWithWill Sure! One should always be careful. Facebook can easily ban an account for nothing at all lately, so it would be good to have a backup plan.

I've actually had a ton of success with Facebook marketplace! A couple of big moves lately have had unloading a bunch of unwanted clutter.

Usually things sold on Facebook Marketplace are sold as-is. In the future I'd make sure to state that in your listing too.

Do you know anything about facebook pay? Is it a secure protective method of paying the seller?
Eric yup. Facebook Pay is fine for paying a seller. I typically stick to Venmo and more recently have accepted Cash app since it’s super intuitive.
@@GrowWithWill If I use Venmo to pay the seller first I wouldn't get scammed? Buyer wants to get paid first before meeting to trade.
Eric your mileage may vary. In that sort of situation I’d review their profile to see what you think of their legitness, consider the price of the purchase (ie. If it’s $10 it’s not a huge deal), and then offer paying a small “deposit” to commit to buy, and then the rest after the sale is complete. I wouldn’t pay up front before meeting though. That seems questionable. I have had buyers of things pay me ahead of time but it’s mostly been when they’re literally an hour away and not a few days before.

Eric yes, typically. I like Venmo as most people have it here in the States at least. Cash app is growing in popularity as well.

You'll probably need to wait a bit and build up your reputation a bit on FB before they loosen that up.

Hello, I was asked to provide my ssn info. cause my sales amount reached $599. I submitted my ssn and been told will get confirmation from FB up to 2 business days, it's been 3 days and still didn't hear anything back from FB. Now my listings are only available for local pickup, and my previous sales $ are pending.. have you ever been asked to provide ssn to FB? If yes, how long it's been take to get confirmation from FB? Thank you in advance.
I have not had that ask come up before. I don’t use Facebook’s payment option very often vs. Venmo or Cash app. Facebook can be tough to get in touch with. Your best bet is their help articles. Best of luck!

Thanks for your video! My question is a bit different. How do other sellers do it when receiving payment on fb if the account is under a nickname that is not their legal name/last name? I know you need to link your bank account which I did, and I know you can create a fb account without using your legal name/last name. So I was able to list my items for local
Pick up/meet up with no issue. And later gave me the “offer shipping” option I clicked on it and it did the change and It asked for my legal name and lastname for my bank account / shipping from info. I have entered the info. Then the next day I got my account disabled. It asked to show my face and move in diff angles and submit it to fb to make sure I’m a real person, so I did that verification process. My account is enabled now which is good, but my banking info/ shipping from info is deleted. Can you please help me, thanks!

You make some very good suggestions...I wish anyone who wants to sell on FB Marketplace or any other sale platform would be required to watch a video like this...some listings I come across are just the worst; terrible, dark picture, not pictures as you suggest, but picture, one freaking picture! Hi Andrea, if you need to slow down the video, you can hit the gears button in the video player and slow it down to the speed that’s good for you!
In terms of rating someone, I don’t have experience doing it on a computer since I always do it on the app. I’m sure you can find the flow to be similar where if you mark something as sold, it’ll prompt you on the computer to share more about when it was sold.

I was getting no clicks on my PC that was listed up for $250. It sells for roughly that on eBay. I dropped the price all the way down to $50 just to see if I'd get any responses, and nope. Not a single click lol I did everything you suggested too.

I have reviewed my postings on marketplace and I don't see where they can click and message me. I repeated the posting process and again I don't see the messaging. What do I need to do?
Not sure what you mean; once it's gone live they'll be able to directly message if interested on the listing. Otherwise, you may find it helpful to have a friend try to find your listing.

Yeah sometimes listings take time. In those situations I mostly just relist until they are sold. Following up with prospective buyers is important though, as you mentioned.

Not sure I follow -- but would check out Facebook's FAQ. You usually just link a pay to place like Paypal to get paid.
I'm older and don't worship my phone like you kids. I might be in the yard or something for hours with my phone inside. I've had people that seem to be upset if I don't reply to their message in a minute or two, then they block me or something...

Potential buyers will always low ball if they are that style of buyer, regardless of what you write in the description.

Hope u have an answer to this: I am selling things from my home, etc., not as a business. I don’t want it to show on my personal feed. I have even read Facebook for Dummies, no solution.
The listings you sell from your personal account will only show if people that are friends with you happen to search for what you listed. It wouldn’t show up in your personal feed.
They don't make it easy for you to buy, they don't even respond to you!

Thanks for the video! I would like to share one more way to improve business communication on facebook. I mean more automation. Built-in features aren't always enough, and they are often far too complicated to adjust. There are simple apps (like Cucomm, for example) that allow you to send mass messages or automatically add friends on Facebook. You can choose groups by area or by interest, collect data and even create personalized messages. It saves time, and it's really convenient!
Careful w/ those automations. They aren't always friendly and can get you banned.
@@GrowWithWill Sure! One should always be careful. Facebook can easily ban an account for nothing at all lately, so it would be good to have a backup plan.

hi! I am planning to sell few of my gadgets, few people after I listed my products messaged me and shown sign of Interests. What if they are really interested and I choose paypal as their payment method to transfer the money, how would I be sure that the buyer is legitimately paid the item? Should I wait until the money has been successfully transferred to my paypal account before I ship the item? I have fear that they will just send fake email message stating they have sent the money to my account when in reality they haven't. How would I know it was a genuine payment transaction? Is there a specific statement that Paypal always say if money is legitimately transferred to my account? Please help me I would really appreciate your help. Thank you!
PayPal typically is more buyer friendly than seller friendly. I'd tread carefully. Not sure you'll be able to wait for the money to fully transfer before you need to ship it. Just look for the official PayPal transaction confirmation.

She asked for my Bank acct #, full name and email address? For me giving the email address info has nothing to do with money transfer. Is she trying to scam me? I am really scared to give out my bank details. I really don't know if I just give out my bank details without any security assurance.
