I'm half way through this video and wow.... this is a conversation I needed to hear. Over the past couple of years, I feel like I've been drifting with my knitting. I'm knitting everyday but it feels a bit robotic. I'm currently in the process of slowing down and evaluating what knitting means to me. I've actually deactivated my instagram and am trying to go back to my roots with knitting. Just really sit with my project for the process and not the product, regardless of how long it takes. No need to bust out 40 projects when I can have 3 beautiful ones that I really connected with.

Great episode. I have knits that look beautiful when finished but not on me. Kristen thank you for sharing your journey. It certainly gave me ideas to ponder

Enjoyed this episode! I can relate to the knits piling up that were a joy to knit but does not get wear and taking up room in drawers and closets. Looking forward to part 2.❤

Miss your blog Kristen ! It gave me so much joy and inspiration. Yours was the first blog I discovered all those years ago, it opened a whole new world to me. Thank you so much. I was sad when you stopped but so thrilled when I found you back on Instagram. ❤

    Such a wonderful conversation!
One of the things that really resonated was Kristen voicing her thoughts that it couldn’t possibly be the clothes that aren’t right, it’s got to be me! We’ve all been there! Thanks for helping me begin to see through that and moving towards more intentional knitting choices.
Thank you. Looking forward to part 2 very much!

My sister’s old boss was a wonderful man, he used to say about Jamie, “she’s a grown ass woman” (in the most loving and affirming way). Well, Kristen is a grown ass woman too. It’s exciting!

Yes, Yes, Yes. Thank you, dear ladies for this discussion of our retreat. I have been percolating the ideas, experience, feelings, and the amazement, ever since February. It was a such startling, and glorious journey. And as Kristen said, not something that we really knew would happen! But as she shared, now it's not been about the Sweater, but about the Me. I am amazed when I step out in a colour that would have terrified me previously, and I feel so joyous. And oddly, it also has stopped me from mad productivity, into a peaceful phase. Oh, yes, Part Two please!

I am so inspired to edit my wardrobe and knits. First to notice what feels right when wearing. Then to purge what doesn't.

💚 this whole conversation. So many of your stories and discussions I’m nodding away here to them. I too have been knitting since child hood and have culled and given away knits about every 10 years. There’s been years in my life where I just knit greys, blacks and whites. Because that’s where my life is at. Other years it’s all the stripes or all the colourwork!!
Now it’s more comfortable and what I want to be wearing for this stage of my life.
    💚 loved this conversation 💚

This was just the best. I now need to watch it again and take notes! It hit the aha button on so many levels. Thank you to you both for speaking so deeply on the subject of wearing and really living the wearing. I now have some changes to make and a new way to go forward in my making❤

❤ so accurate and honest. Thank you! I started knitting the same way. Not considering colour or fibre content. As soon as I started thoughtfully considering those things and pattern suitability my practice changed. Definitely felt that shift and it just happened to be at 50! Coincidence? I am beginning to think not! Great podcast! Choosing colours continues to be a struggle. I think I need to attend the next one!

I’ve given away over half of what I have made, and then adjusted and frogged some others. I’ve had so much fun knitting all the interesting things but the last little while after another huge clear out, I’ve been more focused on being disciplined in the area of what I want to wear. Everything was beautiful but just not me or I knew I’d always choose something else so that was hard to realise 😣😕 if I tried it on in a store I would have said lovely but not for me. I’ve always been about comfort, I need to put my clothes on and feel totally safe, secure and relaxed in them, so that I can go about enjoying my day as carefree as possible. My knitting started to bind me up because I felt a responsibility in wearing what I had made, it took me a while to realise this and let those ones find new homes. Sometimes I knit for the experience knowing it may not be ME but even that has caught me off guard and one of my curious knits that I thought I wouldn’t wear has turned out to be one of my favorite styles.
I make my own pants so I’m lucky there but I do not currently own a pair of jeans I love 😢 going jeans shopping is more than I can handle, not finding my ME jeans is stupidly upsetting for me so this is this winters mission - then I’ll buy 3 pairs 🤭😂
I adore midlife, thank you for the thoughtful podcast, I look forward to part two, Karen 🥰

Thank you for sharing your ‘interior’ knitting experiences with us. It was very generous of you both. While at Rhinebeck this year I was hoping to meet two people, both of you. I did meet you, which was lovely, and quick because, well, it’s Rhinebeck! But this was the conversation I really wanted to have with you. And now I feel I’ve gotten to know this knitting life you live…there are no coincidences, I think😊

Interior - that’s it. In this visual practice, so much is informed by what you can’t see.

Enjoyable. It was like being a listener at the table. 🥰I look forward to having my color’s evaluated. I was a color consultant for make up in the early 80’s. I don’t think you can truly color drape yourself. I recently used an app on my phone and it gave me a different season with three different selfies in good lighting. The app showed constant results but different than I have thought. I need a professional😘🧐. My sister and daughter are warm tone and I freely gift my sweaters that don’t hit the mark.

So many wonderful things.....but I'll pick one to comment on....I feel so validated! Just like Kristen, if you physically came out of my body or I came out of yours, I'll knit for you. Yes, I've made things for friends, friend's babies, some cousin's kids, my husband(once). If you're not in those 1st two categories it probably won't happen. 🤣 But if it does happen, I LOVE you. ❤

Really great chat/ discussion super easy to listen to and relate. It’s not about the clothes exactly it’s what you said “ how they make us feel”.Yes please talk pants. For every pants then we need shoes. ( we need a virtual Mario). I think the colour is fascinating. We all have an idea if what colours suit us but don’t pay attention to what exactly the type is. I used to buy yarn because I loved the colour or was on sale. Annoying at first to realize hmm I have a lot of the wrong/ non flattering colors but going forward a game changer. Now I think ahead. If we have something really love can always wear our best color closer to face and still wear it. I still have a cardigan that I know is not my color but really like it…
