    • @dp6970
      @dp6970 5 років тому +58

      Lil dude from across the street No, not really. I’m comparing the mental and psychological aspects of an addicts mind. Addicts typically go from one extreme to another, because their brain craves that neurological feeling (dopamine). Typically, addicts that go from drugs to religion don’t just go to church and read the Bible from time to time. Have you ever noticed that? They dive headfirst into religion and go extreme. The same idea can apply to the addict mind in response to drugs. Obviously right? Steve-o is a PERFECT example.👍🏽 However, steve-o doesn’t appear to be one of the those addicts that went from drugs to extreme religion. Anyway, my initial comment was simply a COMPARISON of the two in regard to the addicts brain.🧠

Sex is not as fun as I thought. I think love sounds more fun. I'll find someone else eventually who understands where I am coming from when it comes to sex + love perspective, pov, etc. I have high standards, not high maintenance just picky + selective. As long as you take sex+ love in a healthy, positive, way of course most important.

    Steve-O is a great guy. He's hitting the wall of mortality. Middle-age. I did that a long time ago in my forties. Back then I was thinking, "Woah, this ride DOES HAVE a time stamp on it. What I do with my body can affect or shorten that timestamp. I was to experience love and fun with what time I have left." Facing mortality is a scary thing. I'm now 66. I'm in good health and I don't give a shit. But, I understand that abusing myself with anything harmful or wreckless is just stupid. So, I just don't do it anymore. Sounds like Steve is maturing and facing the reality of aging. That's a great thing. Old, mellow, and wiser is NOT a bad place to be.

    It is clear that Steve-O has an addictive personality. I get that, there's a genetic predisposition to have something like that. Of course on top of that there are a lot of psychological issues that he had/has to deal with, but from his explanation that seems pretty clear. Every time he tackled an addiction, a new one would pop up. Very useful testimony, I would love to talk for hours with this guy.

    I have a lot of respect for Steve-O. I grew up watching Jackass like a lot of others who know about him did, but I wasn't ever a big fan at the time. Not to say I disliked him, but I enjoyed Jackass as more of a collective identity. But listening to him speak now, and in the more recent past, there is an overwhelming sense of unabashed authenticity that makes me respect him. I appreciate how he speaks on this topic, and his sense of self-awareness in how he goes about doing so. I think he has the potential to do great things for others who are currently suffering from addiction. Not that he needs to become some symbol of addiction, or even an advocate, but that the clarity in his storytelling alone could be the voice of reason for those who may not actively be seeking it.

      No matter the approach, as long as the addict sees himself as the victim rather than the most important factor in coming clean, it's not gonna end well.
      Some addicts get stuck in the "I cannot help it due to ..." Which actually screws them over. They sometimes play the addition is hereditary card and it does not help them at all.
      Put simply, showing too much compassion towards them enables them to stay addicted sometimes.
