You have explained how to paint a leaf the best out of all the videos I've watched! Thank you! Also, thanks so much for explaining that it's actually a straight line and you don't actually curve your hand when doing a leaf, and I love you showing the stem and how your hand stays still and you just pivot your elbow. I didn't know either of those!
You are an incredible teacher - thanx for the details on holding the brush, adding pressure, releasing, and maintaining a straight line - NOW I understand how to paint a leaf! thanx to you!
Thank you for saying leaves are hard to do. I am not a painter of any kind and I chose watercolor because it looks easy. I see it takes practise and time. Thank you, love your videos
I'm so glad I found you! You truly teach! I love that you go through every single brush stroke on these leaves. I'm having so much fun practicing them! Thank you!
I’m just getting started with painting after not painting for 40 years! Never tried watercolor! I’m setting up my supplies the same as yours as a gift to myself! I think I’m gonna love this!! Thank you to your attention to details when you are instructing anything, be it supplies or how to paint a whale to practice exercises! You’re very good!!❤️❤️
Welcome back to the hobby! 😁 I could never 'wrangle' watercolours and also gave it up for years, but now it's my favourite medium. I hope that happens for you too. 😊
Thank you for this! I have been struggling with leaves and so appreciate you saying it's not easy and that it takes patience! This helped so much! I will keep on trying and get that muscle memory!
I am learning and so appreciate this video and how you talk about beginner mistakes. It’s so important to recognize what you’re doing wrong as you learn how to do it correctly. I also love how you made it a mechanical motion over moving the brush like it’s flexible. It’s in my arm and elbow as much as the bristles and (stalk?) of the brush. Thank you so much. Over the course of this video, my leaves improved substantially.
So I love your videos, a lot, I learn so much and the pace is nice... If I'm honest the sticky sound that happens when lift you hand off the page is making crazy, LOL... it hard to get into it.
I really really have enjoyed watching your wonderfull tuition.I am a beginner and need to watch several times to get that CLICK moment. I am waiting on some new brushes .I have been trying with some old brushes that are starting to loose their bristles . Thank you for sharing your knowledge Cheers RAEWYN
You're a genius! My whole watercolour career (of three months) has been ocean animals because I fail at florals, leaves and anything with fur but this makes so much sense and even showed me what I was doing wrong (curving the bottom stroke because it felt like I was supposed to). Now that I can paint a leave, all I gotta figure out is flowers. And... fur. And landscapes... Maybe I'll do some whales with leaves first. Work my way up.
Magical stuff there! I am just starting out and wonder a couple of things. Is the paper dry? I don't see what you are doing with the glass of water. Looks like you switch color super-fast with same brush, or are you swapping? You go from green to red and back to green instantly with just a small dip in the glass, should be some contamination. Sorry for noob stuff
Thanks Jenna. I can paint the leaves pretty well. My main problem is that I don’t know where exactly to attach them. Do you have a tutorial that can help with that? Sometimes I ruin good florals with awkwardly placed leaves, and I have fits. Btw, I ordered the 12 W&N watercolor tubes in your palette. Their coloring is great for the florals which I love. It was a semi-sinful expenditure, but all for art's sake! Thanks again for all you share with us.
I don't understand your comments at 3:00 about creating a leaf shape that is straight on one side and curved on the other. How does pulling the brush straight across not make both sides curve?
This looks great but my problem is that I am left handed and must reverse your strokes in my mind in order to achieve same results. Its awkward right now.

Thank you thank you for REAL TIME AND keeping SLEEPY MUSIC low.
Very nicely done.
Wow, this is so much harder than it looks! 1000 leaves and I like about three of them so far! 😂 Ok, time to knock out another 1000 😜

Thank you so muchhhh! Needed this💜💜
What size brush are you using? I’m using a number two round brush, but seems like I might need to use a different one.
How do you do the rose leaf edges?
I don't understand your comments at 3:00 about creating a leaf shape that is straight on one side and curved on the other. How does pulling the brush straight across not make both sides curve?
Great 👍

Where can I find the complete tutorials???
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! Rose leaves have been horrible for me
