Oh Myyyy!! I couldn't focus on what you were saying. I was glued to your beautiful face! You look like an angel- a beautiful painting from heaven..OH ok...what was that you were saying? the number 6 brush..ok ...focus!!! focus!!
Omg I love you. 😂 Your watercolour tutorials are filled with such natural humour and energy, and not only that, but they are SO EASY to follow along with. You are just the tutor I have been searching for!!
I love love your tutorials, please keep the bloopers in, your personality is a joy and it helps me to take a relaxed approach to watercolour...because I’m a beginner! Thank you 🙏 🥰
I do enjoy watching others teach how to make simple shapes become something! You do a wonderful job making basic techniques easy to understand and get wonderful results! Nicely done, Thanks!
I am so happy to find your channel! I have been going through cancer treatment for the last 8 months and needed something creative to do to pass the time. You're teaching style is so easy to follow and fun. I am a newbie to painting and I have become obsessed! Thank you for sharing your beautiful talents!
Aw Karen! I hope you’re feeling better and on the up swing!!! The Rainey’s are pulling for a strong recovery. We’re (my husband is the video guy) so happy to have these tutorials for you to inspire and teach! Take care! ❤️
I just started watercoloring. My dad was a famous artist and sadly, I had no interest in art and he passed away before I discovered that I liked to paint. Thank you so much for this detailed class. I learned more from you than any other tutorial Ive watched. You’re my teacher now, thank you so much!
Hi Jenna, found your tutorials on UA-cam and was then very lucky to find a hardcopy of your Everyday Watercolor book at an online shop in South Africa ... so excited to do the daily challenges. Thanks for sharing your work and lessons so freely. Hope that when lockdown ends that we will be able to get hard copies of your second book in SA.
I love your tutorial! I'm 10 min in but what I've learned so far will already make such a huge difference to my work. I'm excited to try out these techniques.
💐 awesome to watch this as I am on this chapter of C and S curves in your book, which I'm loving. You're such a great teacher, don't know why you don't have hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
Aw, thanks so much Liz! I appreciate your kindness. I just started this channel about a year ago, so I'm just getting videos out there and we'll see how far it goes! ❤️❤️❤️
Great video, Jenna. Just discovered your channel. I'm a beginner with watercolor. I have your Daily Watercolor book and would love to see those daily lessons come to life here on UA-cam. Looking forward to learning more.
Thanks Mitch! I really appreciate your kind words and support!! I'll be coming out with tons more watercolor tutorials and technique videos, as well as illustration and calligraphy videos!
Hey Jenna! I’m so happy you posted this video because I thought I was the only one that struggled with leaves! They seem like the easiest thing to do but it’s one of my biggest challenges. Thank you for these videos! 🍃
I just stumbled on your UA-cam channel last night. This morning I just realized about your book “Everyday Watercolor”........which I purchased last year and love. I’m only about half way through. Looking forward to your videos and purchasing the other book which I didn’t realized you had.
Definitely managing the stem is what’s tough for me. I’ll have a nice thin line then bloop it up with a little wonky wiggle wiggle, so it isn’t smooth. Then I have to thicken the entire line which is no bueno. Or I’ll have some nice natural leaf action going and then my arm gives out and creates a nice rectangle leaf that sticks out like a sore thumb. Thank you for this series!! I have your book, I’m just a very visual person, so these videos help tremendously.
Hahaha, I love "wonky wiggle wiggle," that's great. Sometimes we just need to embrace those wonky wiggles -- nature isn't always so smooth! Keep up that practice and I know you'll only get better! Thanks for watching and the support! xo
Hey jenna, I just had the thought " what if there was a watercolor paper workbook to go along with everyday watercolor?" Thought it would be awesome to have basic sketches and practice drills for muscle memory purposes. And also a great marketing idea. LOL I struggle with basic sketching and thought I would be good if I had a practice sheet just to get used to sketching, lines, compound stroke, S curves, & C curves. Just a thought I wanted to share. Thanks for all the great tutorials and tips in your videos that go along with your book, they are a great big help.
“Jy is so oulik” translation you are sooooo adorable Jenna I love the bloopers. Watching this Feels like I’m sitting across the table from a friend 🌷nabeelah I’ve ordered the Princeton size 6 🤤
@Jenna Rainey these are SUPER videos. Challenge after 10 pages (still) at the end of the leaf, any style, Im endin up with a blob when I take the brush off the page. I dont notice the in other strokes. Too much water? More pigment? the paint is thick-almost opaque (you really used light and dark washes). Any suggestions?
Great question! Sounds like there's too much water. Try less water and make sure to wipe your brush on the lid of your cup before painting. Also, if you have a paper towel, you can lift some of the excess water you didn't want. Or you can try taking your brush, drying it off on your paper towel and lifting the water with your dry brush (and repeat until puddle is gone). Hope that helps!
Hey there, I don't have a brush like yours and can't get one now (lockdown). Do you have any advice on how it compares to what I have? I have Winsor and Newton professional round in size 4 and 2 Silver brush in 2, 4 and 8 And Princeton snap in all sizes. Which would you consider the closest, if you've had any experience with these? 🌸
Hi Jenna, big fan of your book EVERYDAY WATERCOLOR!!! So glad that you have made these videos on UA-cam, I’m very looking forward for your future tutorials😁
The best tutorial I’ve ever seen. So excited to finally improve my LOVE of drawing leaves to now paint them! Thank you. Do you have an on-line course. I’m ready to sign up!
Hey Lesley! Wow, I am SO glad you learned so much and enjoyed this tutorial! Thanks for sharing. I DO have a couple online courses, actually. My passion is educating creatives on how to earn an income from their art -- whether it's full-time or a part-time! You can learn more about the two classes I have out now by clicking these links: jennarainey.com/shop/pen-to-press/ and jennarainey.com/brand-plus-brand/ -- and I have a couple more courses currently in the works! I hope these are helpful for you!
Despite hours and hours of practicing leaves - with your same brush, paper, and paint, I cannot get a consistently good leaf!! Now, the water ratio video was a HUGE help on improving this. But still, the area where I push the brush down (to make the fat part of the leaf) always looks MUCH lighter than the tips - and not in a cute way. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
