- UPDATE How is it holding up?
I’ve had a lot of questions about how it’s holding up. I think overall it has held up very well. It has gotten a couple of nicks and scratches here and there, but nothing too noticeable. The main issue with it being white is staining. If coffee or dark liquids do not get wiped right away they will stain the counter. It’s not a dark stain, but still there. I have yet to try to remove them with a magic eraser. I still have paint leftover so at some point I will touch them up. I want to clarify that this is a budget fix. It’s not as good as just getting new counters. But I think it is the perfect solution if you have cheap outdated counters that you want to spruce for cheap. Overall I am still very satisfied with my project and I would still recommend it if you are looking for a budget friendly fix to an ugly counter top problem.

Very pretty and super affordable. I love when people update a kitchen on a budget and it turns out so beautiful and bright. Enjoy your new kitchen updates thanks for sharing.
The previous owners of our house used a kit to paint the countertops and we are now dealing with the clearcoat peeling up in various areas. Going to try the Rustoleum paint a shot after we strip them down. Great vid. Awesome job.
Wow I didn’t know you could paint countertops! This looks really nice!
Just wanted to say thanks for this video! I followed your instructions on my countertops. I found that they took almost 2 weeks to fully cure, but now they are solid and they look amazing. Thanks for sharing the idea! :)
How are yours holding up?
@@jessicadavis16 So far, I made one small touch-up for a chip about a centimeter wide, but otherwise excellent!
@@stefaniewind5389 great, what caused the chip? do you know? I am about to dive in and buy the paint!! ;)
@@JesiDavisBuildingaSimplerLife No, I'm not sure. Sorry :(
How does it hold up to stains?
Looks gorgeous. I'm using this as inspiration for my bathroom counter. I would however sand first then do the soap and water wash as I've found in my restorations it lasts longer not to have any remanence of dust left before painting
I absolutely love white too! What a neat idea!!! I am actually just headed out to get paint and rollers to refinish my dining room table, chairs and dresser. Great job!!!:) I love DIYS!!!:)
Curious to know how it's holding up
It is holding up well. My biggest issue is that the white does stain. Coffee in particular if it doesn’t get wiped right away will leave a stain. I have yet to try a magic eraser. I can always touch it up with the leftover paint.
Wondering if you could put a clear urethane coating over it. Something that is clear but makes it durable.
@@sweetmagnolias1698 try coconut oil, a magic eraser will take the shine from it
Very beautiful and the countertops look good too.
Looks much better than before . I know this video is 3 years old but how is it holding up?
I love it white on white looks luxurious....
Looks amazing! Would love to do it on my countertops. Two questions: 1. Any problems other than cofee stain?
2. How is the smell like? It is winter for me now. Do you think I should wait till spring as I cannot open the windows? I painted my cabinets walls, and backsplash. Only thing left is countertops. Cannot wait to try this.
Thanks for sharing
How is it holding up now ? I want to do this but cant afford to replace the countertops at the moment ! I love the all white tops !
This looks amazing! What a transformation! I love the white!😍✨
I know this is an old video but I came across it and I thought this would be a great idea to try.. but I want to know if it’s still holding up cos I really love what you did..
Check out Jedi Davis on UA-cam, she has updates on her counter tops

That is a great tip ! I appreciate your prompt reply. Thank you so much! 🧚🏻♀️
It looks amazing!
Looks great!! Thanks for the nail polish tip.
Omg my kitchen has the exact same backsplash and counter! It’s soooo ugly so I’m glad I found this! I tried using that marble contact paper but it was too hard lol
Hello, thank you for thi video, I was also looking to resurface my counter top. You did a great job and it looks nice and clean!
Just wanted to know if the paint is durable? Cracking? Chipping? Any marks of any kind?
Cracking and chipping has not really been a problem. But the white does stain so I would recommend finding a food safe top coat. I didn’t do that and I think if I had it wouldn’t stain so much
I didn't see anything wrong with it from the beginning. I so wish I had your original counter tops than what I have.
Just wondering how it’s held up. I’m thinking about doing it.
Nice! This looks so great! I really love the white on white
What about those paint runs from the backsplash, with the 1st coat ? I would have thought you would have smoothed those out.
You did an amazing job! What is the brand of the roll you used to paint it? 🥰 thank you for sharing your project with us.
If you have an expensive paint brush and it gets hard like that...soak it in warm water with half cup of clothes softener. The next day, rinse and leave to dry. It works. I've done this to my good brushes so many times.
I love it!!! I really want to try this. How is it holding up?
I just did the same thing to my counters and even though I had some user error with the application I still love it. I have cats, though, and I cannot keep them off the counter. Now I realize how much dang hair they drop - cat walks by, leaves a bunch of tail feathers behind... Oh well, maybe this will inspire me to keep things cleaner. Hah.
I LOVE how this turned out! Great job! 💜
I think it looks really nice and sleek!
This looks amazing!! Thank you for sharing!!
Nicely done!!! Thank you for sharing!
I love the white tot. I wonder if using a shellac based primer would add to the durability.
It came out beautiful! I'm painting mine a light blue but I have to do it white first yours is perfect 💕💞💕
Thank you for sharing this. Can the product you used be tinted?
The white made it so nice and bright!
To change it up you can always do different pops of colors with decor!
This looks wonderful and bright!.💖
Wouldn't a gloss finish solve the stain issues?
Looks beautiful ! Great job!
Great video. Do you have any links to alternative paint that can be used for this project that's available on amazon? The one in the link is no longer available there :(
How does that paint stand up against water and heat
Hi there! You didn't use a primer or top coat, just the paint you linked? What grain of sand paper did you use? Thanks so much!
Hannah S I only used the paint I linked. It took three coats to cover completely but I don’t feel a primer was necessary. The appliance paint seem to do the job. I’m not sure the grain of sandpaper. I just used some my dad left over😂 You just need something to rough it up a little so the paint will stick better!
Do you think this would work with some epoxy/resin over the top to seal it and be able to clean it?
I love the all white. Your counters look so good. I wonder if that paint would be good for my kitchen table? 🤔
Karina Mama Life it definitely covers well! I was wondering how it would do on furniture! I have a dresser that is going to be difficult to paint I was considering trying it on.
Could you do a video of the update on the cabinets?
Looks beautiful, thanks for sharing.
My 1950s kitchen that got updated in the 80s would have loved to have the blue/grey countertop….😢I have purple freckled countertops 😭 with creamy oatmeal cupboards.
Great!!
january 2022..how is it holding up..did u seal it
Beautiful! I've got 60's blue laminate and I'm so doing this!
Did you need a paint primer?
after the third coat, did you put a urethane coat on after that? Looks great.
Wondering how it stands up to cleaning sprays.
I used this method and have had no problem with cleaning sprays.
@@stefaniewind5389 has it chipped or peeled a lot?
@@GuapoAJ Nope!
I use natural cleaning solutions and I’ve had no problems whatsoever
Hey, thanks for the Bible verse at the end. I subscribed solely because of that❣️
I couldn’t tell, what did you use for sealing?
Hi!❤️ I did not use a sealer, but I definitely would if I did it again! I feel like it needs something that would protect it from stains.
Love it! Can you use regular counter cleaner on it?
Your countertops originally are Formica. I’m almost finished marbling mine(Formica also)
Hi! I was curious. Is it heat resistant? I have a small toaster oven and wanted to know if this would do well under heat
I have not had any trouble with heat. I use a toaster all the time and it doesn’t seem to affect it.
@@sweetmagnolias1698 thank u!
I love how it turned out! The white louvered door cabinet- is that built-in or did you buy it somewhere? I'm looking for something like that! TIA!
The corner hutch? Or the pantry?
I'm looking to paint our bathroom counter and wanted white, but I noticed in your finished product there are some roller marks, did you sand between coats? Was it required or ?
I did not sand between coats. I don’t know if roller marks can be avoided, but there is a spray version of this paint so if you wanted to avoid marks the spray version might be a better option!
It looks great!
what sandpaper did you use? and how many coats of paint did you use
Looks awesome!!
Have you run into any problems with it other than coffee staining after 10 months? I bought the same paint and I’m about to do mine after watching your video
Have you run into any issues? My wife and I are thinking of doing this as well.
Thought it was lovely but that curtain on the cupboard spoilt it
Icouldn't get past that curtain either. A piece of plywood, rout the edges, slap some paint on it, add door pulls. Bam
How is this holding up without any sealer?
How many cans did you use for 3 coats?
Beautiful job! Did 1 quart cover everything?
Yes, with some left over!
Looks great! Just wondering -- how is it holding up?
Very nicely! A few scratches here and there but nothing very noticeable.
@@sweetmagnolias1698 Thanks :)
Hi is the paint heat proof
Looks beautiful 😊
Love it ! I might do to mines ,thanks.
How has this held up since applying? Would you recommend a polyurethane coat for added durability?
Lindsey Matruder it has held up well! I’ve gotten a couple scratches from sitting something on the surface. I did not add a polyurethane, but you could do that for some added protection!
Water based poly doesnt yellow. Oil based does
It’s epoxy it has everything in it you need you don’t need anything extra
And if you let it cure for at least four days before you put anything on the counter you will be just fine
How’s it holding up by now? Usually it takes several days to cure!
Thanks for making this! I just finished mine at 7:30 at night. Should I wait till morning or until tomorrow night to put things back on counters?
See how it is in the morning. I was able to put my stuff back the following morning! But if it feels tacky I would wait till evening.
@@sweetmagnolias1698 thanks so much!
Why are you guys rushing the process you shouldn’t even be putting anything on your counter until about three or four days later until it totally cures
@@tracyb3198 thanks for this comment a year later lol
This looks great
Also curious how this held up.....wouldn’t recommend this honestly but to each is own
It is holding up well. My biggest issue is that the white does stain. Coffee in particular if it doesn’t get wiped right away will leave a stain. I have yet to try a magic eraser. I can always touch it up with the leftover paint.
This was my “budget fix” to my ugly counters. I love the way it turned out. It wasn’t a big deal to me since I didn’t like the existing ones anyway.
Did you get any brush strokes with the roller? Can you tell it’s painted on? I am thinking about doing this not sure if to get the spray can or the same one you are using here.
Also any issues with it around the stove area?
My stove isn’t fixed in the counters.
Unless you were to know it was painted and stare really close you wouldn’t know. The roller marks weren’t very noticeable. The spray probably does a nicer finish, but I didn’t want all that spray al over everything in my kitchen.
Would this work on wood?
May I know after you painted the white, do you need to have any extra coating for finishing?
No because it’s epoxy
How much paint did you use?
💛
Those it feel sticky when you clean it
Looks great!
Great Music! Who is it by please?
The old black counter tops don't match brown floors its a good thing she went with white
You’ve inspired me. Fuck my security deposit, I’m off to Home Depot.
😂😂
Love the scripture Philippian 4:8
Good job
Do you have to have strong ventilation
I had all of my windows open in the kitchen. That was sufficient.
@@sweetmagnolias1698 thank you
Amazing job!!!! 👍
How long between each coat?
The can says it. I believe it’s 15 mins.
Hi, the worktop looks amazing! Just want to know how the worktop is doing? Have you had any problems with it like scratches or peeling etc? Anything noticeable? Thanks
It’s holding up pretty well! A few nicks here and there but nothing too noticeable. I am going to do another video reviewing it soon!
Good job but the color goes if you use water after a while
I have not experienced this.
how long did you wait between coats?
I didn’t time. I just waited until I could put my hand on it without paint coming off. Then I did the other coat.
@@sweetmagnolias1698 thanks this helps.
How neat:)
Looks great ! How long did you wait between applying the three coats of paint ?
Just until the surface was dry enough for me to lay my hand on it without the paint coming off.
How are they holding up?

I think you are talking as you do the countertops, but all I could hear was some kind of loud music?? I would lose the music so that hard of hearing people can hear you talk about your process.
I was not talking during the time lapse. That is why I filled with music.
