- FINDING GOLD IN RIVERS AND CREEKS AFTER WINTER FLOODS!!
In this video I return to a river to have a go at finding gold in one of my favourite creeks after winter floods.
I sniped gold in this location last year and prospected 13g of gold in a single day. Its been 12months since I've been to this location and I’m hoping the winter and spring floods may have replenished the gold back into two very rich crevices that I worked on the first trip. The stakes are high the adventure has just begun stay tuned!!

As an avid diver I’m always amazed that you can hump to your snipping spots wearing the wetsuit without heat stroke. Another first class vid Levi, well done.
Cheers mate yeh we do cook a bit but they’re not to bad although saying that we did 12ks in them today and Robs legs were all chaffed and we certainly cooking on the last hill

Hey hope your all doing well, what’s been your experience with floods and gold have you found gold in places you’ve previously worked after floods? Does the gold replenish after winter floods or does it take a major flood. Would love to hear your thoughts on the subject.
Yeah it takes a pretty big event to really move some dirt.
I'm glad you covered this 👍! There are so many variables along with flooding....how old is the original deposit and has the flow and gold line changed since the original deposit? Was there an obstruction ahead of the crevice that is gone now or vice-versa? Here's the biggest head game that'll never make it clear......did someone beat you back there and got 10 grams?🤯 Great job getting in there!
By testing and experimenting we can come to know with certainty about things we otherwise theorize and conjecture about. Often our beliefs are confirmed, but even better when we discover we were wrong to think a particular way... what better way to discover a better path and to see the world as it truly is? Test and experiment on that creek enough, and you will know it for certain better than anyone in the world. Maybe you already do.
Honestly never knew how beautiful little old tassie is and how much gold could be found till I started watching your channel! Need to start venturing out of launceston 🙊

Pretty damn good day Levi!! I agree, we need more serious flushes. i can stil go back to my pet spots and get some recovery but never the same as after the '93 and '97 floods in the north east of Vic. it was up in the trees back then!!

A worthy experiment for sure to recheck such a well formed natural sluice. If this next year has a decent flood it could even be fun to check again. It is a nice creek for sure, and you just proved there's still more to discover there. Cheers Levi!

Levi, I subscribe to a channel or two where a less than great day for you would be a bonanza for them. I think you’re fortunate to be where you are when you are. I can’t imagine what gold areas were like 150 years ago.

Congratulations with the amount of gold you've snipped.
Good luck to you brother. And upstream or Downstream you will find more gold in virgin areas that have never been sniped. One area produce good gold but one year later not much maybe 100 more years go to the areas that are untouched and you will find more. By the way your miners secret about the 44 Graham nuggets you found the texting is not embarrassing at all because you earned it and you certainly worked hard hiking hundreds of miles through the bush to find standards grave and Feingold so you may yet find a giant nugget in the river or Creek like 5 oz or something! Keep going brother I just got out of the Bush 5 days in the rain typhoon of Northern California and I got skunked I found it hundreds of micro specs and a few dozen flakes is all on the South Yuba River I will keep hunting I am going back! Never give up!
What a dream. I could spend all day in a creek or river. Wish i could find gold in the ones around here.
Just got back from panning a remote creek, looked really good but I pulled twelve grams of mercury, eight ounces of fishing weights, and .75 grams of gold. Was hoping there was gold tied into the Mercury, but no. Snookered again....sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you. Thanks as always for the video! 73
Oh man Mercury 😖 I guess that’s one thing I don’t have to deal with to much I should count myself lucky although fishing gear I find from time to time
@@officialtassieboysprospecting well I believe the Mercury I find is from the old timers, that weren’t too careful about spilling it, there is a whole lot less of it than when I was younger (lots of Nature groups have cleaned it up, and I use to do that with one of them [Sierra club before they became too political]). I even have a special snuffer bottle just for cleaning up Mercury when I find it. I try and be a good steward of the rivers and waterways of which I pan. I once found a whole bottle of Mercury in an old glass jar with a glass stopper like it had just been left there moments before. I took it to a local mining museum and the lady who was the curator, gave me $500.00 USD for it she said the bottle was worth about $200.00, and the Mercury was worth about $50.00, she said the rest was for being a good boy, (I thought she was going to give me some milk and cookies too, but she didn’t). I kind wish I still had it but, I was young and needed 500 more than a bottle of Mercury. Anyhow really appreciate your videos, and hope you have a wonderful year prospecting. Think we all could use a good year after the last one.

Some nice looking pieces mate great stuff, you’ll find the big nuggets just keep at it mate, detecting will be your biggest chance of a good size nugget I reckon, as always great quality mate 👍🏻
Yeh I think your right so far my largest has been with the detector and I’d only used it 3 times when I found it so I’ll definitely be doing more detecting soon
