Hey, Dave! Love everything you do here on the channel! I'm going to be doing something similar on my layout soon, except I'm in N Scale. Do you have any tips for miniaturizing the stuff you do to a much smaller scale? Can it just be done with direct conversions (e.g. a scale 8x8 would be about 1.25x1.25 mm in N scale)? Or is there anything special that I should be thinking about instead of just copying the techniques verbatim?
Well, at smaller scales, details tend to "fall off" toward the vanishing point. Things like the nut/bolt/washer castings for example become little more than dots. You can scale everything down no problem, just be aware that physical materials can only go so small before they become impractical. I encourage you to experiment!
I don't know for wood, but it seems perfectly feasible in styrene, with the added advantage that the cement will be stronger than tiny drop of glue. Styrene can be distressed in the same manner for making wood alike, just the painting is different.

@@pbyfr Yes, styrene is an excellent choice for the smaller scales. Easy to work with, can be distressed and weathered to look like wood, and no fuzz!
So does the Horse Thief and Nevermine Railway own both narrow gauge lines or are you just using the locomotives?
I'm just using them for now until I can get a couple of Calico engines built.

Not really. Then I would have needed to build the scenery around the bridges. I find this easier.
