    Why were people have trouble breeding the Phrixotrichus vulpinus?

    • @herbalterrorist420
      @herbalterrorist420 3 роки тому +2

      Maybe Because it appears it’s more of a wandering type spider an needs a wide big open area to move around in. He said the only ones they found hiding were with egg sacs so it seems they only stay in one spot when with egg sacs otherwise they stay on the move. If you keep them in small box for an enclosure they probably just die and also won’t breed.
      I don’t know how they have tried to keep them but I’d assume it’s probably the same way they keep all the other species. You maybe need a very very large enclosure. I don’t know tho this is jus my guess from watching the video.

      Thanks for your contribution! Sadly we don't know what they are missing - an in depth study on site would be necessary. But not even local hobbyist in Chile are able to reproduce them in captivity.

  • @SuperLoops

    the Phrixotrichus vulpinuses are so pretty in a way its good that they cant live in captivity it means theyre not worth collecting and ppl will leave them alone. but they are so pretty they look like fluffier and longer legs versions of my E parvulus

    • @kaanarslan9270
      @kaanarslan9270 3 роки тому

      Is it maybe because of the hight of the region?
      I remember that this is the case with some old world species

    • @SuperLoops
      @SuperLoops 3 роки тому

      @@kaanarslan9270 I dont think anyone actually knows the reason why they dont survive in captivity. it could be altitude or temperature or humidity or some preferred food but its just guesses

    • @birdspiders
      @birdspiders  3 роки тому +1

      they live right next to the sea, they are not present in high altitude regions

    Do you know what‘s going on with Phrixotrichus in captivity lately? I‘ve seen slings pop up for sale from a couple different breeders now, are those illegal exports or did someone actually manage to keep and breed them?

    • @birdspiders
      @birdspiders  Рік тому

      They are all illegal exports for sure. No one was able to breed them. They dont do well in capivity, my recommendation would be to not buy them

    I love your videos! Have you ever considered adding the latin binomials on the screen as you say them? I am unfamiliar with many of the genera and sp. that you are showing and sometimes struggle to understand what species you are showing. Thanks for considering, and keep up the great work!

    Fantastic job and it's very nice seeing you back. Any information on how to keep a paired Pterinopelma sazimai female so she will produce an eggsac? I'm trying to put some captive bred Sazmais back into the hobby where I live. Take care and message me on Facebook if you would. Thanks. Ibnsarachnids aka rob
