  • This tutorial video explains how to set up flaps for your plane on your RadioMaster TX16S
I purchased my TX16S from the Flying Robot Co in Cape Town. This is not an affiliate link but I want to share where you can get yourself a RadioMaster TX16S in South Africa.

Thanks again bill!.worked great!.I did have to go to zero on my offset to get the flaps to return flush to the wing. It all worked great on my 1300mm arrows bigfoot.I got tired of my old dx6i.I absolutely love this radiomaster!.After a few days and alot of videos i am very happy with it..Thank you for also doing the radio settings, not just the companion..

Hi Jerry, you need to orient the servos in your wings the correct way basically the servo arms facing the same way. Then you need a Mix for the flaps which will consist of 3 lines:
All Source = SC or whichever switch you choose.
      First Mix, flaps neutral:
      Weight -100
      Offset -100
      Switch SC (forward)
      Second Mix, flaps half
      Weight -100
      Offset -50
      SC (center)
      Mix Three, flaps full
      Weight -100
      Offset 0
      SC (back)
Will look at producing a video in the near future.

      Hi Lucien,
You need to set up a MIX on the next available channel let’s say 6 if you are using channel 5 for the second aileron servo. The source should be the elevator INPUT. Then change the Weight from Plus or Minus depending on the orientation of the servos in your model.

This is soohh useful Bill as I have a Tx16S and am about to modify my Gentle Lady Glider to have flaps as I fly in a small field and need to get the landings spot on.
Ie...no second chances to go round again ( trees)
I have watched several of your vids and am understanding companion more and more.
    Question please?
Say we have set up a bare bones model in companion and upon flying it , changes have to be made on the field to the actual tx.....how then do we get that edited/ changed criteria back to Companion so that both the Tx and Companion are reading the same page so to speak?...
I will take an educated quess for my homework.
    Turn on the Tx.
Insert the usb lead to Tx and Pc.
Select Storage on the Tx itself.
Then " read tx to companion"?
    Peter

Yes that’s correct open OpenTX Companion attach your radio to your computer then read models and settings. Once the models window opens click save and name your backup normally I use the date.

    Thanks for your video selection.
There is a current version of Firmware 2.3.11. I followed your video on backups, etc. I followed the write procedure and rebooted radio after flashing. When it booted up, I got the following message:
    SD Card version
    Expected version: 2.3V0035

When I go into system, I see the following:
    FW: opentx-tx16s
    VERS: 2.3.11-otx (4328055e)
    Date: 2021-01-08
    Time: 16:04:05
    EEPR: 219
OPTS: crossfire3, ghost, afhds3, internalmulti, multimodule, lua, luac
Any thoughts as to why the SD Card version warning?

    • @the-happy-RC-flyer
      @the-happy-RC-flyer  3 роки тому

Randall, you need to download the 2.3v0035 release of your SDCard contents and put them on your SDCard in your radio and you should be ok.
You need to download the latest version of the SDCard contents for your radio.
      www.open-tx.org/
Go to News and click the release you have, I suggest you updating your OpenTX to the latest version.
Scroll to the bottom to Downloads Links and click SDCard
Select your radio and download the zip file
If you DO NOT have any custom pictures, sounds or Lua scripts just unzip the downloaded file and copy them to your SDcard.
If you do have custom files please check out my video My Procedure For Updating SD Card Contents
      ua-cam.com/video/7YXfGNqSiMM/v-deo.html
If this is your first time updating the SDCard I would suggest you copy the original card contents to a folder on your computer before updating.

    • @the-happy-RC-flyer
      @the-happy-RC-flyer  3 роки тому

Randall once you have changed the model settings save the new Model & Radio settings to your computer by clicking File then Save you will now have a backup on your computer. Then with your radio connected to your computer click Read/Write and click Write Models and Settings To Radio your adjustments will now be sent to your radio. Just as a foot note you cannot send one model to the radio it has to be all the models and the radio settings.

I dont understand, why put in that Offset? Does the weight not change the throw of the flap?

    • @the-happy-RC-flyer
      @the-happy-RC-flyer  3 роки тому

You only want the flap to move in the middle position and stay there with the switch in the back position. If you remove the offset the mix will not work.
