This type of small, medium spec bike is exactly what I'm hoping is going to blow up big time. Any size of 4-seater car is too big for my needs, but a bicycle is a bit impractical for my commute, and mopeds/scooters are speed restricted to near useless and dangerous levels in my country, so small motorcycles are really the sweet spot. Energica, Livewire, and Zero are too expensive, and most of them too powerful for my commuting needs. It's a shame how Sondors are bumbling their metacycle with false promises and ridiculous mismanagement, but here's hoping Ryvid are going to churn out a line of strong products.
@@7996hobguy It's a great idea in theory, if your theory is simply about making a more efficient commuter, however in practice it makes too many compromises. The width is too carlike so it can't be parked like a motorcycle and can't split lanes, yet it has as little storage as a motorcycle. It also has to be built as a 3 wheeler because the US banned quadricycles. A better option would be something like a Renault Twizy or a Citroen Ami

Been following the Anthem for a while now, and have high hopes. Sondors dropped the ball, giving Ryvid the chance to be the first truly great success in this market segment. Great seeing Micah getting to be one of the early reviewers of this bike.
A stamped/folded metal frame fixed with mechanical fasteners is _also_ a cost-saving measure. Often that would be a criticism over a welded tubular frame.
It’s like how folded steel somehow became a selling point for Katanas, instead of a compensatory strategy for appalling Japanese metallurgy. If you just describe a negative with enough enthusiasm, it’s suddenly a positive.

Nice review Micah. But what you didn't point out was that the bike will also be able to use public chargers using the J1772. This means that one can almost double his range. The box type frame will be able to attach various storage compartments as well as the central box of the frame can also be used for storage. This bike beats the Metacycle in acceleration, top speed, and distance. Sure it is $1,300 more but has so many more features. It is disappointing that the Metacycle promised so much more....which never panned out. No more quick removable battery, poor actual acceleration, and less distance than originally promised. Ryvid's changeable sprocket ratios is a plus. The hub motor is limited in it's low end torque and heaven forbid that a single magnet loosens up which causes the hub motor to lock up. The extra 6 months allows me to save up the difference in pricing. The new production model will have the revised battery latch, new drive pulleys, a narrower front portion of the seat, and gas tank cowl. On the pre-production gamma model, ones knees were hitting this portion. Thanks again.

if weight is accurate and 0-60 is indeed in the 7s range, that's a huge performance difference vs the metacycle's 11-16s to 60mph with comparable rated peak power. maybe it's only with the shorter gearing but if it doesn't lag too much with the longer gearing, it's an indication that using a hub motor was a mistake. I'll take better acceleration, lower weight and better rear suspension vs silence and supposed efficiency advantage (that's probably negated by the current lack of Regen)
If the actuators made the footpeg also to move forward when the seat height lowers, it will be an awesome cruiser to cafe-racer combo bike. In city traffic we can switch to cafe-racer, and in highways we can shift to cruiser.

Also my Suzuki TU250X is a perfect 24hp 250cc motorcycle that is like 1/3 the price of this and gets 200+ miles a tank, plus can cruise at 65 mph without any problem. It can also hit 100mph but that’s pushing it. 250lbs for this bike, while the Suzuki is 330lbs full tank I think. Heavier but still really light for a motorcycle. I can see the where this electric bike can be great but for someone who uses a motorcycle to “escape” on the weekend, or cruise with friends, this bike will just get me stuck with a dead battery because only 50-75 mile range is definitely not enough for that fun adventures that most of us motorcycle enthusiasts want. As a commuter it’s perfect but for that price range that’s breaking the bank a bit. Id rather buy a 400cc KTM Duke, or a Husqvarna Vitpilen or Svartpilen. Just sharing my thoughts on this, like I said this is a very cool bike. Just not what I’d personally be willing to invest in until the range is fixed and price adjusted to be more appealing.
Agree, I get around 60-70 mpg on my 5 gallon CSC RX4 ADV with a top end of 95. I commute with it alot and do 40-50 miles a day. This thing would be on the charger all the time. :/
All I really need for my commute is a motorcycle that can handle 50 miles per charge, weight less than 300lbs and go at least 60mph. No real Interstate use. This seems like it might be perfect
Love the video and the bike, but... What does the bike sound like? All these e-bike videos never show us the sound of the bikes. It's always some upbeat music during the riding scenes. At least give us a 0-60 sound.
You can hear it in the couple clips I left the sound in. Like the 0-60 at that traffic light on PCH. But as you can tell, the wind noise basically drowns out the electric motor whirr. That’s how quiet it is. If left in, the audio in the video would just be a bunch of crackling wind noise.
No comparison to the MetaCycle? 4KW battery, 70-75 MPH top speed, battery weight down low and MSRP 1K less, and being delivered today. Sure great discussion in the comments about the two. Anyway look good as well, but not being delivered yet, which is scary anymore.

hello my friend greetings I am interested in buying one of the electric motorcycles that I have seen in your videos but I want to ask you which of them you recommend that can be driven on rainy days I hope you can help me with that question many blessings and thanks
Sorry Micah you've probably been asked 100 times - what is your height/weight? I'm a fairly big dude and while I fell in love with the Metacycle, it looked TINY to me when I saw one in person for the first time. Never drove it but I sat on it - would never have worked for me. Wondering about the Anthem...?
Wouldn't the comparison be with the zero FXE? It costs about 25% more, but the range, and bells and whistles, reflects that. That aside, it is a great looking machine for a very specific purpose. One thing not mentioned is charging rate.
what is the pro's of removable battery here? it should weight a whole tonne for that voltage, speed and range. So you cannot just pick it up and grab it to an office for charging.
I know this is 8 months old, but it has wheels and an extendable handle like luggage. If you watch a demo video, you never actually need to lift the battery without leverage to uninstall/reinstall.
What about an Electric Cargo Bike (like the now defunct GenZe 2.0 Scooter)? Most of the current electric motorcycles don't come near it's capabilities. Would love to see an electric motorcycle with a cargo carrier built in/on so that commuting on it enabled grocery pick-ups on the way home. PRACTICALITY in meeting real life needs would be useful.
not keen on the fuel tank area where it just jolts out makes bike wider than it needed to be ...that looks goofy when see ride knees poking out sides because there hard edge running on side .....That part not good ..
A hubless design indeed looks wicked cool, but it would run counter to the affordable, practical design of this bike. Hubless is more expensive Hubless is less durable/sturdy Hubless is less efficient (at least from a centripetal standpoint)
At the price, I'd rather get the Svartpilen 401. I'd want this to be faster and at least $1000-$2000 cheaper. I'd definitely pick one of these up used for a discount if I knew all I was going to do is short trips around a city.
Nice but even at 7800 that just is not good price for the range and performance. I get it electric is expensive across the board but that's not a good excuse. Electric will never succeed by being forced on people, it will only succeed when the tech surpasses combustion engine powered bikes for the same or equivalent cost in both range and performance.
You understand there was a time when cars where more expensive to buy, more expensive to maintain and much more limited in their distance than horses right? Your perspective is judging ten years of development of electric vs 150 years of internal combustion development. Right now it is more, and like in all things the early adopters are willing to foot the bill. They will drive the price down.
It's way more stylish than the really odd looking MetaCycle. The more I see the MetaCycle, the more I think I had beer goggles when I fell in love with her.
I wish you spent more time recording the ride experience rather than talking over it. I like the look of motorcycles, but hate loud sounds. The idea of a quiet electric bike is very interesting to me. I would like to have not heard the bike more, if you catch my meaning :) That said, overal good vid.
My only complain with all these new mid range bikes is why the hell do they waste the tank space instead of making it a cargo space that you can put your helmet in. Add that and then take my money.

I believe the FXE costs around 50% more
13K + Dealer Fees.....
Whatbis the Mh of the battery and the charge time?
what is the pro's of removable battery here? it should weight a whole tonne for that voltage, speed and range. So you cannot just pick it up and grab it to an office for charging.
I know this is 8 months old, but it has wheels and an extendable handle like luggage. If you watch a demo video, you never actually need to lift the battery without leverage to uninstall/reinstall.
Why didn’t you show how the battery removal works? It’s show not tell.
They actually allow riding between the lanes where you live?
lane splitting is legal in the state of california
@@Rachiou077 Ok, that's news to me. More power to California.
Bring them to Australia please!
Check out the new csc on elektrek...right up ur alley stock...a lil heavy and a lil slow but great utility and value compared to comp
🙏🏾💫 inspired to look into this for future purchase!
send some to Australia, we will buy them
Será que ela chega a andar uns 500km de distância sem para
not keen on the fuel tank area where it just jolts out makes bike wider than it needed to be ...that looks goofy when see ride knees poking out sides because there hard edge running on side .....That part not good ..
cool Mike I want one bike
I like the design!
Also watch ultravoilette f77
Is it cool to ride like that between cars/lanes at stoplights? Hmmm...
Yes, in California and other places where it is legal.
California is legal to split lanes but check your local area for the regulations.
I'll be checking, but just out of curiosity, I will have to pass on it though...to dangerous for me.
Watched all of it
question: do you need an M1 license for this?
Yes, registration and insurance too since it's a full on motorcycle.
I would really like to see this company come up with a hubless electric wheel like the Verge motorcycle, it has torque like nobody's business😉
A hubless design indeed looks wicked cool, but it would run counter to the affordable, practical design of this bike.
Hubless is more expensive
Hubless is less durable/sturdy
Hubless is less efficient (at least from a centripetal standpoint)
I take it you didn’t really LIKE this bike? Impressions not what was expected? I think it’s great looking of course.
That's an amazing motorcycle 💯
At the price, I'd rather get the Svartpilen 401. I'd want this to be faster and at least $1000-$2000 cheaper.
I'd definitely pick one of these up used for a discount if I knew all I was going to do is short trips around a city.
Sweet ride bruh!
Anyone knows the minimum seat height setting in inches?
30 to 34 Inch
I guess there's a benefit to the way it looks no one would steal it
It's way more stylish than the really odd looking MetaCycle. The more I see the MetaCycle, the more I think I had beer goggles when I fell in love with her.
Exactly
Love it.
Hi Anthem
OMG ❤ I love to buy one very soooon so perfect design for anyone congratulations
I wish you spent more time recording the ride experience rather than talking over it. I like the look of motorcycles, but hate loud sounds. The idea of a quiet electric bike is very interesting to me. I would like to have not heard the bike more, if you catch my meaning :)
That said, overal good vid.
Spitting lanes👍
Wow super cool looking! 👍👍😀❤
My only complain with all these new mid range bikes is why the hell do they waste the tank space instead of making it a cargo space that you can put your helmet in. Add that and then take my money.
Royal Enfield classic 350.
wondering if any companies are doing /planning 3 wheel EVs now? or soon?
Aptera might be something for you :)
I'm genuinely surprised that there isn't a electric spyker yet.
There's ElectraMeccanica's Solo and Arcimoto's FUV's, both are producing three wheelers and seem to be LEGIT.
