  • Here are 3 simple steps to cure your horse from pulling on the lunge line.
    1. Achieve purity of gait
    2. The energy test to connect your horse to center
    3. Use direct pressure supported by herding pressure to get the horse following a feel around the circle, and not away from you.
There are many more ways to approach this of course, but these are certainly helpful tips.

We want our horses "going to" = Directing or Following a Feel --- NOT "Escaping From" = Driving or Chasing. Great examples of 'True' Horsemanship!!!

The Handlers Core Body if positioned behind the horse when asking for forward movement and our core body infront of our horse when asking for slow down or stop.
Remember by minimizing our own foot movement we can manage our horses feet with less potential confusion. Horses you've never even handled quickly understand your body language.Try it and be amazed!
The less you use the more you receive..sticks whips flags only add confusion in the beginning get horse good at responding to your Core Body before adding aids.
For the most clarity get good at standing still doing nothing.

hi took your advice to watch this video..how are you "lifting"

I make contact with the horses nose first, then lift slightly with my arm and fingers at a 45 degree angle forward off the front of her nose. Give it time, I'm going to do a follow up video on this horse within the next couple of days, and it took her a solid 10 days to learn to lift her front end up to be able to canter.

@@_thenaturalhorseman i did work w my mare early this morning and we did get relaxation w trot going to the right..needs to work on following the feel and i love the "no chase" idea..so working w the lunge line toward the hock is great and the lifting of the arm for canter is super..we're working on it!! i'd love a video like you described above.

Should your horses head always be turned to the inside and if so how do you get them to do it?

I’ll ask them to really turn their heads in especially if they’re tight backed, and then straighten them out in the shape of the circle when I start asking for engagement.

At the walk and trot, use the halter rope in time with the outside hind to step it out ever so slightly, which will cause the inside hind to step under. This usually supples the top line and brings the nose in and down over time.
