    I love how every race uses small crews and complex neural uplinks to control their vehicles as if it where there own body (throne mechanicum, amniotic tanks in imperial titans, psychic uplinks in eldar titans) whereas ork titans act like an 18th century steamship, the kaptain bellowing orders down the speakin’ tubes to his officers, who in turn order the hoards of grots and orks to keep the ramshackle machine going, glorious

      I wonder if the Orks ever made a ship version of that weapon. They could use it to just go around to various systems teleporting soon-to-be-crazed/dead orks onto planets just to get them spored up and REALLY annoy anyone who liked having there be no Orks on that planet. And if the enemy manages to crack your infinity circuit, they still don't win since there will be an instant planet wide Slaneshi Daemon incursion!
      Some might be tempted to call this a minor drawback of the weapon but considering the Imperium was probably willing and able to virus bomb the planet if the Eldar won, well it comes out to about even until you consider the Eldars reproduction rate of "no" and what the daemons have in-store for them...

    Yup, Eldar warmachines would be plain terrifying to go up against. And I'd wager any imperial in the know (or anyone else for that matter) would be thankful that the Eldar are on the verge of extinction.

    • @sircastic959
      @sircastic959 7 років тому +22

      Yeah, also scattered to the winds. Should the Eldar ever get a chance at controlling at least a handful of systems undisturbed for a few centuries to a millennium and fully reunite while the Imperium had to deal with pressing matters, they might soon find themselves in a position to actually defend against anything but the full force of the empire, and should they be able to expand they would soon be able to tear the empires ass so far open you could fit Planets in there.
      Essentially, the Eldar don´t even need to be able to defend against the Imperium as soon as they reach a certain level of offensive power especially in space. They can just leave their planets to be exterminated (barring what they can evacuate) and go for an MAD solution by going straight to Terra and BTFO the Emperor himself as soon as the Imperial Fleet appears at their Doorstep. The empire is being beset by multiple forces and the Eldar would just have to get past a certain point of offensive capabilities where they can wound the empire gravely enough to ensure its demise over the coming millennia. And let the Empire know that.
      The Empire and the Eldar would then enter into something like a cold war where they arms-race against each other and try to gain advantages in local skirmishes without ever fully committing larger forces, at least until the Empire can shield its crown jewel from the Eldar. (The empire needs to amass enough arms to kill the entire Eldar fleet twice, once on the offense and one on the defense, all without exposing itself to the other enemies for any longer time.
      Problem is, this would benefit the Eldar greatly as they are WAY faster than the Empire.
      The alternative would be somewhat of an uneasy peace where they essentially promise to leave each other the fuck alone.

      +Rellana1 That happens all the time (at least, it used to...) Orks aren't exactly picky about their loot and anything that can be scavenged from the battlefield and fired again is cheerfully used until either it breaks and is scrapped for parts or one of the Mekboyz takes an interest. Of course, nothing acquired as loot stays the way it was found for very long, lack of maintenance usually means that a Lascannon for example would quickly degrade and be 'repaired' in such a way as to make it effectively a Zapp Gun.

    • @Rellana1
      @Rellana1 9 років тому +18

      MrMortull
      I did read in one of the 40k books the orks had managed to salvage a Baneblade from the field and were "corrupting it's machine-spirit" until a delegation of Space Marines persuaded them that was a bad idea,but I thought that might have been a once-off thing.

      +Rellana1 Actually yes. The majority of Ork psychics manifests itself as a form of "wish granting." For example, a rocket painted yellow will create a bigger explosion simply because the majority of the Ork population believes it so.

    Eldar Titans use an Infinity Circuit for command control, similar to the one used for Craftworlds. This allows the Titan crew to achieve the agility that such war machines are known for. This also accounts for their odd tendency to act as a single entity even outside the cockpit.
    This agility was crucial, because the effectiveness of the Holo-Field depended on how fast it could move. Since they couldn't fire their weapons at full speed, slowing down to fire their weapons opened a window of vulnerability. Stepping on a mine or stopping to bitch slap a Bloodthirster with a Power Fist is not advisable.
    Their arm laz0rz are typically used for Titan-killing, though they can mount D-Cannon for some AoE damage. Still, their only secondary weapons are the wing-mounted Missile Launchers.
    Imperial Titan command thrones are believed to retain imprints of the former Princeps' will and personalities, but not anywhere close to the Infinity Circuit of the Eldar Titans.
    Ork Titans aren't noted for their firepower; they're noted for being damage sponges that can absorb insane amounts of damage. Multiple Power Fields and thick armour spread out across a lot of hit locations made it annoying as fuck to kill. And unlike Eldar Titans, they came with a ridiculous amount of secondary weapons that made it a real beast against massed forces. Of all the Ork Titan weapons out there, the Super Lifta-Droppa and the Gaze of Mork were hilarious to use.

      @KingQwertzlbrmpf 8 років тому +5

      The KX139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour is not a titan. It is incredibly powerful and posibly able to deal with smaller titans, but it is most likely not the final anwser. Especialy when we realise that the tau are pretty much the only species that (at least at this time) is able to have technological advancements. But i doubt that they ever will create their own titans. It doesn't fit their preferred battle tactics. They'd need some great changes or addtitions to their tactical repertoire to make titans a reasonable concept for them.

    Beautiful news. I'm glad that they postponed the release date as it allows them to iron out the bugs and the problems in order to release a completed product. Thanks Arch.

    As an Ork you can never have too much firepower.

    I don't know if this is still cannon, but there was a record of an ork growing to be the size of a gargant, and another being 10 meters tall. That's almost the size of a small titan. Not to mention they had control of a gargant that could hold 6 mega gargants in the throne room.

    Why does every alien in every scifi have to have a weakness that boils down to "shoot this one thing to win instantly"

    About those Tyranid spore mines. They are pretty interesting if you ponder on how they would actually detonate themselves.
    Basically they as living creatures would probably have some kind of fear or anger reaction to alien organisms which would cause some kind of bio-chemical or hormonal reaction which instead of stimulating the organism would produce or inject large quantities of reactive substances into the spore mines "blood" stream and result in it exploding.
    Kinda like a porcupinefish but with a suicidal reaction.
